I honestly think if Dir en Grey did finally decide to disband, I wouldn't be upset as long a Kyo remains with Sukekiyo. This past year I came to really love Kyo's voice and appreciate his talent as a versatile musician.

@seys You’re right, but that could be because they have a larger catalogue and are more prone to experiment with their sound. Recently I’ve enjoyed him in Sukekiyo more that’s all.

Nurié is by far the best new band we’ve seen this year. I wish them nothing but great things next year.

There's an j-indie "collator/playlist-maker" YT channel that's been around for a few years, and I've followed his main yearly playlists for two of them. Nurié (this latest MV) is the first vk band I've seen show up on that list, to my knowledge.
Really impressive stuff. I'll need to catch up w/ their other songs.

so it's a 12-stop tour early next year. shocked they're gonna be able to spend all this time touring together lmao at least japanese fans get to see them outside of their big stadium reunion concerts i guess

While I might not like the newer stuff from A9, I can’t deny that both Hiroto and Tora have become exceptional guitarists. They’re the main reason I still come back to listen to A9’s releases lol

While I love the new song compositions from A9's 15th Anniversary Best Albums, Shou's voice has just gotten jarring to listen to. It makes it really hard to me to listen to a majority of the songs lol

I've been listening to Sadie's song "Awaki Gunjou" on repeat for the past 2 days. I didn't know there was a 2009 version of the song, but I much prefer the original. The remake lost what made the original so good, IMO.

I’m finding myself really enjoying the GazettE’s DOGMA album this time around 😳 Maybe I should revisit some of their previous releases soon.

If you do, don't expect it to be like DOGMA. DOGMA is it's own unique thing in GazettE's history and I could only really see that after seeing what came before and what came after. It's a really good album, lower than my score would suggest, and it's one that grows on you over time. Glad to hear you are enjoying it! Did you like NINTH?

@Zeus Oh wow, well that’s a bit disappointing to hear haha. I gave NINTH a few listens when it first came out, but didn’t seem to like it. I couldn’t really tell one song from another since they all sounded the same to me.

You would think I would get used to Visual-Kei bands disbanding after 3-5 years of activity since it's so common, but it still hurts, especially when it's a band I really liked. FIXER, you will be missed. 😔

It’s so depressing to listen to Alice Nine’s album GEMINI, even ‘9’, and then compare it to whatever they are doing now. They were my favorite band for years and since their comeback they have been nothing but disappointing after Phoenix.

The amount of “wannabe Dir en Grey” comments I see in any video from a heavy VK band are so annoying. Of course at this point it should be obvious Diru inspired many of these new bands, but also almost none sound EXACTLY like Diru? Idk, I’m just tired of seeing these comments

My bad lol I'm not outrageously funny - Y'know, 2014-15 actually brought a lot of new activity that drew my back in when I was at my most disinterested! I'm Shit talking VK will always be fun but 2010-2013 was a draught indeed 😧 based on the timeframe there may in fact be a lot for you as well! Depending on what kind of bands you liked back then of course-!

@Elazmus It does seem bands that started around 2015 really brought in new energy to VK during a time it needed it most! And now those bands have become well-known as of now within the scene. Last year also seems like it was a pretty good year for debuts as well. All in all, I do think I'll still be able to find a few more that I enjoy. If you have any recommendations, don't hesitate to send them my way! I'm open to anything really.

Some sadly have come AND gone in that time
My BACTERIA HEAT IsLAND, Grieva, Kuroyuri to Kage, Balalaika, AvelCain, The Black Swan, MALISEND, Dead Children and MORRIGAN I think all started and died from then till now but are still loved on here! (some have members in other bands already)
DADAROMA, Chanty, KRAD, Gossip, dexcore, LACK-CO., DIMLIM, The GALLO, Develop One's Faculties, Pisarro are still-active ones! someone else will be able to fill in others that I neglect to mention!
