1. Hi there... I think the japanese lineup at this festival in france is pretty nice... and the prices are also very reasonable for what you get (10€ for 4 j-bands)! so, here's a little overview; 01.06.2011: http://www.nuits-sonores.com/the-5678s.html Scène 2 @ Marché Gare 23h30 / 00h15 : The 5.6.7.8's 03.06.2011: http://www.nuits-sonores.com/carte-blanche-a-tokyo.html TOKYO AREA 1 @ Musée d’art contemporain 16h00 / 16h30 : DAITO MANABE 17h00 / 17h45 : DORAVIDEO 18h15 / 19h00 : MONO 19h30 / 20h30 : OOIOO 04.06.2011: TOKYO AREA 2 @ Musée d’art contemporain 16h00 / 16h45 : DADA KINGZ 17h15 / 18h00 : DE!NIAL 18h30 / 19h15 : NISENNENMONDAI 19h45 / 20h30 : TOKYO PANORAMA MAMBO BOYS Lineup and info for the "whole" festival; http://www.nuits-sonores.com/ http://www.nuits-sonores.com/toute-la-p ... ation.html I'll be there (flying in)

*push* I've added the europe-dates known so far =) Don't know if the the schedule is final, maybe there will be more stuff added - but the tour starts in a few days and I'm not involved so I can't tell, if something changes I'll push it again... greetings

hmm, even if the promoter did mess up I don't think it's very professional to blare it out like that on facebook... calling somebody who at least tried a "shit person" is not the very nice... ok, we don't know what happened... but even so... and he did it without further explanations. I'm curious what we will get... (ok, I'm a promoter myself [sort of] so I think I have a different view at the whole topic)

I'm going to the Vienna gig with one or two friends... did like their show a lot last time (at another venue), but their style can vary pretty much so I'm curious (in a good way)...
5. whitegrey

...pretty late to do so (the tour already started) but they finally released a small and simple video-message; sG5OhJz8PBk ...can't wait to see her in a few days
6. Hi there… Probably the best Garage-Trash-Rock’n’Roll-Band from Japan is on extensive tour again from may to june in US/CAN and in europe for july. Has not been mentioned here so I thought I should change that. I've only heard great things about the raw energy they're able to deliver live so I think tis is a must for fans of garage rock and loud, harsh rock in general… Official: http://www.guitarwolf.net/english/ MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/guitarwolfjet 5/9 - Birmingham, Workplay Theatre ($12/$12) 5/10 - Atlanta, Masquerade ($13/$15) 5/11 - Chapel Hill, Local 506 ($15) 5/13 - NYC, Knitting Factory ($15/$18) 5/14 - Milford, CT Daniel Street ($15) 5/15 - Boston, Church ($15) 5/16 - Montreal, Cabaret Mile End ($17.50/$20) 5/17 - Toronto, Lee's Palace ($18.50/20) 5/18 - Detroit, Magic Stick ($15) 5/19 - Chicago, Bottom Lounge ($15) 5/21 - Denver, Marquis ($15) 5/22 - Salt Lake City, Urban Lounge ($12) 5/24 - Seattle, El Corazon ($13.50/$15) 5/25 - Vancouver, Biltmore Cabaret ($15/$20) 5/26 - Portland, Dante's ($13.50/$15) 5/28 - San Francisco, Bottom of the Hill ($15) 5/29 - Los Angeles, Troubadour ($15) 5/31 - Las Vegas, Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip ($14/$18) 6/1 - Albuquerque, Launch Pad ($10/$12) 6/3 - Dallas, The Loft ($12/$15) 6/4 - Austin, Chaos in Tejas @ Red 7 ($10) 6/5 - Houston, Freepress Summer Fest ($30) 6/6 - New Orleans, Siberia ($13) 6/7 - Memphis, HiTone ($13) And here's an update with the europe-dates for july (don't know if it's the final schedule); 7/01 - ITALY, Firenze (Beat Festival) 7/02 - ITALY, Trento (Rafanas Festival) 7/03 - CROATIA, Zagreb (Mocvara) 7/05 - FRANCE, Montpellier (Holydays in the Sun Festival) 7/06 - SWITZERLAND, Biel (Drahtwerk) 7/07 - FRANCE, Paris (Maroquinerie) 7/08 - UK, London (Islington) 7/09 - UK, Brighton (Concorde 2) 7/10 - BELGIUM, Gierle (Sjock Festival) 7/11 - GERMANY, Hannover (Glocksee Café) 7/12 - GERMANY, Hamburg (Hafenklang) 7/14 - NORWAY, Tromso (Bukta Festival) 7/15 - NORWAY, Froya (Jorddunst Festival) 7/16 - NORWAY, Oslo (John Dee) 7/17 - SWEEDEN, Stockholm (Debaser) 7/19 - FINLAND, Helsinki (Bar Loose) 7/20 - FINLAND, Tampere (Klubi) 7/21 - FINLAND, Turku (Klubi)

