Dir en grey

Recommended Posts

This album certainly isn't as melodic as their previous stuff, most songs dont even have any choruses (none of the new songs?). But I'm (kind of) impressed sofar ^^

nice job on practicing WAH WAH WAH FART FART FART for two years, kyo and guys have really outdone themselves!!

first part is unlistenable, gets better from track 7 and further, but still lame.

Kyo's singing gets better every time. He just shines here!

Even tho I'm a fan of metal, I think the album needs to grow on you a little bit before enjoying it fully.

The Japanese HMV asked the guys what 10 albums they would bring to a deserted island:

Bauhaus - Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape (Kyo)

David Sylvian - Secrets Of The Beehive (Kyo)

The Beatles - 1962-1966 (Kaoru)

The Beatles - 1967-1970 (Kaoru)

D'ERLANGER - LA VIE EN ROSE (Die)

ZIGGY - KOOL KIZZ (Die)

Alice in Chains - Dirt (Toshiya)

Radiohead - OK Computer (Toshiya)

AION - Absolute (Shinya)

GARGOYLE - Geki~furebumi~ (Shinya)

Bauhaus, D'ERLANGER, Alice in Chains.....nice taste!

edit: oh, and one more thing:

Dada (singer of Velvet Eden) on Facebook:

I will work for a long time with Dir en grey. It will begin next week.

Toshiya in Rock Sound magazine:

We're actually back in the studio again as we've been requested to write a new song by someone we can't disclose at this time.

...coincidence or not? :)

Holy crap, Kyo likes Bauhaus... although the album he chose is a live one. o_o

Writing for Velvet Eden is intriguing... diru have not played with electronic/industrial-influenced sounds for a long time. Look forward to see what they come up with.

I don't know, but Dada actually designed T-shirts for Dir en grey back in 2004.He also did many drawings for Kyo's poem book.So I actually believe he is related to t-shirts,but let's wait to see...

Well the easy part to decipher - they are playing Tokyo Dome on 11/11. Quick wikipedia, that venue fits 55,000 people.

They could easily fill tokyo dome/budoukan if they wanted, any day.

As much as I like the band, I wouldn't say they'd fill Dome "easily". Budokan, yeah, they filled it twice in a row few years back with ease, but its capacity is less than 15 000 people. Tokyo Dome is something completely different, and filling it to capacity is quite a feat. I mean, UROBOROS didn't even sell 50 000 copies in Japan back in '08.

not going to happen.

I'm eagerly awaiting for oricon stats on moo, btw. kinda curious if it has any chances to sell better than uroboros.
