Himeaimichu got a reaction from emmny in Lo-Fi in VK, love it or hate it?
It depends on the circumstances. Some lo-fi recordings hold up because the guitars still have mids, the bass still has low end, etc. Basically, it has what I call the "minimal EQ required" to sound good to the ear. Songs like "Machibouke no Kouen De" by The GazettE, or pretty much anything from Vice Risk.
Others hold up because the low fidelity works with the aesthetic. For example, DEViL KiTTY's "Hello Katty" is probably meant to sound like a bad MP3 download. Or how Guruguru Eigakan songs are based on Japanese popular music from the 1900's to 1945, so some of the older songs kinda have the lo-fi feel of older music.
However, some low-fidelity recordings do not hold up. A good example is, weirdly, of Devil Kitty again. After Sasaki switched to guitar and Shita joined on bass, Yuuga had the wonderful idea of scooping all the mids and low end from the guitars, making it sound like it has a phaser effect, but "stuck" somehow. This is seriously ear grating and a serious step down from "Ese Ikare Rockstar", which imo had really great production, not just by DK standards but also by early 2000's vkei standards.

Basically, I would say there are different tiers of Lo-Fi. You got S-tier, which sounds good to the ear, fits with the aesthetic, and holds up.
And then you have F-tier which is the worst of the worst, garbage, would make Black Metal jealous lo-fi. Most Vkei falls somewhere in between

Same samples were used on that too.

    It's Roland's R-5 or R-8, I suppose.

Btw, the preview sounds nice, I liked it. But I would make the drums less loud in the mix.

Amano Tonbimaru rises out of his grave, making this a true horror story, but does not decide to continue Guruguru Eigakan.... or do music at all...

Kiryu goes major, but abandons Vkei, abandons Metal, and is cursed to an existence as a normal band playing slightly-hard pop rock with rapid Japanese instruments à la Wagakki Band.

Etcetera revives.... and makes more releases...

Yayoi forms a new label, gets some bands signed to it. One of them is a newbie band that's gonna get really popular. The other is rejects from Ma'die Kusse/Mareydi Creia/Parasite Lucia. Yuuga forms a new band titled "Kar Maria" and says it's not the same as the old Kar'mariA. Deadly Sanctuary revives! but changes their name to "deadl" because "Deadly" wasn't short enough. The final are some no name bands that won't get nearly as popular as the Yuuga band and the Newbie band that gets the most funds. The whole thing flops in a dumpster fire, Yayoi runs, rinse, and repeat.

    Yukika's entire singing career.

The GazettE start smoking meth, drinking bud light, eating Chick Fil'a to be the most non-Japanese Vkei band in Japan.

Miyavi x KRS-One collab to try to appeal to the Hip Hop crowd. Miyabi fanbase has no idea who tf KRS One is and think he's a new rapper. Mumble Rap fans whose first rapper was Drake will believe he's a pioneer in a new type of rap where they clearly speak their words.

I guess I kinda count? I mostly dabble in mixes of different kinds of paganism, but mostly focus on Taoism and Hinduism, so I guess you could say I'm the Southeast Asian equivalent of a Witch lol.

I quite liked the album, but I agree, the production was not the best. I think the fault mostly lies in the guitar tone. There are no mids, which means there isn't a lot of note-definition.
However, I loved the traditional Japanese elements, and the old school influence. Definitely a breath of fresh air composition-wise.

Himeaimichu got a reaction from Hoyahe in Which visual kei trope would you ban?
I would ban the trope of completely toning down your sound and visuals once you go major. Like... you actually got money now, why not go all out with the visuals and the music? Why the hell do you just start wearing less makeup and host-boy hair and playing generic pop rock the second you make more than 10 dollars?
So many great bands have been lost to this trope

I heard from a reliable source that Kagerou fans beat up Otogi from Awoi 'cause he ripped off one of their songs. How do you get beaten up up five feet tall gya is beyond me but I guess that happened.

Wait, the GazettE were Diru roadies? Because I remember the formation story mostly being Ruki, Uruha and Reita playing around with different musicians, most notably vocalists Tetora (who'd join Kamikaze Boyz) and Saki (who'd form Cuartet) until Ruki decided he wanted to do vocals instead of drums and so they left Saki and Kanna and joined with Aoi and Yune from Artia. Plus, I remember their early history being much more associated with Yayoi from La'Miss Fairy than anything to do with Diru. Could you perhaps elaborate more?

Plus, even if it were true, why the hell would Diru fans insult The GazettE for being former Diru roadies? Last time I checked, there wasn't any Diru and Sel'm fanwar.

If anything, it should be La'Miss Fairy fans reminding Gazetto fans that without Yayoi, the GazettE would be nothing, but La'Miss Fairy is, well, disbanded lmao

This must be the most outlandish and fantastic fan theory I ever heard. Like aimi said according to every interview they've ever put out that I've read they pretty much were dudes in the local scene jumping from band to band and eventually the present formation sans Kai formed out of the corpses of these local bands. They were never affiliated with each other in any way since they were on totally different labels and based in a different city. All the bands that have deg associations are from the Dynamite Tommy family like Merry and Rentrer En Soi. If I'm not mistaken some Gazette members like Kai and Ruki had day jobs before making it big too, so any roadie story is just unlikely when deg was consistently touring the country from the moment of their inception and gazette dudes had barely had their first bands by the year 2000. I think the rivalry is the invention of western fans because in Japan they have nothing to do with each other
