I think Seremedy is far away from the fail we have witnessed here. They were alright. Compared to this.

I found another "Romantica" gem and it makes me wonder why the hell these people make music at all.

DISCLAIMER: This might result in a loss of either hearing, intelligence or good music taste. You have been warned. And don't take this lightly. You might have to puke later on. Also, I know this topic is pretty much a no-brainer, since most of this stuff follows the same agenda of being crap. But it's all fun and games until someone's ears start to bleed. Anyway, let's start.

I am still in awe about how some of these western "VK" bands are as bad as they are. I cannot get my mind off it.
Most western bands are being laughed upon for their chosen direction, but admittedly, there are decent ones.
But there's also a shitload of bad stuff coming from there. (Why, hello, japanese scene! Give us some Maria Cross! Only maybe not)

I'd like to start this thread with a hefty load of fail. And there you go, my dear masochists.
(there is more stuff there, if you prefer to listen to it at your own risk)

Sad thing is, the vocalist was in a pretty cool band as a bassist before. But wow, this really proves that you shouldn't just switch to something else on a whim unless you can somehow pull it off. It really sounds like they never rehearsed it.
Well, does it? The studio version isn't as bad, but it is still very painful. I don't want to describe what's going on there too much, as it might insult some disabled people.

The fact that people applaud and like them should be some kind of indicator that you can still sell shit at the value of gold. Ever had the urge to taste a sugar-coated piece of turd? Fear not, for this will be the first incentive for you to do so instead of listening to this. I'm not putting a finger on what's the better decision, though.

I should bet on it, if I were to create the worst song ever, I'd be all over the news. Unlike these guys. Because being purposely bad nets you enough attention and it actually requres some skill and intelligence, Apparently. But these guys aren't even good at being bad. It's pitiful.

Mind you, this isn't even close to most weaboo-kei bands. This is just amazingly crappy in several ways. Enjoy. And please don't file a lawsuit in case you do suffer some cerebral damage there. It could happen.

P.S.: if you happen to find something similarly awful, share it. Do it.

Sorry, it's Vimeo, because YT sucks balls with their copyright shit in Germany.
But I've fallen in love with Royal Blood. These guys are just a duo (from the UK) - Bass/Vocals and Drums - but fuck, they sound so fat. I'm totally addicted to them, especially because they are so raw (but not toooo brutal) and kind of have an old MUSE vibe going on. Shit's delicious, try it out if you like Britrock.

Can't wait to see these guys live someday!

This band is mind-blowing, especially live. And I have no fucking idea why barely anybody knows them! WTF. Seriously, if you like prog rock and don't give them a spin, you should feel BAD. And I mean it.

Suits and ties, almost every VK band has done this by now. If you were that upset about copying, just listen to Tokage. I mean, I like them, but seriously? After something as obvious as Tokage you put them into the copycat chair because they are wearing suits? In comparision, this is a very minor offense. Everybody's friend wears that sooner or later. You don't have to dig through VK to affirm this, it's everywhere, and shit happens. Their songs themselves are much more prone to that kind of criticism. Yet, still most people like them, because they bring a bit of the late 90's back, and that's okay. Now, really, wearing suits with ties should be a non-issue.

Even my Halloween "costume" (I'd rather just call it a bunch of makeup piled on my face) was a bit sub-par, sadly.
(I'm the one on the left, the one of the right is my best friend. Well, I did do his makeup at least)

But mostly the entitled white girls mincing around in horribly tacky lolita fashion thinking their shit don't stink because they listen to music made by a bunch of yellow perils in drag.

I didn't dislike Kamijo, but somehow I am glad he is gone. And yay for Masashi, he's a good bassist. But I really don't like the generic drum like in the sample. It's clear that these guys are opting for this tacky speed metal sound, but please, doing kick drum blast beats all way through? They will be cheesy enough, and I don't want a band like Rhapsody of Fire anymore, as they are cheesy enough.

Here's the good part: they re-imagine the songs, so there's a bit of a 'surprise' element that almost makes this mini bearable. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't, but at least they try. The best part of this mini is whenever the familiar melodies appear, because they were already great in the first place.

Here's the bad: I think it's safe to say that nowadays DIR EN GREY equates heaviness with downtuning everything to A and low growls. It isn't. And Kyo sounds flat most of the time.

Here's the ugly: Shinya sounds downright bad.

Overall it's a very weak and forgettable attempt to recreate that early magic. The new song is derivative anyway and it wasn't the main selling point of this CD, so who cares? 4/10.

Velovelo reacted to hyura in Non-Japanese Visual Bands
I often wish there was something like a visual band scene in my city. Not fantastic musicians who look like they stepped from magazines, but just generally some people who enjoy playing and attending that kind of live show. I'm pretty sure that once something like that exists the music will evolve by itself, become interesting and more than just a cheap weeaboo-copy of the original.
For almost any other genre things work like that naturally. When british punk became popular in the 70s suddenly fans all over the world formed bands who tried to be like the sex pistols or whoever and in the beginnig they were propably not as good. they played anyway because it was fun.
Just v-rock is different and somehow that is really sad. There are lots of international fans and many of them idolize some bandguy, many dress up 'visual' and actually look good, many even play an instrument... but only very, very few people go and form a band or at least support others who do so.
And that is because the fans themselves suddenly have unrealistic standards when it comes to judging bands from their own country.
Why shouldn't they sing in whatever language they want? Of course it's best if you actually understand what you're singing and in the end you won't get popular when your lyrics suck but... I've often heard people cover songs from another country and it sounded really good. or cute/funny when it wasn't so good.
    Same about the styling.
Non-japanese people can look just as cool in this type of make-up/costume if they find the right style and develop the skills. But most people (especially guys of course) need some time to learn these things. Especially when there is no established scene in their country and they just can't go and ask a friend, like japanese bandmen starting out propably can.
And about the nickname.. who cares, really.
Sorry for the rant but damn. Where is the love and peace in music when it comes to this fandom.
