    Maybe someone can write a review why vkei was so bad this year. and writing why some CD's just didn't hit the favorite list.
    or something like that.

    its not that reviews need to be positive aways. (*_*;

    I could make a list but it would be something else than J-rock or VK for the most part. Well, maybe 40-50% J-rock and one VK album. It was pretty amazing year for non-rock Japanese music imo... But lists are fun to make so I'll probably do it sooner or later anyway.

    I thought 2017 was great for me in terms of vk. However it'd be great if there was a list for non vk recommendations for the year and I know some people would appreciate it too.

    I'm sorta working on a top10 list, don't know how much I'll put into it though, don't have the time currently to do a huge write up.

    on a different note, did people really think that 2017 was a bad year for Jmusic? I just can't seem to stop counting all the great quality albums....

    In regards to the "nobody seems to care about non staff reviews" comments, it's been my observation that members simply respond to whatever compels them to do so - and that's pretty arbitrary. It has nothing to do with it being staff or not. However, I will note that ORZ, as a group, usually makes it our goal to post content that we believe would be of interest to the community based off of literally years of experience/trial & error -  and even with a concerted effort like that, we're not always accurate. Also, threads having 0 responses can't always be interpreted as no one being interested - often times people might feel it sufficient to just like/react to a post instead of elaborating on their thoughts. And then some people simply like to read and move on. You also have to take thread views into account, as every topic on the first page of the regular review forum (except for 1) exceeds 100 views - and considering our active userbase, that's hardly trivial! Not to mention all of the guests and lurkers we have! So rest assured that there is interest, even if it's not always immediately visible!

    I won't be doing one for Japanese releases – I found there to be barely a handful of good releases out there. Focusing on international instead.

    Pretty slim pickings when it comes to VK this year for me, not super many notable non-vk releases out of Japan either.. quite a lot of good non-japanese stuff this year tho

    I think people just lack encouragement or are scared of sharing their thoughts. If some start doing it others will follow behind.  I personally enjoy reading everything people post in terms of interviews or recs, so if you have something in mind I recommend just putting it out there

    I was considering it, but I'm holding back for now,  as 1- people don't seem to have all that interest in reviews that are not from the ORZ, neither really want to interact in the review section, and 2- This was a remarkably weak year in jrock, VK specially. Half my faves of this year are best albums or smh like that, lol

    Interesting article, but it was probably worth mentioning both Nocturnal Bloodlust and Deviloof had incarnations of their bands in the metalcore scene -before- they made the switch to the visual kei circuit. I'm nitpicking, but it feels a little misleading to say they are VK who incorporate metalcore when they're kind of the other way around. Nonetheless, it's nice to see visual kei getting out in front of more people. Good job. ^^)b

    There are definitely other releases that I've enjoyed, but, to be perfectly honest, FABLED NUMBER's "ILLUMINATE" album is the only one that's really left a lasting impression so far this year.

    This is the truth! Life is good as a Mucc fan. Even as a major label band they still have a lot of visual concepts. lol I don't count those "new" members as a line up change...  it was just a contest to make fans feel special, right?
