    DIMLIM

The official site had a change in admin and has been moved to: https://www.dimlim.net Hopefully you can access it, it should be working. As for corporate contracts with DHL etc, unfortunately as a small start up company we can't really think about that yet. We're hoping to expand our roster of bands with time and if the demand is there we would love to be able to open up those shipping options at affordable rates. A lot is going to depend on how the response is for the Dimlim merch overseas as bands (or rather, labels) here are very resistant to thinking there is enough demand to warrant opening up overseas sales. We want to prove them wrong. As for the time frame, this is not only up to us but also up to the band so we can't make promises yet. We personally are hoping for an early July time frame. Hoping is the key word but we are doing our best, 2020 hasn't really been the year most of us were hoping for.

    random thoughts thread

I know that this sounds whiny to some, but life sometimes terrifies me. The thought of growing old and slowly decaying, and there's nothing that can really be done about it. The thought of being nearly immobile in old age, due to the natural atrophy that occurs as one grows older and loses more and more of their muscle tone. The thought of experience cognitive decline, vision loss, hearing loss, and other forms of degenerative impaired function which occurs naturally as one grows older. It appears in order to cope with this insidious bodily decline, people are tasked to find life fulfillment, eudaimonia, self actualization etc. Many find this fulfillment by raising children and establishing families, which isn't easy for everyone. Aging sucks. I first joined this forum in 2011 during the tail-end of TW, you can guess that I'm now reaching my late 20s. I feel the same way I did 10 years ago. The only thing that's changed is I've become slightly more well rounded in general knowledge. All of my friends from a decade ago whom I've kept contact with haven't changed either, it would appear people's personalities typically cultivate around their mid teens and from there on it's only a matter of learning and experiencing. My point here is that aging sucks and there's little good about it unless you're capable of constantly improving yourself, but that's difficult when you struggle with motivation. I know that we are all capable of overcoming all of these hurdles if we stop making excuses and allow ourselves to. We limit our potential because we limit ourselves.

    Do you care about bitrate?

People seem to care a lot about bitrate. When I first joined this server the bitrate of releases was a central concern for people. I both did and didn't understand it. I can understand the concern for high quality audio if you prize high quality audio for novelty reasons. However in my mind, high quality sound is actually less convenient because of size, and if you're like me and you're obsessed with music, this can easily equate to many gigs of music, which ain't nice when your listening device is restricted by total GB. In my mind, bitrate is an extremely trivial matter to be worked up about, as it hardly makes a difference in terms of sound quality depending on the bitrates compared. As someone who owns a Hifiman-400 set, along with an ODAC 02, I feel I have both empirical evidence as well as data to back this up. 128 KBPS doesn't sound very different from lossless unless you have a really good ear. I could hear slight differences if I pay close enough attention, but for casual listening the difference feels negligible. Even with a powerful setup, an untrained ear will rarely be able to effectively make out the differences between 192 KBPS and 320 KBPS or lossless audio, which has been confirmed by studies. Furthermore, if you're listening to your music with a pair of apple earbuds rather than high end equipment, noticing this difference would be even more challenging. It's called the placebo effect, and it's very real. Personally, I feel that CD rips are generally high enough quality to suffice, unless they're being ripped below 128kbps. It's Youtube rips and sometimes transcodes that ruin a music file for me. Generally speaking, the production quality makes a significantly greater difference in sound quality. Do you value bitrate? If so, why? Are you an audiophile who believes that the quality difference is significant? Do you just care about quality regardless of whether or not you can make out the difference? Do you think I'm wrong about anything I've stated above? Or do you agree that people make too big a deal out of bitrate? I have no idea if I'm going to get criticized for this thread or what but I just wanted to share some thoughts.

    Worst Band Names in VK?

There was an oshare? band called 夢色♪FU☆SHI★GI☆団@CArroT. The drummer of Gaara (pretty good band imo) was their vocalist. Needless to say their sound was as frighteningly terrible as their name would evoke.

My ears aren’t that well trained and all these specific specs look like a lot of hassle to me, so I don’t usually pay attention.

    Worst Band Names in VK?

Visual kei aesthetics are so deep that it's both a visual and written (verbal) phenomenon. Do edgy names count? There was a visual kei band called 'Nazis' and one of their members is the vocalist of umbrella, a pretty good recent VK band.

    Worst Band Names in VK?

I tried to google them... Are they still around? Have they ever made music? 🤷 did they even know the meaning? Or were like "hey its English, it sounds fancy, let's take it" Hope they gave out instruction guides on how to say the bands name 🙈 There is stuff that got mentioned already here -if the name is bad to search -unnecessary stars, hearts, whatever Something to the band names by the way. There was German band called Itchy Poopzkid, those guys ended up with that name actually because of rolling a dice, but in the end they said we decided for a stupid name, now we will stay with a stupid name. (I think they was also drunk when they decided for that name) Thats story makes me wonder how some Japanese groups end up with their names 🤷 maybe it was even sometimes the management that decided for the name

For me, adding the bare numbers it would be a somewhat 6/10, however my feeling for the mini as a whole would be more towards a 7-8/10. The two singles didn't do much for me, many songs sounded the same to me, riffs seemed interchangable, I felt Ai sang the same melody over and over again.. I feel this mini is a big step in the right direction. 火炎瓶 and おやすみ。 together with parts of 「悪人」 are great - the rest sounds mostly forgettable and recycled to me. As a sidenote: I do not know if I always catched Ai on bad days, but those times I saw KtK live it always seemed that he is not capable of performing more than 20-30 minutes without his voice dissapearing/breaking... I wonder how it is now? I hope he worked on that, would be a shame otherwise I feel, he seemed like a cool guy.

