  1. I'm kinda a regular around here. Some of you at least know me on here No I'm not Japanese and I'm not exactly VK, but my music is influenced by it. Why the weird headline? I'll be straight up with you, I'm a little burned out. I need a vacation. And I'm tired of sending out the same old "Vitne releases new single! blah blah blah" headline. Anyway, December 10th I released my new single (plus the instrumental), a wintery wonderland rock ballad with beautiful artwork hand-drawn by Korean artist IF LEE. Its called "Winter Love Song" - I'm very proud of it. Download it free, or pay-what-you-want (honor system) here: http://musicshop.vitne.net - its also on iTunes and all that. Arigatou, thanks everyone ( )
  2. WRITE-UP: Fear and Loathing`s third, and personally easiest to get into album. While heavily retaining their distinct approach to song-writing, the band has created an album less tied to a genres feel, and more to a three-dimensional story told in vibrant color and many tempos as well as moods. The tracks all feel like stand-alone adventures told sonically, with rock, layered with heavy electronics, harsh vocals and modulated soft, tender and youthful vocals interlacing. To get a feel for the album you can watch the PV`s, and listen to the songs released before-hand, yet that would only be a portion of the experience that the album presents to you. Each track is different, each one rides an emotional and musical roller-coaster, and each can go either way terms of whether you like it or not. Numerous listens really changed my perspective of the album. At first some of the tracks attached to me, but others went right through me. After listening and listening, as well as going on a day of bike riding with the album on repeat, each track begin to take a hold on me in its own different way. Tracks that instantly clicked: Are You Ready to Blast Off? / Rave-up Tonight Interlude Virtue and Vice Flutter of Cherry Blossoms Tracks that had to grow on me: Swing It!! Thunderclap Nail the Shit Down Rain Inside Your Eyes Counterattack by the Sesame Sized Bodies Track that eventually became my favorite: Stay as Who You Are So I started with a couple I instantly liked, then I slowly grew fond of others, and eventually found my favorite amongst a track I had previously not completely clicked with. One of the beautiful things about the song style, is that there are so many parts to a song, so many changes, different moods, sounds, and catches laden within what can be longer tracks, where your favorite part is three minutes in, and in the process of waiting for it, discover new things you like just as much or possibly more. Listen after listen the album rose in my preference, and it soon became my favorite release by the band, as I found many things that connected with me, and appreciated the more overt nature of the emotion in this release, as opposed to their previous works. Track Count: 11 (Two short instrumentals, and 9 full tracks ranging from standard to longer length, yet the album blows by fast for me). Listens: 30-50 Production Quality: Great production, though my personal preference would be for an album with this range of instrumentation and tonality to have a bigger, clearer sound. Overall Rating: Worth the Purchase? If you enjoy the sound of Rave-up Tonight, and Virtue and Vice, I would say this will definitely not leave you with post-purchase regret. An experience all its own that shouldn`t be missed if you like the band`s style.