I'll give it a little push since the tour is already starting today! Must have been a tough decision to do the tour with all the stuff happening in japan… If I got it right the benefit of her merch-purchases will be donated for earthquake/tsunami-relief. She wrote about the current situation on her website a few days ago; http://www.loveless73.com/diary/index.html Munich has been cancelled, the rest seems to be fine -> I'll update the first post… Please support her and spread the word! Thank you^^
8. Today It was the first time for me to see him live (Vienna)… I always knew that he is "good" (on guitar) and his new style should be interesting, I just never found the time or motivation to get into it - and I must admit I was pretty much blown away by his performance! It was amazing - did't think that I'll like it that much. Even the noisy electro-parts were nice and the tacks that sounded more like DJ/Techno-stuff… His style really seem to vary pretty fast. My conclusion for the concert; I liked it more than expected and can only recommend to attend that tour - I think it was worth the money... =)

I wonder why kana has not been mentioned here… Ok, I don't really listen to her stuff lately, and I don't dig her new stuff (way too much pop-influence). But her early stuff is really nice and unique. Once or twice a year I dig it up from my library and rally enjoy it - an yes, that's a moment I feel somehow guilty but pleased. I know her singing must sound horrible to people who don't know that stuff but I can't help - I like it (as sayed - once or twice a year)! Tracks like Chimame, Anzen Pin, hebi ichigo - the early stuff… JYCI9hjXhGc …also things like DODDODO… riBR_BCkgrw …and most definitley Kiiiiiii… these girls are just lovely^^ yPP8waT5ta8
10. Pretty crazy how many stuff is coming up in Europe the next few months… Haven't seen it mentioned here so just in case anyone missed it; NISENNENMONDAI also announced a few Euro-dates (hopefully more to come). 25 / 05 / 2011 @ Parc del Fòrum, Barcelona, Spain 26 / 05 / 2011 @ Bad Bonn, Düdingen, Swiss 29 / 05 / 2011 @ Festsaal Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany 30 / 05 / 2011 @ Hornstull Strand, Stockholm, Sweden 01 / 06 / 2011 @ Le Marché Gare, Lyon, France official: http://www.nisennenmondai.com MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/nisennenmondai YT-Sample: Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nisennenmondai These girls are awesome - please support them

hmm, that's pretty far away (didn't have in mind that Poland is such a big country)… stuff like that usually depends on the local promoter… if you can find out who's doing the gigs in poland you could contact them and ask them about the situation (won't change anything for this tour but maybe in future)… just to explain; the tour management and tour staff are from france. In other countries they depend on local promoters and can't choose venues directly for most part. And as the situation is different in every country they can't take care of everything themselves - that's totally up to the local promoter (at least the venues). If you want I can talk with the tour staff about the situation in Poland when they're here in Austria - won't change anything fort this tour but maybe I can explain the reasons in detail later on. And for the tour itself; as of now everything is confirmed and fine with the tour (means: the situation in japan shouldn't affect it)

Date added; 04/17/2011 DE Munich Muffathalle Maybe I can make it to the Hamburg date… Which means more than a 7 hours ride on the train *drop* But it wouldn't be the first time, and Hamburg is a wonderful town, so… Munich would only take me 3 hours but on that date Nana Kitade will already be in vienna and I probably have to take care of her… =)

the new TsuShiMaMiRe album "GIVING BLOOD" I just bought… pretty incredible stuff if you ask me!
15. whitegrey

hmm, no... maybe only if you try to watch it at the exact same moment - no matter what you're currently doing! I've got probably the biggest collection of japanese music in my country and don't even speak japanese... Am I weird?

