  1. Well I made a new twitter, and deleted my old one.

      Nice! Gave you a follow~

  2. Someone needs to deepfake the faces of the members of GossiP onto this (At least Saku's face on Yukika) and put in the 100x better GossiP cover of this song

  3. So that's why his bands are a mess. They're for fun. Can't be too mad at him for that lol
  4. In メルヘン遊園地 (MARCHEN Yuuenchi) by Missalina Rei, Arisu is basically is just straight up traditional Japanese vocal techniques in the chorus. Of course, wouldn't be the first time a Vkei vocalist has done some form of Traditional Japanese vocals.

  5. Youtube videos be titled "Best handpicked selection of traditional Chinese music!" and it's all Derek and Brandon Fietcher and any other new age producer who thinks they're spiritual by interpolating the "Oriental Riff"

  6. So I'm guessing late 90s vkei bands got their love for spoken lyrics from Deshabillz? Or did Deshabillz get it from somewhere else?

Well, since we were talking about post-punk influences… I am certain G-Schmitt had a huge influence on this trope, as they had a few songs with spoken parts. Here is one song, that always reminds me heavily of the dark 90s VK bands:

The intro of this Gilles de Rais song is also very Deshabillz-esque (and features Lucifer from Gille's Love)

So I'd say it's been around quite some time, just like counting on German (earliest use by Zi:Kill afaik).

Recently I've been digging acts from the 80s, and discovered a track by Dead End (I guess it's from their 2nd or 3rd album) where Morrie does a speaking part. I think that's the oldest song where I found this trope.

I found the song. It's from their 1986's album "Dead line":

  7. Ah man, I have really been neglecting Deshabillz. Anyone got any other good recommendations for mid 90's Kote Kei?  It seems most of the 90's Vkei I listen to are either late 90's or early 90's lol

I've listened to them a few times and I really need to try them out more!

Some Suggestions (though some of them may also be from early 90s): DIE-QUÄR, Media-Youth, D≒SIRE, Silver~Rose, L'yse:nore, Canary, Speed-ID, Rapture, FANATIC◇CRISIS, Maschera, Kneuklid Romance, Romance for~

Pretty sure there's plenty others, the early to mid 90s were the best time for VK, lots of great bands as the scene exploded and reached its peak.

      Peace Heavy mk II

Kneuklid Romance [2] (haven't listened to their major era much, but their 2nd (?) vocalist material is some of my all-time vkei favorites)

      L'yse:nore [2] (although I think they're also late-90s).

Canary [2] (they're basically Deshabillz with better vocals)

      Ti+Dee

Penicillin (Penicillin Shock ~ Vibe albums should be what you're looking for)

      Sleep My Dear

      Blüe

Just when I thought the fucker fucked off.
  9. We deserve a Phantasmagoria revival, but with Shio from Hiskarea instead of Kisaki.

Of course that'll sadly never happen

I don't think Riku or Jun really like K*$aki at the moment, so that's seemingly possible. They'd probably use Gotcharocka's bassist tho, instead of some random who hasn't been in a band for nearly 20 years.

  10. Tbh, for me, Kimi Wa Surudoku was a disappointment. You have so much potential, being it's the vocalists from Delta Ark and Gill'e Cadith, and yet it sounds like neither and in the decade and more they've existed, they've put out so little and now Karuna is retired.

That isn't to say I didn't enjoy some of their stuff. I did enjoy their work, although it is a bit poppy for my taste to listen to on the daily, and I do like that one song they released as Kegare. But man it could've been so much better.

  11. Every day I think about the fact that I experienced myspace at its height and used it regularly... when I was 7 to 10. That really tells you how "well" I was parented lol

  12. Does anyone have cats that have weird music preferences? My bebby Faerie loves it when I play Javanese Gamelan music

    (obligatory picture of the baby)

Btw, this is the kind of music that always makes her light up lol

We joke that she's secretly a Javanese Cat in a Domestic Shorthair body lol

      Total Saikou

IDK if this counts but my cat stops sleeping and gets up to leave whenever I sing along to Diru or X Japan (she really hates my attempts at their ballads lol)

  13. I'm thinking of scanning my Cuartet pics in better quality, and re-ripping my Gill'e Cadith CD so the files aren't so fucking HUGE

  14. Himeaimichu

I love how they are still playing GossiP songs. GossiP never died, it just faked its death and changed its alias
  15. Himeaimichu

They left because they couldn't deal with all the cease-and-desist orders
  16. That was my only complaint, the riffs could've been better. Ai's bands have never been the best in the riff department and to me, it's always the songs as a whole that shine, but yeah, you're right. The riffs aren't as good as they were in KtK
  17. I got GTA Vice City recently and I've been putting Japanese music into the game that fits with the atmosphere (mostly late 80's, early 90's Vkei), but I was wanting to ask, does anyone know any good 80's Japanese Hip Hop that would fit? Specifically the Afrika Bambaataa electro type stuff. Was that even a thing in Japan at the time?

    1. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Oh and it doesn't actually have to be made in the 80's (I mean, I put Luna Sea and Kuroyume in my playlist) they just gotta have that sound if you know what I mean

  18. Rito writes all the riffs while Ai comes up with the basic ideas and the lyrics. Lanju and Hotaru also have input, but it's mainly Ai and Rito from what I've been told Also, if I'm correct, in "Yogoreta Buta", Ai says the lyrics "Otose Otose Otose", which is a nice throwback to Zakuro no Uta by Memento Mori
  19. Who knew that Gulu Gulu would provide us what some of us wish DEZERT would provide to us? Holy fuck the new mini is awesome. It's not Kuroyuri, it's not Memento Mori, it's its own thing, but in a good way. Hearing Ai's voice again just makes me feel so happy. If my highschool days were filled with me jamming Kuroyuri and DEZERT, my young adult days will be spent jamming to Gulu Gulu and JIGSAW

      ricchubunny

Super good, right? I love every song, but the ballads got a special place in my heart.

    3. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

@ricchubunny Same here! I'm generally not one for ballads but oh boy, these are some amazing ones.

  20. Holy fuck Mama sounds way better than Morphine did. I'm pretty sure that's partially because Saki has input in their music, and by that I mean hes making them play old school Vkei lol

    1. saishuu

      saishuu

that new song of theirs is a bop. I hope the rest of the mini is just as good

    2. patientZERO

      patientZERO

I liked Morphine's first output, but they got old real fast, so I never checked out Mama. Maybe I'll give them a listen now.

  21. I just had my first EDS related dislocation. I was practicing vocals and my jaw went out of socket, but I managed to get it back in but it fucking hurts like shit.

Note to self: Don't scream the lyrics to Banzai Ikare Kei by DEViL KiTTY so intensely

  22. According to facebook, someone reported my name, so I had to change it from Kanji/Chu Nom characters to Latin ones.

Why the fuck would anyone do this though?

  23. I haven't listened to any new vocaloid music and IDK where to start or if I'll like it as much as the older stuff.

Are there still vocaloid producers doing trance and eurobeat stuff like in 2008?

    1. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Like, are there still vocaloid songs that sound like this? Or has this style completely faded out within the vocaloid community?
