I have always had a feeling that stuff like overdoses are more often reported in terms of the physical issue caused by the overdose.
Not to say I think every brain aneurysm or hemorrhage is a case of kakuseizai or anything, but any combination of smoking/heavy drinking/upper use puts you at a bigger risk than other people in the same age bracket. Plus like Zeus said, throw stress into the mix and it's all the more dangerous.

There is a pretty big example where a member of a very popular band passed away and the family asked for the reason not to be disclosed. The director of his label casually let slip the cause of his death was suicide in an interview online. Fans were very, very troubled to find this out, and a lot of them said they wished they had never seen it. There's definitely a tendency to not disclose suicide but since no one else has mentioned it yet I think it's in part to prevent fans from doing the same (hide copycats being an illustrative example of this happening). It's a real danger in the best of situations, but the themes and image of visual kei attract self-harmers and people who aren't always in a great mental state on top of that.

@platy I thought I explicitly acknowledged this when I brought it up. Let me reiterate that I understand that, and that my point is not that you have to believe in all rumors or believe in no rumors. My point is if you're going to smugtweet about how correct and smart Dir en grey is to have ditched Kisaki you should at least demonstrate a semblance of awareness that the Dir house isn't exactly clean when it comes to allegations even if you don't weigh them the same. (This should probably extend to trying to hold up "vk celeb you like" as moral over "vk celeb you don't like that has been implicated" in general because you don't fucking know them or what they've done anyway.)

it's almost like there were 4 years of shows and a prior release that clearly set the tone of his solo performances under the "souen" title as being ballad covers with orchestral or piano arrangements 🗿 anyway as someone who was at the show in january the portion with the japanese instruments is sublime, glad to see it being preserved even though it seems he couldn't secure the licenses for all of the songs. ryuichi himself was in attendance for that forever & ever performance which is pretty wild

I don't think any of this has been written out anywhere before, but I'm not sure how much people actually care about the fan culture part of VK here, especially the Japanese fan culture, and especially the online Japanese fan culture. If I remember correctly most (if not all) VK music videos filmed in church-like locations are actually establishments that you can rent for activities like filming or hosting various types of events. Similar to that big "European" castle seen in some MALICE MIZER and Psycho le Cému vids, iirc.

Somehow Lynch. was able to keep my interest in those string of Albums that dropped back to back.  Once AVANTGARDE came about, it was VERY clear that they were running on fumes but were starting to break out their shell a bit.  BLOOD THIRSTY,  and SINNERS were more great steps in the right direction even with the absence of AK. 
 
That momentum went out the window when AK came back. XIII was a mess.  It was worse than that one album ppl always killed me for hating...what was it? OH "I BELIEVE IN MID." Easily one of the biggest let downs  of 2018.  
 
ULTIMA is what XIII should've been. This album is LYNCH showing in length that they're evolving while still staying true to their sound. This shit is a breath of fresh air, dawg. Maybe they realized how they let a nigga down, and they channeled that energy and really  crafted something amazing. The energy in this album feels like a huge fuck you to me and anyone else who doubted them. They had something to prove here. 
 
Like dawg, why do I wanna do dirty things to my woman...but dance at the same time while listening to EROS?
 
Why do I feel like the band sat through a couple of the GazettE's recording sessions and used that influence to create the BANGER that's MACHINE?
 
Who told them to make DEVIL better by making IDOL?  WHO?!!!
 
What the fuck is Reo and Yusuke smoking?  Did AK give them the same weed he got caught with? The fuck is up with the nasty riffage in these songs?
 
Why do wanna cry after listening to ZINNIA? 
 
I have so many questions after listening to this album. This shit SLAPS. What the hell man.
 
Even XERO, which i killed sounds good with the rest of the album.
 
Man 20/10. Fuck the proper rankings.  
 
Unless DECAYS or KEEL is coming back,  I aint tryna come back on here and talk about J-rock for the rest of 2020 with yall. This album sealed the deal.  Corona virus can take its time. The endless replays this masterpiece will get shall hold me over. Have y'all seen someone so happy with a release that they quit  a forum over it? No.  Congrats, I just did it. IN THIS ERA has been on repeat for a few hours, it's very melancholy but pleasant to me.
tbh one problem i have was that ALLERGIE completely mopped the floor with any other heavy songs on the album. like i'm sure MACHINE is very fun live, but when listening to this as an album experience, there's not really any coming back after ALLERGIE. also i understand the vibe they were trying to achieve with EUREKA but i feel like PHOENIX already did it better...

the album is good (better than XIII for me) but i think the comment about their diversity shining more in mid tempo and ballad songs remains true. ALLERGIE however is a p*ssy melter

Guys, there’s not much science as to why these bands are popular. They are fun and charismatic live and that is it. No one wants to see a boring, insipid artsi-kei band perform coughDimlimcough, but if you have a blast live who cares is they are “repetitive”. Yes, marketing can be a thing, but ultimately it’s the band that sells themselves live.
