aula is a top-notch album, i remember loving it when it came out. scored a cheapo copy on Third Stage back in the day and was super psyched. haven't organically thought about this band in years, but now i'm tempted to give it a spin again.

Though fairly unknown to the Western fandom, Rouage is a KEY listening for everyone interested in the development of visual kei as a scene! Their stuff is very genuine; I still haven't heard it replicated in any band that came after.

Btw, their A-sides are top bops! So catchy!

    Very interesting experience overall!

@Tokage Unfortunately, you're 100% right. If a Smart TV needs to listen for your command, it's listening all the time. Same thing applies to Big Brother Alexas/Homes. No thanks. Sadly, I can't break from my phone just yet 😧

@tetsu_sama69 I know, right? We got on fine without this shit 10 years ago. I would argue that it's actually made the last decade more worse than better. Gonna miss the family communication, but what can ya do

@nomemorial I was literally 'endless scrolling' as I was trying to delete it. It's crazy how addictive it is and the developers of the platform know it; it was created with that in mind. I'm going to miss following my bands too, ugh

nomemorial got a reaction from zombieparadise in Call me a n00b all you want, but when someone talks about 'mixing' making or breaking
Mixing definitely makes a huge impact on the final product. A poor mix job can totally lose parts of songs and distort the way it's meant to be heard, a good mix job can change an entire record.

Not sure of any VK examples, but good examples in Western stuff are From First To Last's "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count" which has two mixes that were released, the latter of which was done because the original was so poor (and the difference is really noticeable). The same can be said about the remixed/remastered version of Dance Gavin Dance's "Acceptance Speech," which straight up makes an "okay" album into a great one.

Not to say I don't understand your viewpoint - I think a lot of people miss the effect this process has on record-making - but when you can audibly hear the difference in the same songs, it really helps understand the impact!

95% of the time it doesn't matter to me, except if it's something that comes out flat (like a lot of Starwave bands) or if it's so sharp it actually hurts to listen to (Virge's CD version of "Vanish" has this issue, but the PV version is fine).

nomemorial got a reaction from Demivee in Going to Japan for my very first time in February! I'm trying to visit as much concer
Congrats - you'll have a blast!! I only got to attend 2 lives during my time in Japan, but there were 8 acts at the second live so I felt like a got at least a solid taste.

Out of everyone I saw, I would argue the gulu gulu and MAMIRETA are absolute must-sees. Extremely high energy and fun from start to finish.

I would also include DIMLIM in this sentiment, but I don't know how they've been since losing 2 members so I can't confidently say either way. They were great when I saw them, though - very emotive, raw performance, especially compared to many of the other bands that played.

Past that, Hueye and MonstlloW impressed me a lot for newer bands so if you happen to catch them at a live you won't be disappointed.

    Have fun!!!

Been on Android since Note 7 (RIP) and haven't looked back since. My wife's iPhone gives her nothing but problems (gotta love planned obsolescence and Apple is truly the KING of the concept) and Apple's "security measures" are somehow overwhelming and entirely ineffective at the same time. On a Note 9 now and it's the best phone I've ever owned by a very large margin.

nomemorial reacted to God in Seeing as we've been on the subject of gender and whatnot for the past few days now,
tbh idk if suspending him for 3 weeks is the appropriate response.  like, tbh i don’t think that teacher knew enough about the subject to actually handle the situation. intersex is biology, and biology is scientific.  what would the kid have said if it was explained to him that way?

the other side of it is, regardless of his intent, it is incredibly taxing, disheartening, and extremely exhausting to be invalidated by someone saying “no, you’re wrong and the way you present yourself is made-up.” hearing this kind of thing over and over again is a pretty common experience for nb and trans folk.  i mean, imagine your entire existence being brought into question, your entire existence made into some dumb political debate when it doesn’t need to be.  at the end of the day, who cares?  invalidation is definitely a contributing factor in trans/nb folk committing suicide.  i’m not really sure how else to explain it.

at most, i imagine that whatever someone who genuinely believes there are only two genders experiences when confronted  with the other side of this feels is angry or annoyed.  this kid’s existence isn’t being questioned.  being told your opinion is harmful isn’t the same thing as being told that you’re wrong for wanting to be content in how you present yourself.

it’s sort of difficult to explain this.  it’s sort of like how a white guy won’t ever know what it’s like to be black, or a straight guy won’t know what it feels like to be gay.  cis people can’t know what it feels like to be trans/nb, and i have absolutely no idea what it feels like to be cis.  i hope this makes sense, tho.  i’m just trying to weigh in on the other side of things.  again, i do feel like a 3 week suspension is excessive, especially given the staff’s seemingly i’ll equipped manner in handling the initial situation.

I don't think I've ever naturally met another VK fan outside of maybe at an anime convention or something. I know people who know of Dir en grey, but not so much in the context of visual kei, rather just as a "crazy metal band."

We've all made mistakes (especially on the internet, lol). No reason to jump on the "everyone hates me" train. It's a poor mindset that (whether you realize it or not) only serves to diminish your apology and negate your culpability. As was said above, take it as a learning point and it'll do you good.

I got into VK at a relatively young age and was, for the most part, pretty socially inept at the time. I look back on that part of my life with a fair bit of disappointment and disdain for the way that I acted and the way that I treated others, whether I realized it or not. I only reference this because much of what you're saying/doing here hits eerily close to home with the way I once was so, as someone who has maybe been in similar shoes, try to take my word for it - criticism is more often constructive than not and a community that is willing to accept you while calling you on your shit is worthwhile regardless of the fandom it's attached to.

More concisely said - no one hates you, dig what you dig, and don't dwell on your own mistakes - just learn, move on, and grow. 👍

It's all good. Don't be too hard on yourself. Just keep doing you, and try to consider your actions. The golden rule "Do unto others as you would like done unto yourself " never fails!