WRITE-UP: Matenrou Opera returns with an album that tastes like a concept album, yet leaves the over-all decision on whether it is or isn`t up to your interpretation. The term Avalon refers to a place in so-called Arthurian legend, where both the Excalibur was forged, and legendary knights as well as King Arthur himself was buried. Some speculate it to be an island off the coast of Scotland and Wales. The album is laden with sounds reminiscent of Medieval times, and song titles refer to heaven or paradise, which Avalon is a gateway to; that is where the concept album feel plays in, yet the songs actually tell varied tales which can not always be played in to the album`s title, and the inclusion of the previous single A-Side Orb further leads us astray. Concept album or not, this album is definitely not a collection of different tracks or hits thrown together. It plays more like a film cut into different parts, telling different stories, but almost always fitting a certain feel, and that is the experience you get from this album. It has a common title, but the experience is a unique one. The `Opera` touch of the delivery along with a unique vocalist matched with a hard band delivers a one-of-a-kind experience, and I think that is really what you are getting from this album. It`s not another rock album, not another VK album, it is something of its own, and you need to sample the singles from the album to see if you will enjoy this experience. One key thing to keep in consideration is if you like the vocalist and delivery, as this is a comon point of divergence amongst opinion. To me, this more of a sit-down and listen album rather than something you can throw on, although tracks like Orb, 隣に座る太陽 and クロスカウンターを狙え are the tracks I would think you are likely to throw on as stand-alone listens. The album doesn`t use hooks or catches as much as you would expect from a modern album, if you want a comparison, I would say it is more like Versailles from a different era. Track Count: 12 Listens: 15-20 Production Quality: Great sound, yet my personal preference is for a wider sound stage and more clarity in individual intruments, esp. more of the guitars.Though they seem to specifically like putting emphasis on the vocals. Overall Rating: Great album, defined, unique experience, listening on the I will skip some tracks, but if I want to let it play out there are no skip-inducing tracks. Worth the Purchase? For me, this is definitely worth the purchase. Although it is not an album that will get the most rotation. It is something I will keep in my library and bring out on occasion.
  4. Abridged version of a very interesting article by Esquire. I posted the short version to make an easier digest, but please read the whole thing: http://www.esquire.com/blogs/culture/gene-simmons-future-of-rock Please share your thoughts!
  5. I am a lazy writer so I'd rather copy everything what aramajapan said: and a "lead PV": Sounds solid.

Whats up guys, here we have a new band. After the last two single and the new single preview I'm thinking i really like them. For current vk, i'm thinking that they might be my number 3. I love the way they do metalcore, for me they do it best in vk (outside of vk I'm not sure). I like how the vocalist harsh vocals are not pathetic and are adding to the music. Clean sing wise it is good, but i not sure if he is really in it (singing from the heart), please tell what think about this. umm instrumental wise they have great break down, and other parts they are good. Also like the rap/cute bits. still waiting for them to make me cum. Looks: I like the first one, individuals for for eclipse and the last 2 were great (the vocalist character especially) . eclipse pv was horrible though.

WRITE-UP: The immensely popular Rock Band UVERworld returns with the album that I personally enjoy most out of their catalog to date. The tracks flow through many different musical styles and feelings, while staying anchored to the UVERworld signature product. What to expect most is lots of attitude (something I look for) and a rock album that you can pretty much bounce along to as if it were full of `hip-hop jams`except with heavy riffs, great drums, and a soaring sax to go along with the vocalists stand-up-and-shout microphone persona. I recommend this to any VK or Indie fans who haven`t already checked it out due to the band not fitting into their preferred genres. If you enjoy rock, musical creativity and just all around great production, give it a try. The lyrics, vocal ability and instrumentation all deliver. How quickly the album picks up on you may differ. Even for me as a fan, there were tracks that instantly clicked, and others which I had to give a few spins in order to get into and really feel. But after all the plays I eventually grew fond of listening to each and every track. Biggest Attention Grabbers: The singles including Fight For Liberty, Wizard Club and Nano Second, as well as the Underworld cover `Born Slippy` an underground classic from England, featured in the `cult-hit` Trainspotting, and referenced in the audio/music-phile Tomoki Kyoda`s anime Eureka Seven AO. Sleeper Tracks: 別世界 (betsusekai, lit. Seperate World, interpreted as Another World in common speech), and ENOUGH-1. Betsusekai would theoretically be an answer to anyone doubting that UVERworld could make a track like Born Slippy on their own. They step it up musically, and put together a jazz-rock structured jam that really takes me on an instrumental journey. ENOUGH-1 has a laid back Japanese Yankee kind of attitude to it, I imagine it as the perfect tune for a group to roll out to in the sunset as they hit the town for something wild. The lyrics, music and attitude grew on me with each listen and it became one of my go-to tracks when I slip my headphones on. Track Count: 14 (4 previously released, 3 of which are slightly modified for the album) Listens: 30-40 Production Quality: Amazing recording, mixing, timbre and overall feel. CD Print Quality: No perceptible flaws, perfect track synch, no artefacts. Overall Rating: They seem to have pulled off the exact feel and quality they were going for, I enjoy the album immensely, and in the right mood I don`t skip a single track.

