LONDBOY guitar RIO arrested

Recommended Posts

yea esp with jp and their privacy laws or just a greater perceived respect for private property, i can't see why he wouldn't want to try and do damage control

tbh what she had was most likely some irrelevant private convos (prolly trashing fans), purikura or nekkid sleep picz and that isn't a big deal in itself but she must have been incessant on pissing them off and so they said fak u bitch 911 halp!

n then the police probably wanted more deets and as he spilt the deets about why the chick wanted rio 4 dead they realized he was a deviant vrocker and so they SLAPPED on those fucking charges

I don't think the contents of the photos/LINE messages are all that relevant, though. Private information is private information. I wouldn't want people sharing my photos or the conversations I have with my friends on LINE to the world and I'm a nobody. Privacy is an even bigger issue for people in the entertainment industry. Even if no one on MH cares about LONDBOY, the band has a decent enough following in Japan so I could understand Rio not wanting people to spread his private life around.  Especially since having a significant other often very negatively affects the career of an entertainer/musician in Japan. I mean a few years ago there was that AKB girl who shaved her head to apologize to her fans for a having a boyfriend.

I'm all for reasonable expectations of privacy until it's time to prove one's innocence. He's a stone's throw away from being labeled a sex offender, ruining his life, career, and personal prospects anyway. There hasn't been a single visual kei musician who has bounced back from this; they all disappear into the void because even in visual kei pedophilia is a black mark. Unless those LINE conversations are critically damning and expose him as some thirsty beast who beds underage women weekly, his situation can't get much worse and he has nothing to lose.

Then again, this is all from a Western perspective and I never get how the Japanese choose to "save face" in situations like these.

If he was in possession of nudes, that could also be a big problem. Child pornography and all that.

That's true, but I doubt the messages/photos were anything that drastic. I mean the girl had already spread stuff on the internet. And since the police were involved, I would assume they took a look at the messages/photos in question and didn't consider them to be harmful to the girl or Rio probably wouldn't have been released. Or maybe I'm missing your point? Do you mean that you think he should divulge the messages/photos to the general public? If so, I think I just disagree with that. If you're simply wondering why he got the police involved in the first place, I stick by what I said in my previous post. Rio's an entertainer and things can get crazy when fans get a hold of private information, regardless of what that information is. Plus, he's a VK guy and most VK guys don't like to show themselves w/o makeup/their hair done etc. and they generally don't like to divulge too much personal info so it could've been as simple as that. I mean if you look at their profiles on their home pages, basically they only tell you their name, birthday, blood type and what brands they like lol. So I mean, they obviously want to keep as much personal information to themselves as they can?

To me, where there is smoke there is fire. Band members having intimate pictures leaked by their fans is nothing new (see Danchou from NoGoD) and it hasn't ruined a career before - but it's interesting to me that RIO felt so pressured that he had to get the police involved. And that's before the whole pedophilia angle came into it. That indicates that the contents of these messages/photos may have some gravity to them and are key to understanding this situation. Their existence is also complicating, since if one or more parties are naked in it he could be convicted of a crime. Discussing these elements of the case until we get more facts is a more fruitful use of our internet time than blindly branding one or more parties as a slut or rapist, which topics like these are always in danger of turning into. Whatever information I wish to know is going to come out in an inevitable court case, so my feathers aren't too ruffled about invading his privacy.

wouldn't the simpler explanation be that it's a clear-cut case of harassment, and Rio went to the police to attempt to get the girl to stop circulating the contents and/or have them removed? (the phrasing in the blog was "[The girl with whom I was involved] started exposing photos from the time we were together. The police launched investigations when I consulted them on this matter, which led to this incident.")

so it wasn't the case that Rio felt compelled to go to the police to "turn himself in" for something that he knew would be eventually exposed in a bid to get a more lenient sentence (at least, nothing in the information we currently have is indicative of this scenario). if the information about the fake ID is correct, he wouldn't have been aware that he had flouted the law in the first place since he thought the girl was of legal age.

That's the interpretation I roll with too. But if one is to deny the official story as it stands right now because RIO is an unreliable source, then more information is required. I'm suggesting constructive avenues of discussion which I think are relevant and on topic in lieu of baseless accusations.
