Pretsy got a reaction from emmny in Dir en grey
What happened to @Asakusaalso happened to me with older android speakers when they filtered out Die's harmonic flicka-flickas during certain Vulgar tracks, like Drain Away's bridge part. Die plays that guitar intro on THE IIID, which pretty much confirms my previous observations.
I guess mixers intentionally put Die below the mid-range frequencies while handling his guitar parts, since this does not happen to Toshiya's basslines which are audible in both cases.

Some days have passed by, and I still wonder why people jamming to new THE IIID pretend that the climax/bridge part in the middle is not awkward at all...
I am seconding the comment on taking a break from severely dense production: why there's no raw, live MTV Unplugged-like release from these guys?

If Oddisee is good for you, check out the rest of Mello Music Group's roster
Hip Hop is already a legit form of art, it is nonsense to think otherwise

Pretsy reacted to patientZERO in THE HIP HOP THREAD!
While I don't think that hip-hop and race will ever be completely separate, there are some artists who are using the genre to convey true emotions. Futurist recently released his latest album and I feel like he and Locksmith are doing great things for the genre without resorting to constant N-bombs and bragging about what they have.
Childish Gambino's recent music has not been to my liking, but Culdesac, EP, and Camp all have a great vibe with some "real" tracks on them that talk about some important issues, with a few bangers in there akin to more typical hip-hop.

Guess we may never find out whether the next album will remain as heavy or become heavier than ARCHE or not.
Utafumi might be as well an ARCHE leftover so we need another single ASAP.
Enough with these remakes.

Now we have reached the point where Kyopera is off-key EVEN IN THE STUDIO!
This is the musical definition of Kyo "Spank and Spank"-ing the monkey for sure. This is nothing more but an unnecessary wank.
Kaisan please.

Pretsy got a reaction from Furik in X JAPAN playing Coachella 2018
All it takes to make X "great" again is just to have Yoshiki SOMEHOW offending Coachella-frequenting journos with his (likely) bad takes.
That is, a take much worse than his overall career.

Pretsy got a reaction from deadman in Akinori returns to lynch.
Why are ppl so sour over someone committing a mistake that did no ACTUAL harm (physical or psychological) to people around them? This is not 12012's chokeslamming Wataru - and lest we forget that MH used to endorse him (!).
Puritans and J-rock fans altogether makes a very fascinating, albeit really conflicting combination.
For the record, there's still a huge number of acts you are stanning for that also practice this stuff, albeit less recklessly than Akinori did. They cherish their friendship and that is damn good. Says a lot about the band.

Pretsy got a reaction from Kousei in Remarkable J-rock Albums That Turned 10 This Year!!!
Not sure how "The Marrow of a Bone" can be a sore release compared to other 2007 releases when that album is basically
Other than that,
1) Tokyo Jihen - Variety
For the same reasons as stated by OP.
2) LTS - Inspiration is DEAD
For the same reasons...
3) L'Arc~en~Ciel - KISS
The best post-2000s album by them - consistent delivery, less fillers, and so on.
4) Coaltar of the Deepers - Yukari Telepath
"This is basically a Deftones album with stronger melody writing, lyrics, and variety of sound..."
5) Susumu Hirasawa - Paprika OST
Kaleidoscopic ear candy.
6) Cornelius - Sensuous
Not the first Cornelius album I would mention, but still an ear candy!
7) Midori - Second
"There are moments when the piano rams into hipswinging lockstep with the guitars as the vocals find the right balance of seduction and sneer and then you have to dance like an idiot while watering the lawn with your right shoulder to the place where sunset will be and a vague unease sitting light and sour on your nerves..."
8 ) Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I
Elegant electroclassical glitch record by the big man himself.
9) Melt-Banana - Bambi's Dilemma
Just another good ol' MB album with the same kind of personality as with Cell-Scape or Fetch
10) Boom Boom Satellites - Exposed
One of the most unique genre-hybrid albums

Pretsy got a reaction from platy in What can you cook/make?
TBQH the questionable frozen wasteland of a country where I live in at the moment considers any kind of cooking pastime for uni students to be an anomaly
But yes, pretty much me disliking the subculture of "ready-to-eat" after years of campus bandwagoning motivated me to spend more time on cooking something ~healthier~ even after hours of working or exam studying. Imagine yourself consuming "mudflaps" (Finns will get this) daily...so now you get my point before reading the rest of this
For instance, whenever I feel like spoiling myself after some specific days like e.g. finalized research at my work or finishing my exams at school, I just try my best in looking for decent priced shrimps, all the salady stuff and other decent-priced (read: not cheap unless you want to kill your innards with that processed ramen shite) ingredients to make some goreng with shrimp salad and occasionally throwing in some cheesy deep-fried broccoli to ensure I do not lose any bulk :V
Results: stable 187 lbs (was 160-164 lbs half a year ago), decent bulk, no excessive pains and feeling much better!
P.S. I am anything but rich - I had to make a lot of "sacrifices" to ensure that my budget remains stable for the sake of good eats and other useful stuff.

Pretsy got a reaction from LIDL in Dir en grey
Dir has no friends?
What about MERRY, THE NOVEMBERS, downy, Kannivalism, ex-Kagerou members, PIERROT, D'ERLANGER...?
I am pretty sure the time for that tribute comes one day. Maybe next year to commemorate their 20th major anniversary (1997 was their indies year) or maybe even later to commemorate their very first debut full-length. which most artists or their labels do for their tributes.
I would love to see D'ERLANGER making JESSICA great again, Pierrot having one of their GAUZE songs converted into their own kind of pastiche, THE NOVEMBERS doing Higeki or even Downy making a Radiohead-like rendition of some DSS song...
Possibilities are endless!

Pretsy got a reaction from Sparrow in Visual Kei Christmas Songs
Dude, you forgot the most unexpected VK christmas cover ever (and from your favorite band too):
(the first song)
The original
Also the song every Merry fan hates for some reason (yes, it's *A BIT* out of place on Under-world but it is cute nonetheless)

Pretsy got a reaction from jiji94 in dilfs of VK
BT's Hoshino might count as one if anything - I was going to put Laruku's Ken in his stead but then I realized that Ken looks more hyuk hyuk-ish compared to his days as a Blitz Kids' cosplayer back in '95-'96. Hoshino on the other hand became classier after being all coy with his fashion taste and stuff back in early 90s to mid 90s:
He aged rather quickly but at the same time, he became even classier and less "d'awww""-ish which adds more to his mature charm. I know that folks are all about Atsushi but I just happen to appreciate something more than just Japanese Snapes, yikes.
But yeah, a real damn shame that this concept of "maturity" in VK goes down to men in their 40s being all fancy-shmancy with their andrometro looks that make them look more languished if anything. Buff, bulk, maybe beards but otherwise actually manrii looks should be in now, seriously.

Pretsy got a reaction from Laurence02 in Interesting chord progressions in VK music
As with my earlier outputs, I thought it would be neat to discuss about "interesting" chord progressions in our beloved, visual scene as well! What kind of intriguing progressions (from your POV) you guys have stumbled onto while going through your VK repertoire? As long as you are able to explain your choices, it's all OK...not that this thread would gain enough exposure, lol (I am not gonna hop into another round of "what is VK music" debate and just pinpoint that even in 00s and earlier 10s it was easy to acknowledge imho what's "so VK" and what's "not so VK" in the auditory context.)
Prime example or where to start:
"Royal road" progression (IV△7→V7→IIIm7→VIm)
VK example of this: as far as I have noticed, Gazette's "Sumire" is pretty much about that kind of progression too, no?