Hey guys, as some might already know i also play in a band as saxophonist (or atm bassist) Funkômas (me is bottom row orange shirt btw) Facebook it was mainly a backgroundmusic-swing-coverband when i joined, but we now have changed towards only playing original self-composed material that borders into the aforementioned genres (i'd like to think it compares a bit to Tokyo Jihen, but that's probably a stretch/wishfull thinking) we released an album back in march (i think) and here is a little trailer of that here are some of the songs in full if you are interested in having a listen Friends Of Drug Abuse https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7899279/01%20Friends%20Of%20Drug%20Abuse.mp3 Happy Violence https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7899279/03%20Happy%20Violence.mp3 Modern Schizophrenic https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7899279/06%20Modern%20Schizophrenic.mp3 Rise Again https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7899279/09%20Rise%20Again.mp3 Your Brother https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7899279/10%20Your%20Brother.mp3 most of these songs (all save for 'brother') have been written by me, but the CD also features a bunch of songs from other bandmembers too. thanks in advance if you took the time to listen to some of the stuff, and even more thanks in advance if you decide to leave some feedback or sth

  10. 3 months ago I recorded my first vocal cover and for today I felt like revealing it Check out my soundcloud in case I've added more songs xD *Note: I don't own professional recording equipments. I use GarageBand from my Mac Laptop to record my covers. *Note 2: Pronounciation might not be 100% accurate as I'm not Japanese XD Note 3: Song requests are welcome, as long I don't need to scream in it or something XD Linh's vocal cover list #1 [Vocal cover] Diaura - Lily *note: I have recorded this song mulitple times because I failed on the lyrics. From all ~30 (?) samples, I choose this one for the best Feedback is always welcome, but don't be too harsh on me XD

Which part do you care about more, or end up leaning toward? Do both parts have to be good for you to listen to the band? Me personal, I'll go with vocalist because i don't really listen to music with out vocals. Also i can get attached to them, for example if a band disbands i want the vocalist to come back to music the most, and not so much the other members even if they were wonderful too. but then again the instrumental is what you moving to, hmmm what do you guys/gals think?
  13. Lets talk unclean vocals from vk or none vk, screams growls, pigsqeals, sqeals shouts, yells, whispers and whatever else you can think of thats used. Who do you love, like, love? Do you think it shold be all singing and unclean vocals sould die off? how do you like them used, what does make you feel? do you think a band should use more, less. Do you do them yourself. Me i love unclean vocals, i think they are needed even if they arnt as powerful as some outside bands. I really love it when "cute" band use them like Ichigo69 in Hakusho paradies (he needs to start useing them in vow), aicle, ayabie and an cafe in 3p (so mad thats the only one). Dont like it when the harsh vocals and instumental don't match like the harsh vocals are too weak for the track, or the track is to weak for the vocals. Sometimes i'll only like a band for their harsh vocals (unsraw,). love the guys who can scream, pig sqeal, and growl good (lustknot., arise in stability, FALILV, re:dis). love being cought off gard like with the raid. (he is a badass). love when the play with it (mejibray - sadistgate). maya in LM.C - metally sounded good. and if they are really good I'll try to figure out how to do them, (cant figure out llll -ligro-'s) My #1 harsh vocals go to Yuuki(Lycaon) for his earlyer work with screams in old Lycaon Enslavement beauty, royal order, and **88** are my fav. since new Lycaon isnt that hard he doesnt sound that harsh, which is smart. also notice he sqeals love those. And even after hearing brutal vocals from outside japan he still remains best. Top growlers and lows for me are from Ice/eros (BFN/xodiak), Otogi (awoi), Mao (sadie that might change because he starting to sound like kyo,i didnt like the ones in Madrigal De Maria) also like harsh vocals like signal ( screams only up to chain), LIV'ERT, grieva/reload, dio depain, nega, kiryu, megaromania, avelcain, Royz, quinstet, meth, Artema, wings work, aoi from ayabie etc. best female harsh are decola hopping and XECSNOIN dont like the ones like sel'm (unless they are done good like since 1889), the gaztte and div. D.i.D just seems random , but i dont mind as long as he is not grrrgaagara. NB is good too but i dont listen to them much. R-shitei, and existtrance need to come back.

