I just uncovered a repressed memory from my high school days cruising the web, and remembered a gif of a lady dressed as a realistic spider doing... something... err, friendly to... somebody and I stupidly decided to watch the video that gif was from just now and... and... I need to lay down.

Ah man, I have really been neglecting Deshabillz. Anyone got any other good recommendations for mid 90's Kote Kei? It seems most of the 90's Vkei I listen to are either late 90's or early 90's lol

Kneuklid Romance [2] (haven't listened to their major era much, but their 2nd (?) vocalist material is some of my all-time vkei favorites)
L'yse:nore [2] (although I think they're also late-90s).
Canary [2] (they're basically Deshabillz with better vocals)
Ti+Dee
Penicillin (Penicillin Shock ~ Vibe albums should be what you're looking for)
Sleep My Dear
Blüe

tfw your angura folk band wasn't getting the audience you wanted so you have to hire a poledancer to come onstage with you

It's honestly annoying as hell how a ton of 90s/2000s vk has essentially all but vanished off the web after Megaupload and Rapidshare died

There's also a weird resurgence of fans that think downloading is morally objectionable and as such only like the 10 or so bands that got any sort of Western circulation, never diving any deeper than that.
I was under the impression this was just laziness / whiteknighting, but it could very well be there just aren't many resources for them to do so anymore. 12 years ago there TONS of blogs dedicated to sharing music for vkei and it was ofter regarded as "one of the easiest kinds of music to find" by people who didn't have the money to buy everything from iTunes. Now, it seems to be the opposite post direct download crack downs, although more groups are starting to embrace digital distribution.
I wonder how much losing lastfm played into this as well. There's next to no emphasis on trying out random small bands to appear worldly or because saw you someone else listening to it and liked their picture. It's just not cool anymore, I guess?
That's why I tend to upload random stuff I get from rarezcrates or stumble upon in my hard drive. No one asked, but more often than not it's just not online anymore since all of those upload blogs just reposted the same links rather than upping it themselves.

We deserve a Phantasmagoria revival, but with Shio from Hiskarea instead of Kisaki.
Of course that'll sadly never happen

*On the Ellen show*
"So, I heard you like X Japan."
"Yeah their older works are great!"
"And what would you say if you could meet your favourite member right now?!"
"Omg Ellen you didn't"
"Here he is!"

Does last.fm culture exist presently? Is there any social utility to getting on last.fm?

I love TK, but SHEESH!!! Dude was a J-indie legend and an absolute demon on the fret board...but I would have never imagined he'd be making hot-Jpop-garbage like this with a tall glass of dumpster juice.
TK know damn well he shouldn't be singing no generic ballad shit like this with a voice like his. The climax sounds like someone intentionally singing bad just to take the piss 🤣

B'z has uploaded all of their live DVDs to YouTube for free. if anyone feels like discovering some of their stuff, here's a good chance to do so:

Why on earth did the drummer or lunch just upload a video of him touching his dogs penis
-
Eldorado managed to knock off every chord progression you could associate with old school Vkei, and I'm loving it

Comments on 自我-ジガ-? I'm super in love for 白日.

Cursed idea: A Begin Japanology episode on 90's Cult Classic Vkei bands.
I love Begin Japanology, I love Kote Kei, but I imagine a Begin Japanology episode on Kote Kei would be cringey lmao

only if it features an essay by @cvltic on the Yuuga vs. RES drama from 2002

When the vocalist of one of JAPANS biggest ojisan ROCK BANDS said, that an interview is alright!
They were really popular end 80ties early 90ties. disbanded came back, went on break again and now they are back again.
Their last gigs were good visited, many people came to watch them, I believe the gigs were sold out or almost sold out.
I keep the name secret until I received the questions back, but hopefully we can look forward to it (^_^)v
Hopefully this interview will also help to interview more visual kei bands -
unpopular opinion: there has p much never been a single ''good'' vk interview. the amount of interviews i've read where the musicians actually had anything remotely insightful or interesting to say is legit close to zero.
