  1. No matter how hard I try, I can't get into Cardi B's music. I just get meangirl vibes from her music, and I'm sick of dealing with petty ass meangirls IRL, what makes you think I'm gonna handle a musician who makes it part of her music? lmao

I don't get it too, and if you ask me she's constantly getting carried by a great beat, a great feature, or just both. Absolutely not my cup of tea, and it's a shame how many brilliant beats she's ruined by now. It's a shame.

His looks were almost as bad as the music itself, and that kinda says a lot. This is some sort of a parody joke band, right?

Nah boi. These guys got a lot of recognition in different metal communities back in 2013-15, and there was a lot more hype surrounding them back then than now.

      Great band BTW.

It doesn't sour my enjoyment of the show, but I agree with the above. Just like jrock/visual kei, hip hop, heavy metal and so on. The culture surrounding it is fucking awful, but it doesn't sour my enjoyment of the good things about 'em. I'll just not associate with the things that annoy me.

      But the show: brilliant!

  11. 2019 was good year to start getting into rap and hip hop:

    1. Bear

      Bear

Yeah, but if you haven't been into rap before now you seriously need to check out the classics from the 80's and 90's. Straight Outta Compton, The Chronic, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Mama Said Knock You Out, Raising Hell and so on. The amount of must-hear hip hop albums from the 80's and 90's are just insane. Very different from modern stuff tho, but it's not unusual to hear some very, very, very clear nods towards the older stuff.

And if you're into the whole Atlanta trap scene and trap music in general then the 90's Memphis scene is a must. "Everyone" from Drake and Migos to ASAP Ferg, Asap Rocky, Cardi B, Rae Sremmurd, Young Buck, Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, Chief Keef, Trippie Redd, Lil Yachty, Suicideboys, ScHoolboy Q, E-40, Waka Flocka Flame and many, many more have either used some well-known Three 6 Mafia flows/verses or had beats with Three 6 Mafia samples or just remixed some tracks. Which I really like btw, and it's about time Three 6 Mafia and the Memphis scene finally got the recognition it deserves. Which is also why Juicy J pops up everywhere nowadays. Well deserved. Easily my favourite rap scene and many of my favourite 90's hip hop albums were released by Memphis artists.

The whole "Migos flow" which has been incredibly popular these last decade is basically nothing but a (Three 6 Mafia) Lord Infamous flow, which was a flow that got pretty popular in the Memphis scene during the 90's. And Migos quite obviously got it from them. Such a sexy flow too.

Have you ever seen a Thor movie or even read the comics? You do know that beside being inspired by Thor, the god from Norse mythology, he's just a silly fucking comic book character like? And it's not like the male Thor in the comics, or movie, are very masculine to begin with. So if anything you should be angry at everything Thor, both male and female, as he is, by far, the most silly and easily among the least masculine character from The Avengers.

I don't see the problem here. At all. Jane Foster has already appeared in the movies, and all the way back in 1978, Jane Foster, the character played by Natalie Portman in the movies, was deemed worthy of Mjolnir which made her take the name Thor, the Goddess of Thunder.

Like, why should this be a problem? Shouldn't we be happy that they actually pick storylines and characters from a broad array of comics, instead of the usual?

I guess we should cry about Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, Batman Ninja, Into the Spider-Verse and so on too for not following the standard and most known story lines and characters as well?

  14. So after doing Shin Godzilla, Hideaki Anno's apparently gonna be working on Shin Ultraman next. Shin Gamera fucking when?!?!?!?!?!?

    1. Bear

      Bear

Shin Godzilla was so good. Can't wait till they can begin producing new Godzilla movies in Japan again. If the plans they've talked about gets going it's gonna be insane. "World of Godzilla", a cinematic universe akin to MCU where they will produce a film either every single or second year based on the monsters from the original Godzilla universe. I can't wait for the ball to start running on that one.

It's sad the americans can't produce films 1/100th as good as Shin Godzilla. For some reason they continue to put emphasis on boring human beings and, for most part, their uninteresting families. The best American Godzilla movie is only as good as the worst Japanese Godzilla tbh.

  15. @Bear @Jigsaw9 @Himeaimichu hey guys, where do you watch your taiga dramas or asian tv shows/movies in general? i'm most interested on the japanese ones at the moment. So far i've found a site called " newasiantv.tv " , which is pretty good there's LOADS of stuff there, but the ones about Yoshitsune and Takeda Shingen have no english sub,so perhaps you guys have a source that i'm still not aware of. i'm also looking foward the meiko kaiji movies or any old school stuff from the same genre,so if you guys are into it as well, pls link me,even youtube channels can serve well.

I don't watch regular dramas, but I'm very much into old Japanese cinema. Especially all forms of exploitation cinema, chambara and horror.  Several of my all time actors are Japanese actors whow ere active in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Meiko Kaiji, Sonny Chiba, Tomisaburo Wakayama, Shintaro Katsu, Toshiro Mifune, Reiko Ike and more.

But regular dramas I am not too keen on.

