Well, the time has come, so I'm just going to say it: Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is a disgrace of an anime sequel, maybe even the worst one I have seen this year lol. Gonna rant but hide under spoilers cuz...yeah.

Unless this show suddenly makes a full 180 and decides to finally build on the recognized characters from the previous series (I wonder if trailers for this show pulled people in with that gimmick of older character appearances...) or improve on the new characters better, it's a lost cause at this point.

    Anime doesent suck
It swallows I've only watched 3 series
Yugioh, death note (screw season 2), monster (only for Johan and they showed him like for 15 episodes)
But nowadays it's either retarded fantasy, or knockoffs for example a colourfull skank, a op long haired repetitive main character, overdone settings, the list won't end the only thing I've ever liked about anime is like back in 2006 back when the Internet was a whole and not divided into tribes of elitist fucks scrubbing public attractions (woman rights, Lgbt rights, this goes on forever) so don't blame anime it's been a while since anyone's actually used creation or imagination because most retarded fucks only ever like imagining them being in the position of the mc feeling the desolate emotions of degeneration

I'm subscribed to him and have seen the vid. He's got one specifically for VK and I think it was posted here at some point.
Whang used to be mad into VK, as he is relatively our age group, but has since gone more of the metal route since then.

Edit: Here's that other vid Link

My assumption is that MISC is what it is because that’s the best type of music to write when you’ve only got a guitarist, a drummer, and a vocalist. And really I can’t imagine what Dimlim sounded like live as three piece playing Chedoara material. When the laptop freezes there goes the bassist and other guitarist.

It's a subscription service that showcases mostly anime films if I'm not wrong and their line up changes every month. Since this month they have two Yuasa films, I'm gonna go for the free-trial. Atm I'm only subscribed to Crunchyroll, but the Funimation subscription catalogue has my attention. I don't wanna sign up to any more services and all the series I keep up with are aired on CR including the upcoming AOT, Promised Neverland and Dr Stone.

So my woman, who doesn't know a thing about Japanese music, has been using my spotify account lately. Out of curiosity, she went through some of my old playlists, and she really digs EGO-WRAPPIN'...

And of course she does. My music taste is immaculate.

Japan has always had this admirable way of portraying modesty vs indecency through mediums such as animation, where the existence of Ecchi anime, imo, (the good ones at least) proved that there can be a plot (probably how the joke started) to go with the lewdness, great example being my favorite of the genre: Golden Boy. The Ecchi genre now is a former shell of itself (not gonna go off-topic with my complaints) that I've become numb to many antics that I would consider "yawn" worthy. It just doesn't flow seamlessly and so it feels forced in a show that sometimes has great potential but falls short.

I'm not gonna give you a MAL- length review on why Shimoneta is on my top list (I could though haha) but this show approaches both sides of the morality fence perfectly, sometimes even tossing them both out the window, leaving you with those moments of weakness that prove just how pointless it is to be worrying about "right and wrong", bringing back that Ecchi nostalgia where I felt that this should be normal at this point.

Prison School is a completely different beast and one I applaud mostly because it's a big "open your fucking eyes" to morally-wound people that think these characters don't exist irl.  The indecency of many types of people that exist (the perverts, the masochists, the possessive/abusive types, and all the sexual fetish-ers) are shown here in their normalcy because they do in fact exist and this is the purest, raw form of what these people are truly like, no harem-joke bullshit and no stupid half-hearted attempts to be edgy, it just comes naturally and feels that way watching it. This show is what real fans of the genre want as the next big thing and Japan delivered. I'm proud lol.

I'm extremely surprised that SHIMONETA, a *modern* ecchi series with extremely childish jokes is in YOUR favorites.

But even I, senior hater of ecchis and harems, enjoyed that series. It was super entertaining, cleverly dumb and the characters were fun.  I'm also surprised Prison School is there too, but the first half of the manga is in my all time faves. This is why we get along @YuyoDrift

    My top 5

Started watching late 90s/00s when I was around 5 or 6. First anime was either Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura.