Let's do a poll for MEJIBRAY's best MV of 2013! Because decadance was their last release for this year, I'm kinda curious about everyone's opinions! Which MEJIBRAY music video is the best of 2013? Make your choice! If possible please write why you have choosen for that MV. アヴァロン (Avalon) DIE KUSSE メサイア (Messiah) アプリオリ (A Priori) 醜詠 (Shuuei) DECADANCE - Counting Goats ... if I can't be yours - *click* My own opinion: I actually liked the MV Avalon the most. I really liked the effects in the music video and the colour contrast they used. I felt everyone of MEJIBRAY had a good and clear screentime. On a second place, I'd put Decadance MV because the song itselfs is totally amazing. At the end seeing Meto and Tsuzuku dancing *lol* was a precious moment to see.

so far from my (narrow) perspective i've never managed to find an actually solid korean rock-formation. korea appeared only as the embassedor of high-quality Pop and maybe a few dreamy acoustic-indie things (basing this observation mainly on the last 2-3 years of youtubes eatyourkimchi-indie-playlist), just as japan's pop-landscape mainly seems to focus on akb48-like bubblegum standard-boxset tracks and never quite accomplish the hights of BigBang, SHINee and the likes, whilst at the same time having a quite mentionable quirky indie-rock and hardcore/metal scene (maybe that view is distorted because of CAT5+Zess+Jigsaw.... constant output of such...) this here is actually the first time i saw a korean rockband and found it to be really solid, very arctic monkeys - ish. very catchy and the vocalist has a nice raspy voice. (also, dem guitar-gals boots *thumbsup) probably going to look for that album they also seem to be damn fine live, a couple of days they had a great pro-shot live-concert up on youtube, deleted it unfortunately already... EDIT: it is uploaded again! btw. they are quite the good looking bunch actually...
  20. Let's do a battle with Ayabie VS AYABIE! I think this is a really interesting band battle www Which band do you prefer the most? The old Ayabie or the newer one? Also... why?! Members are all the same, except the change in vocals. Ayabie (彩冷える) [2010] AYABIE [2011+] For me I'd choose the old Ayabie because I just love Aoi's voice. And it also sounded more Oshare kei-like then the newer one.

