There are the theories they never really left Ains, but both sides are quite valid. But I have noticed though that they didn't very often preformed with Grieva, GossiP or Diaura. They always preformed with bands like Sibilebashir. I don't know why they haven't preformed with Dezert yet. I mean, it's obvious both bands are still close. Also, Mei and Chiaki together on stage would be amazing. Though, Dezert seems to have been going less visual recently, a lot of the members wearing less makeup (Except for Chiaki though xD. Chiaki always will stand out xD)

I miss Memento Mori too, but I love Kuroyuri just as equally. I think they progressed more as a band since Memento Mori, including more Mucc influence. Plus, Kuroyuri still keeps the Eroguro imagery that Memento Mori sometimes showed. In fact, they took it quite further. Their compositions though did get a bit more simple after Koyomi left, but they really seemed to have redeemed themselves with the Toshabutsu single. It was amazing compared to Zouki No Nozoki Ana, which was good, but could be better. I hope they release a full album this year. Not a mini album, not an EP, but a full album. I have Kuroyuri cravings that need to be satisfied! xD I think it would be cool if Kuroyuri did go back to the traditional aesthetics for one single. Perhaps they could use a concept similar to Inugami Circus Dan. Either way, I'd like to see them experiment with different concepts and such, since a lot of the bands close to them experiment with different concepts at times, and it would provide some interesting content.

I found another old pic of Mei during "Arutema". I wonder what kind of band Arutema was like. It seems different from both Memento Mori and Kuroyuri. In fact, Yukiline was more similar to early Memento Mori (Like, during 2010-2011). I'm guessing Arutema may have sounded something like early Memento Mori, but less traditional Japanese influence. Maybe someone out there has a recording of an Arutema performance xD
  7. When is Kuroyuri To Kage going to upload that live video to Youtube like Mei said? Was there ever a said date?

  8. I'm still thoroughly confused by the whole Kiyoharu and Kuroyume mess. Like, how did Kiyoharu own the rights to Kuroyume in the first place? Doesn't Avex take tight control of their bands?

Then again, Kuroyume got away with anti-pop songs, so maybe Kiyohar was able to negotiate things where he'd own the rights to Kuroyume when they signed to Avex?

    1. Elazmus

      Elazmus

Yeah it's all down to contract, Kuroyume as an act had been popular for almost a decade at the point of signing with AVEX. The label also took over all of his solo stuff and SADS work too, so to them Kiyoharu is what you call a "life-r" (someone who remains with the company even when doing different acts and projects) He's someone respected enough on the scene and in the business that it's not unwise to leave him with creative control and save a fortune on his contract by not insisting on buying his name(s) (something that he could just refuse and look for a less tight-fisted company.

      this is a guess

Idk shit about the music industry, everything I know about contracting and promotional rights is from profashional rassling.

  9. So Kyo was once featured in a Vasalla Song:

I remember Sin was in Syndrome too, wasn't he? I know Ruiza was.

Hopefully the vocalist is still into music and doesn't mind coming back for one more collab. And I think Kyo secretly wants to go back to doing 90's style Vkei, since a lot of Sukekiyo's stuff has that 90's Vkei gothic rock influence. Also, there are some pics of modern Kyo wearing 90's makeup, and he still looks good in it. In fact, I can sort of feel as if he likes wearing it still

    2. For my dears

      For my dears

Yeah I think only Kisaki wasn't in D haha
Hmm their singer Hideki re-recorded some songs on their 2010 ep Rise of Insanity, did you check it that out? I think he still sings okay. ^^ Wow I never thought Kyo would go back to vk looks. I remember when his pics were of he shirtless with sunglasses and without any makeup lol When i saw that I thought dir en grey started to hate vk and would never go back to their roots

    3. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

I'll have to check out that EP~

Also, I think the only reason why Dir En Grey said they weren't Vkei was because they were trying to expand onto an American audience, which expects masculinity and Brootality. I think that's why Kyo formed Sukekiyo, so he can live out the old days. I mean, his first idol was Kiyoharu from Kuroyume, which we all know Kuroyume for their mix of Alt. Metal, Thrash Metal and Gothic Rock.

