  1. Out of curiosity what are some examples of vk bands in the past, that much like dimlim where it feels like 99% of the consensus (at least among the western online community) that they're solid. Feels like with other popular bands you still had a pretty present vocal audience saying they sucked ie mejibray, deathgaze, kizu etc (wont even bother mentioning obvious ones like diru and gazette)

      Karma’s Hat

I wouldn't count older bands for this one even if some of us were already around ( Kagerou and Deadman. Both the scene is different and we are older which changes things a lot ) nor bands that obviously started sucking hard later on and causing people to turn on them like Mucc and Girugamesh, but even to this day the few who stuck by D'espairsray even after their mortifyingly awful fourth album is beyond me ( and anyone who likes anything off of that album ought to stop listening to music altogether. ) However, I'd also say 9Goats Blackout was decently popular in the western fandom and the handful of people that didn't like them didn't bother reminding people about it all the time. I guess Moran as well and some Ains stuff, but I'd also say that apart from Grieva they didn't really arouse any feelings in the opposition and were therefore largely left alone to disband in their own time.

    3. Karma’s Hat

      Karma’s Hat

Other bands just don't get the rocket attached to them quite like say, Mejibray did and then the negative response is also quieter. For a band like that I'd go ahead and say that Kizu is doing a lot better for itself in the western fandom than a lot of the bands from the Royz era that felt like were going to go somewhere. I can't believe there was a time when even a band like Nega got a lot of people talking every time something was released, and almost like 50% of it must've been nega ( ha ) tive.

    4. ambivalentideal

      ambivalentideal

I think pretty much every band had/has SOMEONE who doesn't like them, even if they're not that vocal about it. But as for saying like the majority supported a certain band, I also disagree with that because I'm sure there's some corner on the internet where VK fans gather/used to gather where the consensus might be totally different. I mean I remember hearing that Latin American fans are obsessed with Versailles, like on another level. Also seconding @Disposable on the fact that "the scene is different and we are older" because I think that plays a lot into it. But all of you saying you dislike 9goats, pls turn in your VK card, I'll be collecting them at the window over here from 9 pm tonight

my quest continues to finding out what SIgnal members are up to nowadays, and Shinya the guitarist performs live shows with 矢島舞依, but this is a solo project so im not sure if Shinya helps out in the studio or if its just a touring thing

  3. What are some reasons why people dont dig rshitei. The most recent single felt kind of like whatever but their last full length felt hella solid and it seems like mamo has alot of versatility . Idk maybe my standards are just low but they feel like a band that mostly everyone and anyone could fuck with

@Himeaimichu Yikes, I'm not surprised lmao.

I wish i had some of the screenshots I saw floating around of his 755 posts. a lot of them were fat phobic/Homophobic + admitting to being a lolicon.

Wildshit man, I'm not sure I've heard anything about the members. but being acquainted with someone like Mamo theres got to be some similar characteristics otherwise why would you stick around someone that long. The scene doesn't pay that well.

    3. yomii

      yomii

i dont know anything abt mamo and tbh dont care too much, and i also don't remember what i thought of their earlier works, but i ended up having only one of their songs in my playlist (波瀾万丈、椿唄). i should try them out again later. speaking of their latest releases, both full length and erogro, although there were really good moments i always felt like it's not enough. as if they played safe not to sound too edgy or something. maybe it's for that versatility you're speaking about idk.

i don't like r-shitei because they sound like you gave generic a voice and a $15 walmart gift card

  4. maybe im just biased towards alot of recent bands or something and also just really hate others but it does seem like these last few years into current day weve had some of the most exciting vk bands come up and also some of the absolute most dogshit garbage ass earfuck abominations ever

Haha, five stars for your perfect description of the VK genre. There's great gems, and then there's questionable ones where you're wondering where the hell they even came from, lol.

Also like @Gesu said, I think it's nice to be able to express your opinions on MH and not get completely flamed or be treated like utter trash for it (Thinking of places like YouTube...)

