I splurge impulse bought this single on iTunes and am glad I did. This was a nice extensions I wish they had placed Goddess on Dogma because it would've been a great breather. More words probably later after some further rotations. Lol even though Ugly sounds like the Maximum the Hormone song "What's up people" in the intro. I'm glad they went somewhere more melodic with the song. It's a lot of high energy in this single, which is great.

I want to write something more eloquent, but all that I can muster is finally an actually good album since DIM. I about gave up hope of this band making something that sticks out and isn't just songs to fit an arbitrary album quota. At least now after a few listens in, I'm impressed that they did something was a step forward and not randomly smashy trendy stuff in because it's the new sound. In a way it's like the good aspects of their albums post-dim merge together with focus to it.

This sounds like Truth-era Sugizo and I'm ok with that. It's surprising to hear something bright and light from a DEG member in contrast to the dense and dim usual stuff. It's a nice start point and a refresher from the almost anti-commercial path DEG was on until recently.

So Decays is releasing a music video this month on the 23rd called Secret mode. I couldn't get the image to post, but it shows Die and Kobayashi with Mic stands, so we'll actually hear Die's voice. I'm kinda curious what it'll sound like or if he'll just be screaming

I thought this was indie crap for quite sometime, and then last year I checked out their mv for Meursault. Instantaneously I was intrigure and then Rhapsody in Beauty came out and I fell in love. If this band sung in English they would be Billboard toppers in the US because their songs are so cool. At least the last two albums have been. I was curious what older albums people enjoy?

A big thing I've gotten from this album is that it's conventional. As in, the guitars are easier to follow guitars things, the bass's role is on the rhythm side with a fill here or there, same as a the drums. And most overtly, the vocals aren't super extreme death chants to sudden whale song high which was the case on their last album. I'm not sure of a rating to give this as I just listened to it a couple times, but it feels pretty good. The fact that this band is going back in the box and finding nuances is the big selling point.

The band that I miss most that is inactive now is Unsraw. Their music was so striking to my ears, like it was definitely dark. However, they had a great blend of sounds. It wasn't just -core stuff probably due to vox.Yuuki's formal music training. I was so sad from their initial breakup that I couldn't listen to them for awhile. Now though that things with that resolved well, their music has been on a constant playlist for me. Wow that sounds ultra-melodramatic. In short, their music was some of the heaviest metal visual kei stuff I've ever heard, even now most bands don't have it.

A band that comes to mind that I respect for their musicality but can't enjoy fully is Versailles. I have heard 3songs from them that appeal to my sensibilities. I strenuously try to feel as other people do when they hear them, but it just comes out as Power Metal ramped up to 11 with Victorian imagery. For the songs, I do enjoy I do really enjoy though. Another band which kind of pains is post-DIM scene, Gazette. It's as though DIM was their magnum opus and everything after is them playing it safe, for sales. They have the musical chops, minus Ruki's nasal singing at parts. Yet, they sound neutered and trend following, like Metallica in the 90s and early 00s. On a non-VK note, Mastodon from Blood Mountain onward. They just seemed to fizzle out on Metal and are now an overly talented rock band.

I'm rather new to the jazz stuff, only getting into it last Fall. The group that I began with was Kagero, with the songs yellow and Gas. It was such an original sound for me. Anyway, a group I want to promote here is the Yellow Studs, the male vocals to the nice mesh of rock and jazz makes them really cool to me. As an aside, I was curious if the vk band Liplich would be considered jazzy with songs like this?:

I'm pretty sure the two bands I list are under the indies label. First is Jazz-punk group Kagero, not to be confused with the disbanded rock one: http://youtu.be/kgsy71TG3ZI Then there's another Jazz rock group called the Yellow Studs: I was curious if anyone has a good recommendation for more modern Japanese Jazz-rock music?

I'm just getting into this band. I really enjoyed the pv that was posted on youtube through the Starwave record label. I think they're pretty cool.

I love this list! I thought I was one of the few people to know about bands like Neurosis and Mono on this site. I know this is random, but since I saw a couple doom metal bands on your lists, have you heard the new High on Fire album??
  13. cidetodeath

This is quite selfish request, but I was curious if it were possible to have the lyrics to any and all of The STUDS songs translated? I absolutely love this band, but don't a lick of what Daisuke sung about. If there are already some translations I would love to read those too.
  14. cidetodeath

This album for me was better than their previous one. I really got into it and it had a set mood throughout and didn't feel like just a grab bag of songs. I'll give an analysis of each song later, but overall I'd recommend a once or twice listen to the entire thing and certain tracks as highlights.

Nega is freaking awesome. They have such a lusty dirty sound, like some sort of pervert who plays songs to you instead of groping you.
