Definitely a popular opinion for the more seasoned anime otakus like moi and people around the 30 year age. I didn't know that the 15min episode thing was a trend right now, wtf? I was playing that Saiki-K in the background and noticed that, but I didn't know other shows are doing it now, ughhhh. I always thought it was some terrible method to present children's anime shows from 20 years ago (like shin-chan or whatever) that would only stay in that area of anime.

Same as @LIDL. I can fit all my playlists from iTunes onto my current iPhone, which I had organized from scratch long ago, so the need to stream any of it is not necessary. Should I forego the apple products in the near future though, I'd probably buy a standalone MP3 player and reserve digging through my entire collection through a web-based RDP session like Google Chrome's. I used to always have a separate MP3 player with about 8GBs of room so I can always drag and drop new stuff and listen to it on-the-go, so it wouldn't be hard for me to return to that. edit: I see @spockitty did the same thing lol I could always just pay for a streaming service if I want to hear anything US-based too.

    Go back to reddit, scum.

I'd say more established cosplayers in general are like this, but even then it's both Japanese and American as a whole, and done purposely for IRL fan service. Amateur cosplayers aren't at all like this, and they can be cute and wholesome to boot. This comes from someone who doesn't understand/care for the whole cosplay thing, but appreciates the reasoning as to why people do it.

As accents to things like car dress-up kits, dinnerware, or cables for organization. Would you leave a job for another job in another country?

definitely with the coffee cans for sure.

I didn't even think about the benefits for the environment lol From my own experience, people will tend to finish their soft drink a lot faster at food joints if the lid is not on there. Not sure if it's because of the constant eye contact with the liquid and people want the level to decrease faster by drinking more so they don't have to take the cup with them after they're done, or other reasons I don't think about myself. Coffee is another thing I notice people will drink a lot faster with no lid too, probably for the same reasons above + the fact that it will get cold faster so there's a priority to drink the coffee before that happens.

    Drinking from a cup w/o a lid > Drinking from a cup w/ a lid/straw

Do people not actually think things through when deciding to be an online influencer/media personality? Maybe its too easy an outlet to become one I guess, but if the thought that your "followers" could one day turn on you never crossed you mind, well I don't really feel bad because that's just what happens to people like you.

It's all a part of "being in the know" with social media, even though you don't know what you know. Also a reflection of the celeb life, so there's nothing new there.
  11. Those fan comments really make me cringe. Edit: "Yoshiki for President of the United States 2020!!" - Which one of you did this?!?!?
  12. I fucking knew this motherfucker did something to that scarf lol now they're all under his spell.

Not sure if it was discussed in previous pages, but one artist that shot up in popularity during as early as 2000 was Hitomi Yaida. I always praise her, as she was one of first to play around with that heartfelt and artistic form of music that other artists after her like YUI, Aiko, Miwa, and Ayaka still use years later. My favorite song of hers will always be Mikansei No Melody from her 2002 album i/flancy.

The only songs I ever knew from them (they were the hardest fucking group to look up music for lol) were "my will" from the first ED of Inuyasha, and "movin' on", and from them I discovered other artists from this time period too by mistake. It was also my first time learning about how girl groups in Japan are formed.

Whoa, @spockitty you just helped me find the original song to this lol I was a crazy fan of these compilation albums more than 10 years ago. Never knew that it was Eiko Shimamiya's ひぐらしのなく頃に. WOW, so I have heard of her apparently lol.

Not a prob. I actually forgot about Coloris and Chiptek so it was nice to listen to those releases again. From what I remember, Towa Tei and Cornelius were names thrown into She's direction, due to how similar their sound was. So definitely look them up too, but just a warning that they dabbled in EVERYTHING (mainly pop/hip-hop), so it's not just 8bit stuff. Also, you'll eventually run into DJ's like MONDO GROSSO (used to be known as Shinchi Osawa) and fall into the hip/hop & Jazztronic music craze so take it easy lol.