I think Dir En Grey's transition into Nu Metal in the 2000's though was natural, since Nu Metal is a derivative of Alternative Metal. Hence why it still felt natural. The Deathcore stuff... felt unnatural. And the fact it's progressive means that it's kind of a dead end, because now people expect brootality and shredding.

I wonder what would happen if Kisaki stayed in Diru. Would they be as big as they are today? Would they still be Vkei? What would they sound like?

I guess that's why I loved Phantasmagoria. They were like the prog version of a Kote-Kei band xD. I notice a lot of former 90's Vkei musicians tend to kind of keep the old elements in their new bands, like Kon did for Cell. Even though Cell was Metalcore, it still felt 90's-ish

  10. Can someone explain the huge mess that Kiyoharu got into last year that ended up in the Japanese government selling the rights to Kuroyume?

There is barely any news on it that I can find

I saw that, but I'm seeing so much discussion of stuff I can't find anything else on.

  11. Himeaimichu

Wait, they went on another Hiatus? I know they came back in 2010 after their first hiatus. Did they go on another one after 2014?
  12. Himeaimichu

My favourite ones are their more metal ones from their earliest releases. Songs like Shinai Naru Deathmask, Rakushi Unmei, Juujika Tono Tawamure, and Autism. I haven't checked into much of their newer stuff, but I do love "I hate your popstar life" (Ironic, since they're signed to Avex xD). Their more Gothic Rock pieces are awesome too~ Does anyone know if Kuroyume still preforms the really old songs?
  13. Himeaimichu

http://jigsaw.syncl.jp/ xD The old website for Jigsaw (Memento Mori as a session band) is still up. From what I can tell, Memento Mori's use of traditional imagery was probably Koyomi and Mei's idea at first, since Yukiline used similar imagery, and Mei has always had an interest in that. I wonder if Koyomi, Mei and Chiaki still speak with eachother. Memento Mori and DEZERT were quite divergent, but they began to converge with Kuroyuri To Kage. Not just in concept, but in sound. I think it's definitely possible that Mei and Chiaki bounce ideas off eachother and are good friends.
  14. Himeaimichu

Part of me is suspecting Koyoni (ex Kuroyuri To Kage) would be involved, since it has been a year since he left them. But nah. He couldn't be involved. It's not likely
  15. Himeaimichu

http://id55.fm-p.jp/249/yukiline4/ And here I found the official website of Koyomi's old band (which also had Chiaki). Turns out, they were called Yukiline, not Yukilein xD
  16. Himeaimichu

Ok, I finally found a pic of Kuro and K's old band, "Ice Cream" That's all I'm gonna search for for now. If anyone wants to continue the search, that'd be lovely xD
  17. Himeaimichu

Here's the only full pic of Arutema I could find IDK if K is wearing a mask or not, and IDK which is Ya or Koyomi.
  18. Himeaimichu

I found this old picture of Mei in his old band with Koyomi and K before Memento Mori. Even before Jigsaw infact. For some reason, their other Guitarist isn't Kuro, but is someone who was in a band called "Verth" and is named either "Ya", "Nari", or "Mata". Also, their drummer is some guy named Hide. The band was called "Arutema" (アルテマ) If anyone is interested in reading further, here's the website it's from http://blog.livedoor.jp/soundproduction/archives/51002459.html
  19. Himeaimichu