...here's some more! =) Soutaisei Riron (Etsuko) miimi (Yuko Hanai) Charan-Po-Rantan (Momo) TAMURAPAN (Ayumi Tamura) It's really bad that she seems to go the route of a more mainstream sound lately. But her debut album is a record I really like - very interesting music style imo!

tbh I'm not into their solo stuff at all… but I really liked em' with (female) vocals! Path 2 with Sandra Nasic (from guano apes) is still pretty amazing in my opinion =) IClGbW4Nj2g

some of the really good stuff has been mentioned already (I'm totally with redrum and Nichika)… so - just a few additions from my side; Quinka, with a yawn (Michiko Aoki) noanowa (Yukko) AJICO (UA) I don't know if it counts because she's not "main" vocalist in that project and I must admit I never got into her solo stuff in detail (tough I remind it can be pretty good) but I think with AJICO there are moments where she really shines and fits just perfectly - I'd go as far as calling that project one of the finest lineups I know of (hey - even TOKIE was there!). Too bad it did not last longer. fra-foa (Mikami Chisako) One of my absolute favs - love her for the intensity and feelings she can put in her songs at some points (at lives even apathy). That of course doesn't always sound like, you know - "beautiful" - but it is part of her expression and makes it more authentic if you ask me. That was some of the stuff I really like… there's much more out there… I'll post it maybe later on...

Actually I've met Steve about a year ago at a concert in Tokyo (Shimokita, basement bar) - totally accidentally. He came up to me and we talked a few words (there are not too many foreigners at these concerts, so I was easy to spot apparently - mow mow lulu gyaban and others were playing that evening). It was nice - Steve is a great guy and a wonderful person, hope I'll meet him again at some point (…I still owe him a beer). And yeah - it's pretty incredible what he does. He talks to the bands himself (I don't even speak japanese), organizes everything, pays for everything… And most of the artists are indies, for that fact alone he has all my respect - because it is really difficult to promote something literally nobody knows about. You can't compare that to anything else I think - and it's a whole tour with different artists, different locations and so on. I go a different and much easier route - I only do single gigs with one artist at a time, and I'm not a tour manager and promoter in one person like he did it. I just get in contact with the original promoter and do the work on site (taking care of the hotel, backline, promotion, band…). Money-wise I also put in some money (about 2500-3000 Euro easily), but that was the total in 3 years (I did Trill-Dan, Doping Panda, Kokia) so I can live with it - and I think it was totally worth it. Next up for me will be Loveless (Nana Kitade) in two months and hopefully detroit7 in summer. Her name is Kana and she is the singer of an indie-band called "She"… I really really like her But I don't think anybody would know them - they are currently on hiatus and were only active from early 2009 to early 2010 in Tokyo. I was lucky enough to catch their last concert (they announced it there, so I really had luck!) - unfortunately they had no CD with them so I don't have any music to share (a 3-track demo does exist). I really hope they come back and release more stuff. You can watch 2 Live-Videos at their homepage (on Youtube even in HD); http://sheside.com/gallery.html hope you like it - but I'm pretty sure you will...

he there… I'm just a new user - new since I never been here or on the TW forums before. CAT5 told me about it on last.fm and since I'm a visitor of some blogs/sites of users that are registered here I thought it would be a good thing to join. And at first sight there seem to be lots of european members here which is good for me to promote some concerts in future maybe (more about that below)… Now for some info about me; I'm a guy, 26 years old, located in Austria / Europe… I work at a small film & video production company, doing pretty much everything from camera assistance to cutting, color grading, graphics, print… So - what about j-music? I listen to japanese music since 8 or 9 years now, and since a few years almost exclusively to japanese music. It began with major pop artists like Ayu and Utada back then but I soon moved on to more rock influenced artists like Aya, Youjeen, early OLIVIA and more. As you can see I really like female vocals - not exclusively but most of the time. Soon after that I started going to concerts - at a time when concerts of japanese artists were pretty rare over here. And that really helped to broaden my horizon for many genres - even for underground stuff like noise or avant-garde. Never stopped going to concerts after that and my taste shifted more and more towards Indies where I found much more versatility and depth compared to the majority of majors (of course not all). Visited Japan 2 times now - about 5 weeks in total, went to concerts there every single day (except arrival/departure days) which is absolutely no problem in Tokyo, also been to Rising Sun Rock Festival in 2008 which was a nice experience - but I must admit I like the livehouse-scene much more than big festivals, and even here the smaller venues and clubs (esp. Shimokita). In total I've seen about 200 different japanese bands/artists live (I don't count anymore). Since I think more people in my country should know about japanese artists I'm slowly starting to promote and organize concerts for myself here - only one or two a year since it is always a risk and expensive (done 3 concerts so far - more planned or upcoming). So far for the "little" history of mine… My favorite artists are; fra-foa, texas pandaa, redrum… ...and many many more - you can visit me at last.fm if you want to know it in detail; http://www.lastfm.de/user/whitegrey Just to make sure; I'm not a fan of VK -> but don't worry, I'm old enough to respect the taste of other people greetings from Austria! And feel free to ask any questions if you want...
