Most emotional live performance/clips?

Hello, all.

I was hoping you could share some of your favorite live clips that fall under the category of most emotionally intense performance. These tend to be the clips I revisit the most, because there's something quite satisfying about a sentimental moment in a live setting. Here's my vk/jrock picks:

ムック Mucc - 朽木の塔 Kuchiki no Tou (??? 2004)

Tatsurou. That's all that needs to be said here, really. Footage is actually taken from two separate performances, so do your best trying to figure out which one the audio's from. Whichever, this performance kicks ass. I'm always amazed by how unforgivingly dark the performances in this era often were. Again, Tatsurou...

DELUHI - s[k]ape:goat (Shibuya C.C. Lemon Hall 2011)

Generally really hype song and hype performance, but the bit @ 2:05 - 3:00 sends shivers down my spine. Just such a cool buildup and the vocal work/screams here are ace.

Killie - H19.09.07 (a.k.a Ressurection a.k.a キリストは復活する) (Shinjuku Loft 2008)

YES!!! If you're unfamiliar with this song or band, try your best to sit through the whole thing. It's a bit unorthodox in structure and really can only be consumed in a full listening. Pretty much the only proper live recording of Killie and man, it makes me wish they had recorded a whole show rather than just this one song. Still, incredibly cool. The cohesion of this group in their bittersweet stop-and-go antics is exhilarating.

るう゛ぃえ Ruvie - パラダイス・ロスト Paradise Lost (Shibuya O-EAST 2008)

With this clip in particular, I feel like the synchronicity of the members is what brings a lot of that convincing emotional energy. I really love the vocals and guitar/bass lines during the quietish section right before the last sort of blowout at the end. Shame they couldn't do the backing vocals live in that bit, but still pretty good imo.

For me, that easily goes to Psycho le Cemu - REMEMBRANCE from their last live. Since it was the last song that they would play together as a band(barring the later revivals, of course), it was set to be a pretty emotional performance regardless. It felt very apt that they picked REMEMBRANCE as it's a very emotional song to begin with and, as PLC was the first VK band that I really got into, it had a very special place in my heart as well.

Mine was definitely RENTRER EN SOI - Hamon Tsutau Memai from their last live.

They paused and that sing along definitely sent shiver down my spine.

First time I watched that song on that live DVD, I almost cried.

I've seen a few, but one that sticks out in my mind is this very performance of "I LOVE YOU" by Yutaka Ozaki. Given the tragic way he went out and the emotional atmosphere of the song itself makes me well up quite a bit.

Even though I don't do it often, I love listening to MERRY live. Especially when they decide to do acoustic stuff. Gara is really good at showing emotion when he sings these kinds of songs, and it just makes one feel all sorts of things inside. The first time I even watched this clip, I got chills. Shit like this still makes me wonder how the fuck this band is so underrated....

About MUCC's Kuchiki no Tou, didn't they say they're never playing that song live again? The studio version is already very emotional and this... this is just... ugh. ç_ç

I get why they'd choose not to play it again... and also, like you said: TATSUROU.

Do As Infinity - Fukai Mori

This live of Fukai Mori has a lot of meaning to the band and the fans in general. I remember how I felt the first time I watched this, even though I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. There were a lot of theories around, but in reality she talks about how this song is important to her and to the band and how she felt the first time she listened to the demo tape. And now they're doing that live. That was not long after the band was formed and they felt overwhelmed by all that's been happening. That song was a huge success and it's an emotional song by itself. And then she starts crying and.... ç_ç

And... this.

MUCC - Akatsuki Yami

It helps that I love that song and that it's an emotional song by itself, but the way he sings it there is also overwheming... the lyrics to that song make it even stronger. But even if they lyrics aren't clear to the one who's listening, you can clearly feel he's pouring his emotions into it.

i think this is emotional for pretty obvious reasons. its not over the top with cheese and a half hour singalong, but a prim and genuine moment for the band and their fans. ryo singing off notes/falling out of beat makes it perfect. 8byo is the most bittersweet song i know, and a perfect ending for a perfect band :((

This one is particularly good to me because I'm part of its story. TDCC were nobodies back in the days. they were doing one of their first concerts out of Ireland, and there's a site known as 'queremos', which basically crowdfunds concerts when there's demand for a band, but no money. the crowdfunding was a success and they came to Rio. it was fucking WILD. Alex (the vocalist) reaction in this video is priceless, he said in a MC they had no idea we knew them, even less that they would have that kind of welcoming. they played their entire album, some unreleased songs, and even a strokes cover just for the sake of it, when they went down to mosh with the public, called everyone to go on stage and mosh jump.... it was the best fuckin concert I've ever attended to, in the end was a freaking party... few years later, in a interview to an UK magazine I believe, they said it was the best freaking concert of their lives. Unforgettable for us too!

Damien Rice - I Remember

I could probably list Damien Rice for days, but I think this is his most impactful live performance for me.

All the VK songs I want to show don't seem to be on YouTube, but I'll list them here for those who may have means to see them.

— Girugamesh – 壊れていく世界

The way Satoshi keeps screaming at the climax of the song gives me shivers ...

— SCISSOR – from住人toイロ off of FINAL CUT

This was SCISSOR's first real song and is actually a rather poppy-sounding song, but it was also the last song they played together (except for their reunion). At one point, MIKI has to turn his back on the audience to keep from crying.

— DELUHI – Orion once again (live) off of FLASH:B[L]ACK DVD

The obligatory "sing-along" live portion, but this was when DELUHI was really starting to blow up. Juri has to face the back of the stage as he covers his face to avoid crying to hard, but you can see his shoulders shaking. Leda also is shown with tears streaming down his face.

— Dir en grey – 悲劇は目蓋を下ろした優しき鬱 (pretty much every time)

I have seen this song live many times and personally have cried each time. Kyo is a master of showing emotion on stage and I could probably list tons of Dir en grey songs, but higeki ha ... is the most emotional for me.

Despite what people may think of SADIE, and my issues with how inconsistent they seemed at times....they still are a super important band to me. Learning that they were going on an indefinite hiatus sucked but i was also happy at the same time. They need it. This led to them giving us VOYAGE, which is what I believe is their best work since COLD BLOOD. Watching this performance broke me. I was in front of my computer with tears rolling down my face as The crowd sang "lalalalalala" and Mao kept screaming "MORE" while crying....dawg

I miss the hell out of SADIE and this live as a whole is superb. A perfect send off for a band that can really soar higher if they want to (upon their return).

Sakito (though not a great singer) can barely even sing throughout the performance and Miyavi is just bawling his eyes out. that sing along gets me everytime. I still tear up when I see this.