Highly recommend checking out more or less everything with Meiko Kaiji, including her music. But Blind Woman's Curse, Stray Cat Rock franchise, The Sasori franchise, The Gincho series, Lady Snowblood I & II, Yakuza Graveyard, Battles Without Honor and Humanity franchise (cast is a bit random, but thoughout you'll see Meiko Kaiji, Sonny Chiba, Tomisaburo Wakayama and Reiko Ike among others).

So yeah, I like old Japanese cinema. And as far as all types of exploitation, chambara (and samurai movies in general) and horror goes, I am a huge nerd.

  17. wanted to make a topic about the positive and negative aspects about finding new bands on internet.I mean,i remember when i didn't have access to internet and each album that i could buy,i used to spend weeks listening to the same stuff.Nowadays there's so many good stuff and infinite options floating online, that even though i discover some  incredible  music  i feel like i never give the "proper" attention it actually deserved due to the fact that i'm always  busy giving attention and discovering other stuff each day.my english suck, but thats it,not sure if its worth making a topic for it. (and of course it is better with internet lol)

    1. Bear

      Bear

Pros: easy to find new bands, can listen before you buy and so on. And the sheer amount of bands gives you countless options.

Cons: the sheer amount of albums being released makes it so hard to keep up, and to find a proper diamond you basically have to check out a lot of albums because everything drowns among the amount of albums. And I don't feel like I have as much time to give albums the time they need to truly shine.

Back in the days, way before I had internet, the way we bought albums was simple: we bought magazines with reviews and after a while we got to know the tastes of the reviewers. So we knew who was matching our tastes in music and not. So if an album got a proper good review we'd go out to the music stores close to us and give a few tracks a listen there, and then buy it if it sounded good. And then for the next weeks that's the album(s) we'd be spinning on repeat. It was fun, but at the same time we did buy a lot of albums that gave off a good first impression, but we ended up getting rid off. Felt like such a waste of money. Nowadays that just doesn't happen to me, unless I just buy something blind which I do every now and then. Because that's a lot of fun, but sadly too expensive.

This is the same as with movies, video games and so on too. Same shit. When we bought, or even rented, movies and games back in the days we ALWAYS saw/played it through. No matter how bad our first impression was we watched or played the entire thing through. Sometimes it payed off, other times we felt betrayed. :P

  18. Does any of you know about any blog or page dedicated to Asian horror/suspense movies. I'm kinda tired of the north American ones and I don't know from where to start with the Asian ones .Just watched Noroi and Ju-on (again) and they were just super eerie, that caught my attention .if you know about one dedicated to the Italian ones, would be a good as well. THX!

      Bear

Do you want old classic Japanese horror movies (50's through 80's), or more modern?

As for older stuff you got superb movies like The Depths (1957), Ghost Story of Yotsuya (1959), Jigoku (1960), Curse of the Mushroom People (1963), Onibaba (1964), Kwaidan (1964), Illusion of Blood (1965), Kuroneko (1968), Ghost Story of the Snow Witch (1968), Ghost Story of the Snake Woman (1968), Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968), Horror of a Deformed Man (1969), Black Cat's Revenge (1970), Hausu (1977), Evil Dead Trap (1988), Tetsuo, the Iron Man (1989) and hella lot more that's mandatory as far as Japanese horror movies goes.

      For newer:

One Missed Call, Suicide Club, Marebito, Retribution, Cure, Uzumaki, Dark Water, Grudge, Audition, Kairo, Ringu, Exte: Hair Extensions, Gozu, Ichi the Killer, Battle Royale,Strange, Circus, Tokyo Gore Police, The Machine Girl, Meatball Machine and so on.

A lot to choose from, and a lot of different type of movies. But from what you're saying I would say movies like One Missed Call, Cure, Dark Water, Kairo, Exte: Hair Extensions, Marebito, The Depths, Ghost Story of Yotsuya, Jigoku, Onibaba, Kwaidan andGhost Story of the Snow Witch could be close to what you're looking for. Atmospheric, suspenseful and very good, albeit some better than others. But all worth seeing.

Some of the other movies I mentioned, like Gozu, The Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police, Meatball Machine, Tetsuo, the Iron Man and Hausu are more on the weird, fucked up and surprising side of things. But all are great, and I consider all of these must see for fans of splatter and gore (The Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police, Meatball Machine), and fans of complete and utter madness and weirdness (Gozu, Tetsuo, the Iron Man, Hausu).

I forgot to say what I was looking for. So what I am looking for is a drawn diamond ice cube that is slowly melting, so there's a small "pond" of water where it stands. All of it on a black background.

This picture is pretty close to what I think I am looking for, but there has to be a small "pond" of water where it is standing. It's a diamond made out of ice that is very slowly melting. And of course, it can't look this real because, like I said, we're talking of a diamond shaped ice cube.

Nothing wrong with the message, but I'm not really a big fan of using subjects like this to cash in on. And the way I see it, they don't exactly give the subject matter the respect and attention it truly deserves here. Feels like they're actually taking a serious subject that should be addressed further, and make it a lot smaller and less relevant than what it is.

It doesn't exactly help that the commercial itself is pretty bad. Looks like a cheap, no-budget and embarrassingly mediocre school project made by teenagers who's only done something like this a couple of times before.