    3. Gesu

      Gesu

@monkeybanana4 I'm getting Vietnam flashbacks to a YT comment war on MEJIBRAY's Eiki PV that started when someone said she hated VK because it's "gay and the bois look like gurls". When people told her she was being ridiculous, she said and I quote "What if I said that I HATE visual kei?" and I think she got disappointed when everyone said they wouldn't really give a shit. Ahh, memories.

  6. This might be a dumb question but when vk bands have those censor beeps in their songs is it just for show or is there actually an intended word or words there? And if it's the latter is there just certain words that they cant legally use or what's the deal

    1. Show previous comments  7 more
    2. peffy

      peffy

I dunno if it's a legal thing. Seemed more like a style choice to me. I remember seeing/hearing a few songs where a word was beeped in the audio and ALSO censored in the written lyrics. Usually seemed to be a specific person's name (i.e. *beep*-chan) or some lewd body part. Can't remember the exact songs, my memory is bad.

    3. nekkichi

      nekkichi

I was like 99 % sure they did it for sɔıʇǝɥʇsǝɐ until I've heard several lines in miyavi's coin locker baby (CD re-print after she went major) outright erased from the record and than I remembered japanese labels were paranoid about maintaining their image and basically signing to anything on/above starwave levels would result in The Beep.

    4. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Ozashiki Asobi to Iki na TABOO by Memento Mori has a censored word, but the lyrical context is about periods so I am pretty sure he was saying "vagina" or something like that lmao.

They also mosaic'ed Ai when he ate the paper scrolls during their last live lol

conditioners and hair masks will be of a great help〜 but dont use them on the roots - you want your hair to be moisturized but not greasy. also you dont want to brush your hair while it's still wet. blowdry with the grain(hope i used proper words for that, sorry if not). if you're going to use flat iron dont ever use it on wet hair too and it's better to use a spray.

    3. platy

      platy

Get your hair trimmed regularly. Every 3 months at least. Otherwise it'll get split ends and you'll have to chop up a longer portion of it than you'd want to

i'm not even diru fan (and im not saying chedoara is not great, it is) but like they made a lot of different stuff and they are not popular for no reason, and i doubt that a beginner band's tiny little album beats their whole huge discography. anyway i suggest to chill and enjoy the music, any band with heavy sound will be compared to diru just because.

  16. i kind of fell out of vk a good while ago and only came back in 2018, after attempting to catch up some bands i see alot of conflicted opinions around Sadie. im not all that familiar with their stuff but i did listen to the black diamonds and thought it was amazing, so does that mean id enjoy almost the rest of their stuff cause thats considered one of the bad albums everyone hates or is it one of their better albums

I second Zeus on Master of Romance.

Their compilation album "Undead 13+2" also has some of their biggest hits like Meisai and Silent Eve . "Gain" isn't half bad either and is different enough from their other stuff to stand on its own.

My personal favorites are their first single "Kokui no shita no...." because it has a bit of that early 2000's vkei sound, and also their mini-album "The Trend Killer", which is mostly included on that compilation album I mentioned, but has some exclusive tracks that I think are worth checking out.

Also, the song little prayer off their single "Crymore" is totally underrated.

I don't usually talk much about what I dislike anymore but I feel the same. I think it sounding more west style metal is why, like you said. That and major key or 'catchy chorus', I skip that in all songs unless it's very short. But I'm also someone who can almost only listen to minor key.

(Engrish I hate too if it's corny but I can tolerate it in certain circumstances.)

Royal Order (early VK metal phase)

Uso To Onna To (erotic jazz rock phase)

Camera Obscura (darker electronic alt rock phase)

Three albums that are pretty good in their own right. The band's change in style over the years divides most people who listen them and you'll probably understand why if you listen to all three but I'll vouch for each one having some good offerings!

usually the one with more tracks, or the one with more content in general. when i was younger i would choose the best cover most of the time, but i usually regretted that so i learned the hard and expensive way lol. if i really like something i will consider owning all versions down the road.
