I just got called "babes" by a complete stranger who then tried to hug me. I think she was just taking the piss, but it was weird.

As the resident Gumin of MH (or at least one of them), I would just like to say on behalf of the entire DIAURA fandom that your new profile picture is gorgeous.

bless 🙏

Yesterday, I learnt that the word "pumpernickel" means "farting demon" in German. Didn't know there was a type of bread named after my grandad (who also happened to be German).

Do you ever just have really weird meals because you don't have enough in for what would be considered a "normal" meal? So, right now, I have garlic/herb chicken with vegetables and tagliatelle. I woulda had beans or sth, but I had some tagliatelle that I wanted to eat and no beans.

So I saw my aunt and our friend today, and the friend told me that her six(?)-year-old grandson came up with this little ditty:
Girls don't have willies,
Girls don't have balls,
Girls can't adjust where their wee falls.
Bear in mind, this kid is about six. I think that's actually pretty impressive for someone his age.

Just got back from the doctor. They made it sound a lot worse over the phone than it is in reality! I just have an overactive thyroid, so better than what I expected thyroid issues seem to run in the female side of my family.

So I had a blood test on Thursday and they said they'd call back in three or four days if anything abnormal arose. The receptionist called me back today saying they weren't happy with my blood and needed to see me ASAP, although she also said it's nothing they can't treat, so I guess that means I'm probably in the early stages of something serious? Guess I'll find out on Wednesday... wish me luck, guys. The receptionist did. 😕

Thanks, guys! That's really reassuring to hear from all of you, and I feel a lot more relaxed after reading this

Is it just me, or are there suddenly a lot more guests here than usual? D'you guys reckon it's because of the update?
-
maybe? a lot of these times the "guests" are bots that go a little too crazy scraping web forms and updating search engines. i think the "1497" number is a little exaggerated at the bottom. it's closer to 125. idk where the forum is getting 1497 from. from what i can tell most of the time these bots are harmless and at worst they make the forum a little sluggish. if you ever see it go above 2000+ let me know i might be able to do something about it.

Yesterday, I was out with my grandmother and my brother for lunch and a waiter asked the family behind us if any of them were vegetarians, so a little boy said "I'm a vegetarian. But I also eat meat. I'm both."

I wish my best friend would stop expecting me to listen to her problems all the time if she's not prepared to listen to what I have to say back. It really gets me down... it makes me feel like she doesn't trust me at all. She says it's because she doesn't want me to feel like I have to say something, but I always tell her I don't have anything to say and that I wish she'd stop telling me about all her hypochondriac issues that I can't do anything about (she's been doing this for years, and it gets old pretty quickly), but she does it anyways even though she knows it pisses me off and makes me feel helpless. It wouldn't be so bad, but she's not the first person who's expected me to just sit there and nod my head before. Don't they realise that making people feel like they can't do anything to help their friends makes them feel crappy, too? I get that it can feel good to get things off your chest (as I'm doing right now), but if it's over and over again and you're not going to listen to what the other person has to say, it's meaningless.

I feel like this type of ppl always has actual best friends they never bother with their shit and also friends of convenience that they dump the bullshit onto, and you should teach them boundaries/switch the subject once the whining comes up giving them an idea you aren't interested if the conversation about life issues isn't mutual.
my current go to line when i run into this behaviour is nodding a couple times and then outright telling them like 200 reasons I prefer candle meditation over talking to people who I know for a fact aren't interested in my personal problems.
-
Can totally relate. You could just outright say "if you're not gonna listen to what I have to say then we should just skip this conversation" or something. I've got to the point where I don't bother with niceties, some people will only get a reality check once you're blunt with them.
-
I always am blunt with her at this point, but she still doesn't listen. The weird thing is, I don't think she does it on purpose, but as I said, it's not the first time it's happened. I'm not a pushover because I've managed to end multiple friendships like this, but it still always happens to me and I don't know why... guess I'll just have to try being even more blunt. Thanks, you two.

When can I edit my rank? I'm already sick of being Kisaki's errand boy.

What are your plans for Valentine's day this year? I'm going to be making a tenancy awareness course appointment and playing an otome visual novel because I don't have a real date.
-
It's really good! The art and music are absolutely gorgeous, as per usual for Otomate (the company that made it). It's difficult in that it's just so hard to get the guy you want. There are twelve of them, and if you're not careful, you unfortunately won't end up with anyone at all, but even if that happens, it's worth it for the story. I won't spoil anything, but I will say that it's set in 1860s Japan and you learn a lot about that time period from it. You come for the bishounen and you stay for the history lesson, lol. Also, check out my cover photo. It's a screenshot from my favourite scene in Kyoto Winds. X)

Is it weird that if I look at a hot guy and notice he has a little mole somewhere on his face/body, I find it really cute?
-
Just made a kick-ass stir fry! Proud of myself in other news, I have to go to the doctor later today as I've been short of breath for the past month. Here's hoping it's nowt serious!

Nearly got mowed down by a Deliveroo guy on his bicycle today (he was coming out of a narrow alleyway, so neither of us could see the other coming) and I apologised for getting in his way, but he just said "fucking hell..." and went away. Like, dude, you nearly ran me the fuck over. If anything, you should be the one apologising to me

As if I needed any more reason to want to become a child therapist...

*LONG RANT*
So I was on the bus earlier and I was listening to a quiet song. I overheard someone near me shouting about how her daughter wasn't allowed to watch Power Rangers for some reason, so I took one earphone out and proceeded to eavesdrop. Then, a loud song that I really like came on, so I thought "nah, I'm not gonna listen to this with just one earphone", so I paused it, skipped back to the start, then kept the one earphone in and looked distant so it looked like I wasn't eavesdropping. Anyways, this is the exchange that I heard:
Woman (shouting at someone else): My daughter is not allowed to watch Power Rangers! If she sees Power Rangers on TV, she wants to be a Power Ranger! *turns to daughter to shout at her as well* What do you watch on TV?
Daughter: Power Rangers.
Woman (still bloody shouting as if the entire bus couldn't already hear her): No, you do not, you watch CBeebies! *turns back to other person* And that's all she watches. Either that, or horses, because she rides horses.
Oh. My. KAMI-SAMA.
This girl was, like, four or five years old and she's not even allowed to watch Power Rangers because her bitchy mother doesn't want her having an active imagination! I'm eighteen and I wouldn't mind being a fucking Power Ranger. Controlling parenting is my ultimate berserk button; I hope that little girl gives her mother hell when she grows up. I had to stop myself from getting involved. I think one of the only reasons I didn't was because I was nearly at my stop.
