DADAROMA

Recommended Posts

Let's get this thread alive.

What did people think of dadaism #3?

imo the only song worth listening to is 狼少年と毒林檎, it gives me strong zouka to karashnikov vibes for some reason... Also the weakest song is ロマンスグレー... really ddrm, I'm kind of disappointed.

I somewhat agree with you, I thought the mini was rather average unfortunately. Masturbation is the only song that I immediately liked as a simple, but pretty fun song - sounds like catchy industrial rock/metal, which fits them well. I'd say that the album grows on you a bit after a few listens, I actually thought that ロマンスグレー was one of the stronger songs. In general, there is not really a bad song on the mini, but there is just nothing that really stands out as amazing either, even though there are some fantastic parts like the end of 狼少年と毒林檎.  On a more positive note, I do think that they are becoming more consistent and polished when it comes to songwriting and Yoshiatsu's performance, plus the jazz-y songs are finally absent for once.

I'm still pretty convinced that the deathcore-inspired stuff is where their greatest strength lies, but it doesn't seem like they want to pursue that as their primary style.

Not exactly let down by the release, because I was already prepared for the worst after the samples came out.

My attitude is rather lenient towards them anyway; like whatever they release I'm fairly confident it'll go in cycles with them and a similar and a different song is eventually going to come up. Although I think it can be said that they've been phasing out the deathcore since like the second single in favor of that nu metally/"industrial" angryman sound. This is unfortunate and it does make me wonder whether it's an conscious effort to be more palatable to a larger crowd. It's not like these dudes could have possibly grown out of deathcore in the span of like 6 months. That core cameo on Zouka is one of their best moments, so I hope it'll at least keep making sporadic appearances if we can't get nomo ame no waruzus

I like the Masturbation song, and sort of lukewarm on everything else. They never jump out or really gain an intensity that's impossible to ignore. Tired is how I'd describe it.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected from the previews. Took a couple of listens, but still. Hooked on MASTURBATION since I heard the whole thing at Takashi's birthday live, and I really like the direction they took with Romance Grey. And for those complaining they've lost their darker edge, Ookami Shounen to Doku Ringo has the same kind of dramatic atmosphere we've come to know DDRM for. Not their best ever release, but far from the disappointment a lot of people are calling it out to be (imho anyway). Looking forward to the tour final in July. (And hoping we'll finally see KIDS WAR even if it's a live dist single.)

It's an okay release. Probably the weakest among dadaisms imo. Masturbation and the second song are probably my faves. I liked the bangya song too, but I gotta give the whole thing a few more listens to get my thought together. I do agree that they seem to consciously move away from their heavier stuff, which is really a shame. If you compare the MVs of their first few tracks to something like masturbation or that risley circus, they're like night and day. They're moving towards the generic VK-fuckboi aesthetics and sound. Yoshiatsu's voice works in both styles, but song writing is kinda lacking in fuckboi songs and I don't think rest of the band's strengths come out in this direction.

It tooked a bit of time to give the release a good listen, but when I was able to, I really loved ロマンスグレー. I like Masturbation and 私、バンギャじゃないわ too.

It can be kind nonsense, but I like only half of 狼少年と毒林檎, just like it happens to 雨のワルツ song, and now this one is one of my top favs. Maybe soon I can get a full appreciation for that one song.

Me and @Shir0are praying for KIDS WAR to be released and not forget. I wish this one could be dropped on Yoshiatsu's birthday live, it could work well since it's a sold out live.

Any thoughts on the new single?

I personally think that the title track is great and a nice addition to their more catchy stuff. The rest is alright, but not too memorable. I do love the death metal part in the otherwise rather lackluster third song though, probably good stuff for lives.

ˆ exactly the same feelings about it here. Realistically I can't imagine anyone feeling any ways about the second song, the third is sorta 'aight for it's live purpose and the PV song is actually pretty cool and different from the rest of their A-sides. I still maintain that the overall direction they're heading towards is not good, but as long as they can churn out A-sides of this level I'll stay along for the ride.

Never gave them much of a chance before Dadaism#3 but I loved that and pornograph so I've been going back and downloading the rest of their discography and have been listening today.

The title track was pretty good but I really enjoyed the third song. It's not their greatest, I do prefer their heavier stuff, but they're a versatile band. Whatever they do I think they'll manage to make it work for them.

The CDs arrived today! Anyone else got theirs yet?

I'm really liking this single! I've already had time to get accustomed to the title tracks, but I still really love them. Especially ii kusuri.

Alice in Underground is a pretty cool song, and I really like the breakdown section.

Nikki is a pretty solid rock song with a pretty basic formula which actually works pretty well for them. It's kinda nice to see that Tomo had a part in the lyrics for this track as well.

Definitely a single that lived up to the hype for me, and I'm super excited to see where Dadaroma head next musically, and how much more Yoshi can improve on vocals :D

I really liked their last single, especially "ii kusuri". Still waiting on my CD to arrive (I bought secondhand), but I'm excited to receive it! I bought type A.

Since "This is 'Live'" is releasing 2 days after my birthday, I thought I'd pick it up as a birthday present to myself. Still debating what version to get. I hope they release a teaser for "The Kinky" soon. I'd like "KIDS WAR" but I also feel like an mp3 of that will be way easier to find than the PV. Hoping the PV song will be good! I wonder if "shiroi geranium" or "aru hi, sekai wa utsukushii to omotta." will be ballads. The 2nd one definitely sounds like it will be, based on the title alone.

...could the lyrics be any more obvious?

I assume this is an unpopular opinion but I haven't clicked with these guys since dadaism#2. What are they doing?!

They're just not Metalcore/JazzyRoma anymore lmao. Some songs from their full length were cool and Zouka to Kalashnikov the title track was really goood but other than that...ehhhh. The most recent thing thats kinda worth checking out is ii,kusuri

Not unpopular. I find it hard to take them seriously these days, although warui kusuri restored my faith and now this shit has destroyed it in one clean punch to my face.

I'm still hoping that somewhere in that CD, there'll be good stuff.

To think I was gonna pre order this lmao

I wouldn't hate it so much if it wasn't for that chorus... It doesn't work like it did in Masturbation, at least there I can appreciate the message.
I still can't hate them though if they're really doing what they want and having fun, I guess lol

Listening to the sample again, it just sounds like they're trying so hard to make the song catchy. Then the yelling after about a minute in is just a complete turn off and makes the song worse. MASTURBATION was catchy, but this one? Not feelin' it. I'm definitely not pre-ordering nor getting the one with the DVD.

I was really disappointed after dadaism#3 (I only liked MASTURBATION, sadly, wish it were a single) and Pornograph. Pornograph actually wasn't bad, but wasn't really the kinda sound I liked either. But then ii kusuri to warui kusuri really revived my hopes for their sound to go back in the direction I liked. I've listened the shit out of that release and it was my first DDRM purchase. Fingers crossed the other songs save this release.

EDIT: Just listened to the samples that are up on their youtube channel now. I'm completely disappointed. I'll give it a listen after release, but it looks like it's a huge pass for me. Only sample I liked was KIDS WAR and it doesn't even sound like it fits on this mini-album IMO.

All this hype for kids war and it was just an average song. The new mini is barely passable and THE KINKY and innocent holic are the ones that stood out for me as songs that I would come back to. Regardless, the bass sounded great in every track so props to Tomo for including some good slapping.
