Dillinger got a reaction from Deremie in Jupiter - Theory of Evolution (2018)
Best Jupiter release since "The History of Genesis". Definitely check it out if you are a fan of HIZAKI

When I listen to Jupiter, I compare it to HIZAKI's past works in HIZAKI Grace Project, Schwardix Marvally, and Versailles, so the bar is fairly high. Jupiter had some good bangers like 'ARCADIA' and.... yeah that's the only one that really sticks out in my mind.

They do have fun songs like "The Birth of Venus", "Tears of the Sun", "The spirit within me", but they all sound the same and blends into one another. Good, unique songs like "Red Carnation" and "Rhythmos" are far and few in between, and haven't been matched since their releases in 2015 and 2013 respectively.

ZIN's death voice is hilariously bad in comparison to other VK acts like NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST and DIMLIM, but he gets a pass on it because his clean vocals are solid, and its ok enough to have the songs pass as melodeath.

When it was announced that kuze, ex-Concerto Moon, was their new vocalist, I thought it was interesting because ZIN had this boyish aesthetic and voice, and kuze had this grittiness that gives his bands maturity.

    Theory of Evolution
Four words to describe this song: balls to the walls. Unrelenting speed and technique throughout the song.

Even though this song follows the typical HIZAKI formula for songs, kuze's unique voice brings enough novelty to the song to make it stand out from the rest of HIZAKI's discography. Fun listen to repeat in the future.

    Bring me out
I love me some bass wankery. This song is interesting to me because I feel like I'm listening to an ANTHEM song written by HIZAKI. kuze's vocals lend to that old school heavy metal feel and I love it. I wouldn't be giving this song many spins in the future because there isn't a catchy hook to it.

    Angel's wings
People talked about how Jupiter could drop their melodeath songs because kuze never growled before, but I think this song put that worry to rest. kuze's death voice is not bad. It doesn't have much range, but its passable.
While listening to this song, I heard "Fuck yourself" and I did a double take and thought it was just kuze's Engrish. I check the lyrics and yup there it is.

Spitting heat towards Concerto Moon? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Angel's wings is enough to show that kuze can growl, but the song is as forgettable as the rest of Jupiter's discog.

Theory of Evolution is an enjoyable A-side that will be getting many spins from me in the future. If ZIN sung these songs, I would be going to sleep. But kuze brings the band to a level where they can be compared to great power metal bands like Angra, Blind Guardian, Edguy, and Rhapsody of Fire... when Jupiter gets more time as a band to gel together. I will be eagerly waiting for Jupiter to record a full album with kuze.

This band wasn’t anything special before Issei left because they were more or less Periphery fronted by a Kyo stan. And Issei’s drum tone was garbage. Hiroshi sounds like he’s actually back there playing a real drum kit.

So after a few listens, this clearly isn’t some sort of VK savior, but it is a super solid album. For such a young band it’s a surprisingly good grasp on modern metal, which other veteran acts seem to struggle with.

I like the way it sounds. It’s polished, but there’s still just enough of a raw and organic grit left behind to not make it sound sterile. There are moments where they do that stop-start glitch thing that makes it sound like I’m listening to a corrupted file, but it isn’t overdone. Hiroshi’s drums sound really powerful, which fixes the major issue I had with Issei era Dimlim songs: his drums sounded fake as hell.

Sho is impressive, but seeing as how this is his first band I fear his voice isn’t trained enough to be so acrobatic. He could be the odd duck and is balancing technique and performance, I just hope he doesn’t shred his throat in a few short years.

The singles are the strongest tracks on here, but that doesn’t mean the others are weak (other than the lame SEs). Things get chaotic, but there’s more purpose behind it since the change in composers; things generally don’t feel all over the place. The aggressive parts can be a bit samey across multiple tracks – Mad (K) and the beginning of Shigarami for example – but so far it isn’t bothering me.

So, yeah. Solid album. I hyped myself up quite a bit over the last two months and that’s nobody’s fault but my own. Still, I’m happy with what I got.

I read an interview, it seems like Uruha mixed 3 songs on this album.

Probably another compilation/best of release, or like a 1 day revival. But, I honestly won't wince unless I hear about some sort of legit reformation. I try my best, but neither FED nor Breakn Holiday (?I think?) really do it for me, in comparison. If it's time to over-hype two ambiguous twitter posts, sign me the fuck up

Basiiiically, the key is leda and juri being in a band again. Would be a shame if 10 years passed and they still didn't realize how G they were together

I read some Japanese fan reports of their most recent live show.
Here is the info I could gather on new songs.

    - The 理由 remake has a shortened intro and a rougher guitar tone reminiscent of MoaB. There is some shouting at the end now.

    - One of the new songs that they just started playing has harsh vocals (they said デスボ in Japanese which means “death voice.” I don’t know if this is for all/most of the song or not as the description was unclear) and a blastbeat.

    - The song that was played on the Mode of DSS tour is most likely titled “Celebrate Empty Howls.”

Dillinger reacted to Ro plz in #113: NINTH by The GazettE
Ima just copy and paste from my twitter:

NINTH is the GazettE’s second best post DIM album. It sounds like a compilation of their best b-sides that didn’t make the cut for their precious string of albums. What’s even more awesome is that besides like one song, the album isn’t riddled with the usual cut and paste filler tracks. Even my least fav songs are worth listening to and flow pretty well with the other tracks. With that said, it sounds like either Ruki’s song writing improved and or he let the other members contribute more in the writing process. The songs sound more varied, even though they still have the GazettE sound to em.

DOGMA is still the GOAT post DIM album cuz of its cohesiveness and the dark/metalcore feel it has going for it but NINTH is cool cuz it has that balance of Light and dark tracks. This album is def getting endless replays. I’m so happy with how it turned out.

Hard to say if Kuze is an upgrade from Zin. I think overall its an improvement because it gives the songs a totally different vibe. From Japanese VK to European Power Metal. Being the Japanese Angra is not bad at all.

Kamijo's solo project is still way better than Jupiter.

It's very hard to tell what exactly is their style right now before the album comes out, because that's when they break out of the three minute single formula with the growly verses and poppy chorus melodies. There are hints, and I agree with Geist that some, even fairly major things have happened and Kyo's vocal performance is the biggest one. He has really let loose after Arche on Sukekiyo and on the Dir en grey singles, and I can't wait to see whether the compositions can hold their end on that front. I don't care about the "style" of music they play as long as they just manage to let go and experiment with the style and be spontaneous, different etc. Much like Sukekiyo did with their last album ( and that album still is so fucking good and it has held up 100% since it's release. There's just no way the well insulated room can ever live up to it  )

This is like on par with Avenged Sevenfold getting Dream Theater's drummer to do their 5th album. Kind of out of no where, but neat nonetheless. This guy's singing is probably what Hizaki was going for the entire time, but didn't want to / couldn't / was afraid to tap any non-vkei related talent for it.