Definitely remember KOKIA when she and a few others like KOTOKO, LiSA, and I think Mami Kawada started bringing the whole anime song (anison) craze from Nico Nico to the mainstream. Last artists I remember before I took my break were Eir Aoi with her music in KILL LA KILL/SAO and Maon Kurosaki with her tracks in HOTD. I've never heard of Eiko Shimamiya, which is odd because I used to listen to all of the above artists, including others like MELL, which her music reminds me of. Also a tad like artist Lia from a few years before, but she was more into the trance/eurobeat stuff. I did listen to BBS and Capsule, but I didn't want to spill it all out and have nothing to talk about lol. She I'm surprised to be brought up here, as not a lot of people listen to chiptunes/8bit/electrobit stuff anymore, and Orion was actually nice to listen to. They often compare them to Towa Tei and Cornelius, right?

Holy shit, I just realized I never posted in this thread lol. It seems to have died out, but maybe it's not too late for a revival. I'm a long time fan of JPOP, currently listening to music from as far back as the 80's, but my heart belongs to the bands from the 90s like TRF, ZARD, Globe, Day After Tomorrow, and a lot of others under the powerhouse that was AVEX at the time. The aesthetic of this era of JPOP is real to me. Even bands that we consider visual like GLAY and L'arc-en-Ciel were on my radar for some time because they had pop rock songs that became popular along with other bands like B'z, Spitz, and even the pillows during their early years. Never got around to listening to Mr. Children or Southern All Stars though 🤔. More of my nostalgia talk here. Man, time flies lol. I'm curious as to how many underground artists and bands existed back then, from those who know more, as I'd like to one day return to the 90's era and see what I can find. Seems this thread cropped up right around when I took a break to listen to VK as my newer main. I have been trying to learn as much as I can about new artists since my return a few years ago, so this thread definitely helps. Hopefully one day I'll catch up cuz I can't even remember new names and who's actually still active lol. Any 90's JPOP fans still around here?

What's with all the vocalists having R's? Lol. I can't base much of her vocal capability from this live clip, but she does have the range to cover both the past vocalist's material. I just wonder if the intensity that both past vocalists had will be retained somewhat. This clip tells me no, but again, it's not a good reference. Here's a cover for mermaid that I found in the related videos section. Definitely going to have to depend on the song she covers, but I think it's fine. It's going to be exciting to see what sort of shift in sound they're gonna take once the new vocalist gets situated.

Well, being mindful has always been a way of life that for the most part, I felt was acceptable in the USA leading up to today's society. Only now the monstrosity that is social media has torn apart the very definition of it/how we perceive it. There are articles online attacking this idea of being mindful, as if it was never a part of the word "awareness" in the first place. It's actually worrying because being mindful is one of the last rational ways of living for people with neutral/centered ways of thinking. Suddenly, being mindful is the same as doing nothing or choosing to be ignorant, and for the most part, makes us selfish assholes. Society has definitely gone downhill online alright, I just hope that their shortsightedness at what they're doing isn't going to be the ace-in-the-hole for those who felt that the govt controlling the internet is a better solution to all this. It's getting pretty hard to argue it these days. Not to give you more to think about, but have you ever wondered walking among random people on the street/socializing with them, if they have an online presence that's more than just simple web browsing? What I mean is, there are people you will meet at the store, a bar, an event outside where the need to be online is at it's lowest, and you can tell that they couldn't care less about what happens in the world, because they are living their own lives. This is what Americans used to be like, right? What's going to happen when the newer generations of people no longer live this way, as their online presence is now a part of their irl identity? Those people you meet right now are going to be gone, and what's going to be left is individuals that can't seem to leave the online issues they become aware of at home, and bring all that crap out to the rest of the busybodies that are just like them and...... good god I can't even imagine it. Are those people even living anymore?
  24. Dude these musicians need to start getting smarter about using this stuff. What form of cannabis was it, if I may ask? I know that Japan is HEAVILY promoting vape pens as an alternative right now, and it's legal to sell them, just not stuff itself.
  25. and it's back to blowing money on trips home again ......
