Yeah how'd you know! I didn't send you a message did I? Haha XD

Do you think you'll be seeing Perturbator on his 2nd US tour? I'll be going to the Boston show.

Yeah, you did send me a message. So I am one of those you messaged. :P

Me? Well, no chance as I live in Europe.

I had the same listening curve with Trevor Something and, yeah vocals. But after some listening I noticed how great his production is and wanted to check out the rest of his catalog. I'm disappointed by his latest releases though as he's practically moved away from synth in favor of rock/punk.

Do you guys know Electric Dragon? Came across this guy a few days ago, pretty decent stuff.

I just discovered him last week! Yeah, not bad at all. He sounds like a mix of GosT, Volkor X, and Magic Sword to me.

Vinyl pre-orders are going up this sunday on Neuropa's website. I'll definitely be nabbing one:

I thought most people knew where I was from on this forum. And my English doesn't exactly look like it's written by someone with English as their mother tongue. Heh.

But yeah, it was hilarious. I just saw the mail that someone had sent me a PM on discogs, so I knew immediately that it was you since you mentioned you'd PM'd lots of people on discogs. :P

Ah, Noir Deco sounds good, gonna check that one out.

Love Gunship the most from Ghost's recommendations, gonna get their album!

After listening to Soulless Computer Boy I feel like I am slowly getting into Trevor Something, I guess I'm going to through the same process as you guys :D

Cool! I think one of the things about Trevor Something is the unique vocal approach and the overall laidback style of the music. It's very different from other synthwave acts. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I think this is a fairly decent description myself:

You have:

Outrun which is the more upbeat sound of the genre soundtrack to someone driving a red Testarossa through the dark, bright neon lit streets, often in rainy weather or in the dark: Lazerhawk, Kavinsky, Arcade High, Lost Years, Mitch Murder, Power Glove.

Darkwave which is the dark and futuristic sounds of the genre, often heavily inspired by tech-noir, neon-noir and films like Blade Runner, Terminator, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Escape from New York and so on, films in which they would also work perfectly as soundtracks: Perturbator, Gost, Carpenter Brut, Dan Terminus, Dance with the Dead.

Dreamwave which would be the more chillout, bright, dreamy stuff which is the soundtrack to a beautiful girl dressed in very little clothes roller skating down the miami streets on the hot summer day with a don on a leash, or a cheesy 80's work out video with sexy girl dressed in bright tights and tops/bra's: Miami Nights 1984, FM-84, 80s Stallone, VHS Dreams.

This the last "sub-genre" is where I feel like Trevor Something belongs, but at the same time he just stands out very much because of the overall sound he's managed to create. Like a mix of "outrun" and "dreamave", but without really belonging to either. I don't know.

Also, you have the more sci-fi-esque stuff like Dynatron, Waveshaper, Zombie Hyperdrive and so on which I don't really know where to put. This is hard.

Ya know, my co-worker introduced me to Dance with the Dead about a year ago, and I never looked into it.

It's not until today that I decide to check out some city pop forums, and I stumble across an article that mentions SATELLITE YOUNG, and well .....

Here I am lol

Gonna check out all your recommendations guys, and maybe even stumble on some new stuff for ya too.

GosT “Possessor” [2018]

... With the abandonment of form comes a revolution in essence …

The Satanic lord of slasherwave returns with his most extreme work to date. GosT "Possessor" is an aggressive demolition of sound and spirit. Following 2016's massive concept album “Non Paradisi”, GosT is no longer carefully escorting the listener on a casual journey through Hell but dragging Hell to the listener and shoving it down their throat.

“Possessor” takes the perspective of the evil spirit during an exorcism – using trademark buzzsaw basslines, GosT hacks off the limbs of synthwave and leaves it bleeding in his wake. Marked by the demented sounds of the possessed and the panicked, amplified through blastbeats and utilizing GosT's own soothing vocals and tortured, other-worldly screams. This is not an album for the faint of heart.

A total mindfuck - the most nihilistic, experimental dance album ever recorded. A cross between Anaal Nathrakh and Justice. Classic French house meets post punk meets horror films meets power electronics.

With a cover photograph by Jason Woodward, the legendary duo Fortifem's contributions are hidden inside. Their incredible drawings line the walls of “Possessor”'s scrolls with three intense, new engravings.

Protect your neck. Protect your soul.

RELEASE DATE: March 23rd, 2018

TRACK LIST:

1. Possessor
2. Garruth
3. The Prowler
4. Sigil
5. Loudas Deceit
6. Beliar
7. Legion
8. 16 A.M.
9. Shiloh's Lament
10. Malum
11. Commandment

Sweet cover and fantastic song. Some surprising elements, but at the core it sounds Gost as fuck.

It's definitely classic GosT but I wish he would change up his song structure. It's the same thing with Maleficarum where it starts hard, goes softer, and then finishes hard. I need some straight bangers like Behemoth. That track is freaking murder.

Nothing too amazing so far but I'll check the album out as always. Not sure about this new direction (or metal influence) either, but we'll see...

New Carpenter Brut is out on his bandcamp. Not as violent and mean as his previous works, and perhaps a bit more melodic and easy to the ear. But it sounds really good.

Kristoffer "Garm" Rygg of Ulver and Arcturus, Kvhost from Beastmilk, Grave Pleasures and Hexvessel, and Ole Alexander Halstensgård of Paperboys and Ulver are among the people who contributed to the album as guests. Jaime Gomez Arellano who's helped recording/mastering/mixing albums from Angel Witch, Amulet, Fen, Dread Sovereign, Ghost, Inquisition, Paradise Lost, Oranssi Pazuzu, Primordial and more have also contributed to the album.

I'm just excited he's finally releasing new music. Best part is he announced on twitter that this'll be a new trilogy

Yeah, Leather Teeth didn't leave as big an impression as his previous 3 EPs, but I like that he went a lighter direction. It seems like all the other synthwave veterans keep going darker lol.

Btw, anybody else listen to these new GosT tracks yet?

New songs at 22:15 and 26:35.

Beliar

I don't know how I feel about him singing. Tbh, it doesn't sound so great live. But these songs get me excited for the album.

New GosT sounds kinda embarrassing and cringey and even somehow boring to me... might skip this 'era' altogether.

I haven't listened to the new Carpenter Brut yet, just some snippets, but those sounded good! Can't wait to catch him/them live in a few weeks! <3

New GosT track slaaaaaays. It's like a mix of all his eras.

I like this a bit better than the other two! Gives me a bit more hope for the album... :D

In other news, I'm finally sitting down to properly (and loudly) listen to the new Carpenter Brut album and it is aaaaawesomeeee!! Can't wait to see him/them live on Wednesday and dance my ass off. Youth Code will be supporting them which is a bit of a weird pairing imo, but I'm not complaining cuz I frickin' love Youth Code, haha.

The New Gost will become a modern classic, and in 5-10 years it'll be considered one of the very best synthwave albums ever. Mark my words!