Speaking of Koyomi, I found something interesting recently. Turns out, the vocalist of Dezert (Chiaki) used to play in the same band with Koyomi. They both were in Yukilein. Also, their support guitarist was also the guitarist for Mei's old band, Rose Valley. The ex guitarist of Rose Valley is now in Smile Berry. I always wondered why Kuroyuri and Dezert seemed to have the same influences, and turns out, it's because the members know eachother. I wonder what Koyomi's personal music influences are though. His twitter is gone, so I can't see who he followed. I know that they all obviously listened to a lot of Nu Metal. Kuro and K both like Limp Bizkit (I hope they only like them for the guitars, since Fred Durst is a horrible rapper xD. I know a lot of people though who listen to Limp Bizkit for the guitars though. And I can see that since they have a pretty creative guitarist). Also, Kuro is a fan of Kuroyume. Also, K posted on instagram that he listened to 50 cent xD (It's no surprise he listens to rap, tbh. He looks like the kind of person who would). Mei also personally listens to Caligari and Korn. (I'm basing most of this on what they follow on Twitter and Instagram) And of course they all follow Dir En Grey on twitter. Back when Kuroyuri was Memento Mori, they also got to play with Inugami Circus Dan once (Below is a picture of Mei with Kyouko.) and it's obvious the members love EroguroKei. I mean, Kuro and Koyomi's riffing has a LOT of Mucc influence, and commonly reference the art of Suehiro Maruo. I also noticed some Ningen Isu influence, but it's very slight and is mostly in their stuff as Memento Mori, which had quite a bit of doom metal influence at times (Especially Joroya). Also, a lot of Kuroyuri's songs definitely have a Korn influence and even Funk in general. So maybe sometimes the Kuroyuri boys are jamming out to James Brown and George Clinton Pariliament Funkadelic xD. Ok, I'm kidding there but I do think that maybe they do listen to a little bit of real funk. Does anyone remember who Koyomi followed on Twitter? Is there a way to see a deleted twitter account? xD. Or do any of you know any other influences on Kuroyuri To Kage? I like delving into a band's influence so I can deconstruct their music and look at it in a different light.
  20. So I found out something interesting. Kuroyuri to Kage and Dezert are connected. I'm serious. So Mei used to sing for this band called Rose Valley. Rose Valley''s guitarist used to play support for Yukilein, which is both Koyomi's and Chiaki's old band. I know that Kuro and K used to play for a band called Ice Cream. Anyone got any info on them?

I got some more info on the older bands of the members of Kuroyuri if you're interested in that. I have pictures and info posted on the official Kuroyuri thread.

I'll search more later and post any updates~

@SadMoomin I found Yukilein's official website! Turns out, they're actually called Yukiline xD.

Also, apparently, they had a discography?

The discography page doesn't seem to have anything on it. I guess they planned to make releases, but never did

If only I could speak Japanese, then I'd call the number and say "SHINJI! GET IN THE GIANT ROBOT NOW!" (I've been watching way too many abridged anime xD) What if someone treated it like one of those sex hotlines? xD. I am DARING anyone who speaks Japanese to prank call the number. Honestly, they're asking for a prank call xD
  22. Himeaimichu

I'm tempted to call that number, and if answered, will act like I'm ordering a Pizza xD. Be like "I want a large pepperoni pizza with a topping of Karma" Let's just all prank call the number and see the response xD
  23. Himeaimichu

They look quite interesting. Hopefully they'll be really good. That calligraphy though xD. I mean, I've done calligraphy with markers before, but they live in Japan. You'd think they'd have access to something other than a sharpie xD
  24. Otsuka Headlock by DEZERT is so catchy. I gets me in weird mood where I want to both headbang, and dance.

Dancing to Metal should be a legitimate thing. If Hardcore Punk has hardcore dancing, who says I can groove out to something metal? xD

Well, we already kind of have that thing in Vkei, if you count the small dances Kyo from Dir En Grey used to do for the song Myaku, or Karma from AvelCain does to Gesshoku

    1. Elazmus

      Elazmus

it's one of my favorites of theirs!!

    2. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Same! It's also one of the first songs that got me into them like 2 days ago xD

  25. There are Vkei bands named D, S, and M. Now all we need is one named B and we'd have a fetish on our hands