Let's make a review out of this MEJIBRAY mini-album release: MESSIAH.bat To be honest, I was really looking forward to this release and from the preview sample it looked kinda good + their looks are awesome...! ....so I put my hopes up until it was released. At first listen to this mini-album, I was kinda impressed but after a few listens I recognized some songs from their previous releases/they've used some instrumentals from what they had released before. I think they've kinda overworked themselfs like all their ideas are gone. But I'll review each song also... Messiah.bat The intro starts with some Tsuzuku grows afterwards they let MiA do the same guitar riff from their previous release ''KILLING ME'', it sounds cool but kinda a no-no for repeating in a new song. The chorus is really catchy, totally love it! Also the up-beats are nice, it keeps you in the song. Overall it's a great song to listen to. Falling ''Maria'' The intro starts again with some previous release melody, what I can get out of it is: APOCALYPSE & THINKER. Hmmm... I don't think there's actually anything new to this song, but it's good. 【worms】 I hate to say this, but the intro is like DEVIL ON THE BED by The GazettE & Diaura - Terrors, but with electro elements in it. I think this is the only song I really dislike on their new mini-album. Great to see they try some electro elements again, but I think their darker music like their 1st mini-album / Sadisgate / Sabato / KILLING me are suiting them much better. Just saying~ - 枷と知能 -それってとても人間らしいって神様は笑ってるの- Another electro elemento song, but I approve this one, it's not bad. It reminds me of their other song Mechanical Beauty, from some of those vocal parts. www Also the lyrics lol, what I can get what Tsuzuku singing, the song is about ''fucking''? lol ... ''You say I'm fucking to, fucking you over''♪ (or something close to that xD) I think they didn't need to add any electro elements, since it's already good in the parts without them. But overall, cool song. - insomnia Finally some darker song, the intro starts with a dark sounding piano.... sweet! The drums are really sweet here, same kind of drum beats used in Akercock (YEAH www) I also love the bass in this song that goes great along with the guitar. Just an amazing song! Actually this kind/type of songs should be used in this whole mini-album in my opinion. I think this was clearly the best song out this mini-album. All the other songs seems kinda weaker. Let's hope they'll do better next time with brand new ideas, also like I said before... I really think they are overworked. They've released so much in short time... they need time to get fresh ideas.
  22. Let's also do a review about Keke's 2nd single release ''Cosmike Alice Wonderland'' Those who're able to listen to this, please make a review! - コズミケアリスワンダラン This song is more a rock/pop song, compared to his first single. I guess this shows some more of his other talent. It's really a good oshare kei song, plus the PV is really cool. Fooooooood, everywhereeeeeee~ it makes me hungry. This is his first PV that looks really good made, sadly he didn't include this in his single ;< - スウィイトポイズンファクトリィ Hmmm.. about this song, it gives me some Halloween vibe actually, reminds me a bit of Halloween Junky Orchestra but it's more.. how should I put it... some crazy song? lol Somewhere at the end of the song he sings in some autotune/vocaloid-voice, usually I dislike those voices but this is pretty okay. A very cool song. - ワンダランクロウラア I think this song is my favorite song. It's really a rockish song-only, it really feels like he's back in a VK-band again, I can even imagine a music video from this song. So... this song is different from the 2 songs above. That's really a good thing, 'cause this track is really outstanding!!
  23. Okay, let's do a review about けけ(ヶ´∀`)'s DARUMAROMAN single! I'd love to hear your opinion! In short: - DARUMAROMAN This is my favorite song of the whole single. It's a happy-cheerfully song. Also, if you haven't seen his dance cheography yet, you gotta check that out! It's really a cute dance which you can easily learn as well! But anyways, this song is the best! It's really a creative but poppish-like song. I think it's really Keke-alike song...! it kinda shows his character / how a cheerful person he is. - MADa☆YADa This song is sweet, like a lullaby for me if I can't sleep. It's softer than the DARUMAROMAN song actually, but I like it. - Hello, Worker This song is also some softer song like MADa☆YADa, but has more some kind of up-beat. I think this song is also pretty, you can hear his softer voice also Overall, it's a good single, all 3 songs are really enjoyable to listen. If you haven't tried this single yet, I really recommend you to listen!
  24. Lately ive started to listen to Pinoy music and i must say they have some great and awesome bands , so i thought i share one of them with all off you , of course it will be just some info with some songs from youtube to give them a listen . ChicoSci is 5 piece rock band from Manila , Philippines . They started in 1996 named Chico Science , but theyre debut album "Revenge of the Giant Robot" was released 4 years later in 2000 . Their early stuff was mainly nu-metal/rapcore but after the first album they started to get some more melodic feel to their music , also they changed theyre name to ChicoSci . In 2012 they released theyre newest album "This Is Not A Chicosci Record" , i highly recommend this album to everyone . Its a great mix of different genres like post hardcore , alternative rock , new wave and pop punk . Just one listen to this and youre gonna love it , cause this albums is a masterpiece .