    1. FMA Brotherhood (we're never getting this level of quality in the industry again)
    2. Space Dandy
    3. Kill la Kill
    4. Yu Yu Hakusho
    5. Rurouni Kenshin (Shishio Arc only)

I would add Cardcaptor Sakura somewhere in my list, but I'm gonna rewatch it first to see if it's still as good as I thought. Previous favorites that got booted off the list after a rewatch include Sailor Moon and 2 seasons of Rurouni Kenshin.

Honorable mentions: Devilman Crybaby, Samurai Champloo, Made in Abyss, JJBA Battle Tendency, Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai

Would it help if you add in when you started watching anime? I'm looking at some of these and could use that info to not judge your guys' tastes lol.

Began watching: 1996 with Sailor Moon

    1. Golden Boy (English Dub)
    2. Vision of Escaflowne (English Dub)
    3. FLCL (I'm being reasonable here) (English Dub)
    4. Initial D
    5. Violet Evergarden (English Dub was good. #fightme)

Cowboy Bebop/Samurai Champloo/Trigun would be in this list, but I wanted to take into account more than just the impact/nostalgia.
Plus they are timeless classics, so people are already aware they would be on people's top 5.

edit: Also for shits, I am now adding my 6-10 here.

YuyoDrift got a reaction from beni in City Pop (シティーポップ) Thread
It was only a matter of time before I created this thread lol so here we are.

City Pop, also known/seen as シティーポップ (shitī poppu) online, is the name given to the fusion genre of funk/disco/jazz/easy-listening music that existed in Japan from the late 70's and well into the 80's, where it became the national soundtrack of the times, providing an urban expression to the success and wonders of the city-life. Japan at this time was thriving due to the technological advancements during the 70's that allowed Japan's economy to explode when it came to exportation of consumer electronics and more, essentially making them a conglomerate for tech in the next decade that followed, and creating what many refer to as an "economic miracle", yet to be seen again today.

Here are several articles I've saved over the years if you'd like to know more:

    The Musical Almanac: Japan’s City-Pop
The Breathless Bliss of City Pop
A Dreamy Trip back to Japans Capitalist Fantasy of the 1980s
A Guide to City Pop, the Soundtrack for Japan’s Bubble-Era Generation

The recent return of the genre state-side (we're always late to this stuff) by a number of DJs on YouTube, SoundCloud, and even Band Camp have given City Pop a breath of new life, and the reception has been so great that studios existing back then have since remastered and re-released albums (even on vinyl) for collectors and new fans alike.

    Edit: According to @colorful人生:

    Very Cool!

While City Pop predates the surge of JPOP in the 90's and can be seen as one genre as a whole, I felt that City Pop deserved its own thread as the number of releases that spanned the 70's-80's are ENDLESS, and even today new music artists utilize/associate the music genre to their own work, so it's safe to make the distinction between the two.

Now I don't have a starter-pack for those looking to get into the genre, but I've listened to a major chunk of the releases online to give a great recommendations list for those curious. These releases are easily available on YouTube, are varied in musical style and year of release, and they were some of the first listens for me when I got started, so hopefully at least one of them will interest you guys.

I just recovered some of my old music and this post made for the perfect excuse to dig this album out of the vault.  Its been so long that its gonna be like hearing it for the first time again. I'm only two songs in and its a banger, but I'm getting all of the nostalgic feeeeeelllssss.

    Edit:
Move On Darkness stands out from the previous songs in a good way and the ending vocals gave me tingles. B.C. is just one of those songs that is very easy to listen to without being boring. The guitar solo breaks it up nicely, so for that I love it. I'll listen to Eve just for the piano intro. Freesia is definitely the perfect way to end to the album. Overall, I'm team Move On Darkness as my favorite. I just viiibbbe with it. The album is very cohesive and like others have said it has that story telling quality that sets apart an album from being just music, to an entire experience.

Shit, now I’m thinking he was waiting for VK to get to the lowest point it ever could (bands disbanding in droves, live houses in shambles, the rich and powerful getting more exposure to the Yoshiki business model) before releasing it since nothing else would come out for weeks and promotion would be easy.

Probably thinks he will save VK with it 😂. If he does, wow.....and now that I think of it, I expect donations to Japan’s most affected musical areas to be his targets, but for a musician to care about the places that made them big is rare.