Angelo will hold an acoustic concert on June 7th through a platform called Zaiko, tickets are 1,800 yen and the page seems very friendly for overseas fans, I was able to buy my ticket without any issue, it has many payment methods, etc. I'm not sure how the quality will be, but we'll see, so far I'm glad this page is friendly and I didn't have to use any strange tricks to register my account xD nor struggle finding my country in the list (surprisingly this happens a lot to me in other pages..). If you can, please support the band and join the concert! https://angelo.zaiko.io/e/AcousticLiveStreamingNeophase

I don't know if I agree with this statement. The "near-silent" breakdown has existed for a while and most recently dexcore. has done it in a couple songs, especially in their latest single, Dragout.

Angelo uploaded their 2019 live vide on Youtube (or most of it?): My apologies if someone posted it already, but I didn't find it? Anyway: IT'S GREAT! (I'm not the most objective person when this band's concerned but... yeah, it's great. Save for the first 10-15mn, as always with them, even in the Pierrot days.) And it's online until May 31th - 23:59 (Japanese time, of course).

Id say they refined their sound quite a bit, I can feel the band growing its identity, structuring themselves and taking songwriting a little further, so many things NAZARE has never tried before are done here and with a bit more elegance I guess? You won't hear a breakdown like nemophilas in many bands including NAZARE THEMSELVES pre-this Say trauma for example, it's Junan 2 basically, but has more to it, it's the same but going further

    MORE will be on hiatus

More's 5th anniversary live has been cancelled. However, they still plan on continuing activities once everything calms down. They've also released their new song, "Singin' in the Rain" on digital platforms as of 5/9! They've also revealed a new look!

Na, you aren't. I'm not using Spotify and stuff either. I'm just DLing and buying the CDs etc. when they're available, some way or another. And I'm positive that they'll release a physical version at a later point. I don't expect the digital version to have more than three tracks, either. I can imagine that they'll make a huge fuss over the physical release, advertising it with a bonus DVD and stuff. So basically their regular single release.

Yah Yoshiki takes the cake. It reminds me of one Prince's staff saying to Kevin Smith something along the lines of "you go tell him no because I am not. Prince has been living in Prince land too long." From connection went to Yoshiki's NHK recording last year and it was all hired foreigners acting disrespectful between takes along with actual X fans chosen from Yoshiki mobile, was supposed to be part of the questionnaire after but he chose to use only the fake foreign hired hands who knew nothing about X haha. The dude is a genius but needs someone to bring him back to reality and that will probably ground him to make better music, same thing seems to be a reoccurring thing with people who worked with Prince and had the balls to tell him the truth and set him back on course.

I honestly don't know what there is to gain by white knighting some high school dropouts rockstar dreams in the year 2020. The world is in lockdown, the polar caps are melting; I think if you're making art for profit in this age then you can fuck the right off and get a real job, even if it's visual kei where half of the appeal of this niche comes from the weird economy that sustains it.

Can't say I know of any productions that were specifically made for VK, but as referencing goes, I can think of a few animations that have brought in VK characters or small references. (Just about everything I know in films has already been mentioned) -The manga Skip Beat (follows show business) has a character named Reino who's in a visual kei band. -The anime Sket Dance has a visual kei character named Dante. He's voiced by Gackt (lol). -And I remember a friend of mine once showed me some Naruto mini where one of the characters was imagining the worst possible boyfriend scenario a girl could have and it was a visual kei dude (lol again). Needless to say, most of the portrayals are actually kind of negative. The character Gackt voices is stereotypical but also pretty comical, so that one isn't too bad. Also I think a few anime and video game characters have been modeled after Kiyoharu, but I don't know any specific names. Also not VK related, but I remember Kyan Yutaka was in a movie a few years ago. I think he's trying to make it as an actor. And if we count Onegai Versailles, then Golden Bomber also made their own movie a long time ago called Sorinokoshita Natsu. It was special, to put it nicely.

    JROCKERS AGES (facts and guesses)

Meto is younger than Mia. i'm pretty sure he was born in 1993 making him 25. I can tell you for the bands I follow: XAA-XAA Kazuki 29 Haru 29 Reiya 34 An idk for sure but he's the youngest. My guess is 27 or 28. Amai Bouryoku Saki 32 Kei 22 Aya and Yoshi are older than Saki but idk by how much. JILUKA Sena 25 (he accidentally dropped a hint about his age as I was talking to him) The others are allegedly around the same age give or take a year but I think Zyean might be a bit older. DIMLIM Ryuya 23 Retsu 21 or 22 Taishi 27 or 28 Sho 26 (that's what I heard from the Japanese fans but no one knows for sure) Hiroshi idk but probably around the same age as Sho and Taishi.
