she doesn't give your needs/feelings/space same priority she awarded to him by whatever reason, and she evidently puts enough mental effort to downplay his attitude/whatever he did in the past. she might keep some sort of internal rationalization in her head that she doesn't outright voice in your arguments. there might be a partial layer of stronger bonds between mothers and sons vs mothers and daughters - it's a stereotype etc but it's pretty accurate overall. I can't give out any advice in this situation, but given how much external perspective I've gained on family hypocrisy over the past recent years, there's very little chance for them to recognize that you indeed have a very serious and a very real reason to treat him the way you do, and act on that realization. it's either an ingrained internal double-standard for her precious first born, or crystal clear cynicism, and I've seen examples of both. there're ways to do that (a very serious conversation over your own view of what's going on and your clear disapproval of her repeating patterns of condoning him is a start), the problem is your best bet often times would be either developing coping mechanisms if you are otherwise better off staying with your family in your circusmtances, or just outright packing and leaving if you can afford the financial burden of moving out and have savings to do so. based on your side of story, the age and sex disparity, your can speak out, but there might be no one listening.

Draw the line that says you will not be looking to have any relation with this person and that any further push to coerce you into doing so will result in the breaking off of your relationship with her as well. Your safety and happiness should trump the comfort and justifications that are enabling him to never apologize or improve. Of course, this is assuming you are in a position where this is possible. Telling someone in your support system "no" is extremely hard in general, so I cannot even imagine what it's like in this dark of a situation.

Love them or hate them, almost everyone's got an opinion about Dir en grey. The scene stops to listen whenever Dir en grey announce a new single or album. As a long time fan of the band, I think it's the perfect time to express how I feel about all of their albums. My feelings will differ from album to album. Some albums have had the benefit of twenty years and others only a few months, so that's always going to be a factor in how I rank things. I will cover this from my least favorite album to my most favorite album, but by no means take this as a definitive list for Dir en grey. Everyone will have their own rankings and their own suggestions for where to start. I happen to think that this also a great order to introduce someone to this band. This is a perfect topic for those that don't listen to Dir en grey or don't know where to start, current fans looking for spicy opinions and a pot to stir, or even old fans looking for a reintroduction into their new era. Not only have I included a PV for each album as a sampler, but I also put together suggested playlists for each album. The playlists are the order that I would have arranged the band if I were them. The songs are the songs that I believe are the best from each period. Some will require more effort than others to construct. To make it simpler, I have included my favorite three tracks and one music video from each album. I will not consider the mini albums MISSA and six Ugly in this analysis, but some of those tracks will appear in the playlists I create. Look, the only thing you can do is just live your life the way you best see fit and ignore/leave this behind as much as you can. You don't need to continue having any relationship whatsoever with your brother and to be bluntly honest, your mom is just gonna have to learn to deal with it. The way she feels about your brother is not your responsibility -- and I know it sucks that you probably feel like you can see through everything clearly and that you'd like your mother and everyone else to be able to do the same, but unfortunately that's not how it works. You gotta be kind of egoistic here and think primarily of yourself. It seems everyone in your situation is an adult, which means they're fully capable and should be held responsible for their actions. This might be a cliche statement, but trust me, it helps put things into perspective. As someone who's been dealing with an abusive father for almost 29 years and whose mom still hopes on God that he's gonna overcome alcoholism and his violent behavior and the entire family is gonna live happily ever after, I can tell you that whatever you do to deal with this, it's gonna suck one way or the other. You're probably gonna feel kind of hopeless forever (yay!), but at least you can find comfort in knowing you did what you could and that all you can do going forward is live by what you think makes you happy. I refuse to participate in the ongoing kisou slander this forum has developed a taste for over the past few years. granted the 『average western stans』 wilding out in their thread started this, but we can do better sisters, FILTH alone deserves more praise than a hole decade worth of their bullshit formulaic recent singles. looking back, uroboros was surprisingly good at the time considering the absolute horse shit they were throwing out through entire DSS TMOAB era with no signs of stopping until the actual album dropped, and everything about it surpassed the (extremely tepid) expectations. do I listen to any of it ten years later? like no, ffs no, never again.

I think a huge part in the Uroboros to DSS sales slump was that the popularity of weeb shit was sinking fast and the promotional machine falling apart by the seams. The optimism for the foreign market must've been massive after 2008 and I'm sure tons of money was spent on promoting Deg overseas with next to no return to that investment. That must've been very disappointing both for the band and management once it was finally realised that they peaked in American and European venue size already back in 2006 and it's only going to be downhill from there no matter what they do. I consider this band entering their old man phase right around when Sukekiyo was formed and Arche was released. The ambition that went to DSS is obviously on a different level to Arche and TiW, but whether that's a good thing depends on what you think of their Monster energy drink-pig squeal-core-Mike Patton-time signature wanking era. To me the band that made everything from Missa to Vulgar ain't the same band as this one. Sometimes when I put on a track like 24k Cylinders or Macabre in the right state of mind I go like fuck, what a fucking band that was. It's the same guitarists farting that fucking dial-up modem sounding chug that made egnirys and 304? I cannot believe it. thank u

I'm going to be blunt and say that my oldest brother, the oldest out of us seven, is not a good human being and an abuser. Because of this, certain members of my family find it hard to get along with them, though it wasn't the lack of trying. The crimes he did were so heinous and had such a negative impact, with no real acknowledgment from him or apology that it was too hard to keep civil anymore even for my mom's sake. My mom states that she's the only one who has faith in him when he's never really done anything to redeem himself and gets mad when I dont acknowledgme anything he does. As of late he wasn't invited to my sisters wedding and he's not invited to my brothers wedding either at his fiance's request to protect her child. If I get married he won't be invited either, I barely consider him family anymore. However the way she talks about our trauma with him is odd, that if any regular Joe schmoe did this to us she'd want his head. She expects the victim to just realize he's "trying his best" despite he keeps playing victim. Like he hasn't caused any psychological damage to his victims at all and his wife says they're being over dramatic about it. How can I relay to my mom that even though he's her son, and our brother, his actions are just way too severe and we dont owe him any sympathy or forgiveness? If this topic is too heavy feel free to delete it, I just had to get it off my chest.

@BrenGun is correct. She floated this idea a while ago, and we gave her the same reason then as we did now: it's a lot of work to maintain. Splitting the forum into visual kei and "other" a few years ago took a concerted effort from all of us, and it took hours, and it wasn't perfect. To maintain a "new bands" section would require us to put forth that kind of effort regularly. That work would fall on the staff...and we are not doing it. On top of that, I think that this idea would not work because of user browsing habits. I have observed that users are less likely to frequent a particular sub forum here the more deeply nested that sub forum is, and that's because it is not immediately obvious that the forum is there. It's true for every forum category here, and even for groups, a criminally underrated feature which allows members to construct their own "forums" here. Only a fraction of users here will ever frequent a forum nested more than three levels deep, and barely anyone uses the groups functionality. Even topic tags would be messy because someone would have to tag all of the new band threads, and someone else would have to go through and untag those threads after X amount of time. Nobody is doing that. We could hire an entire team of moderators, give em a color (let's say green), and make that their only task and they still wouldn't do it...because it's a soul crushing task with no reward other than "Thanks!" from some stranger halfway across the planet posting on MH using two coconuts and a McDonald's Wi-Fi connection. Finally, I don't think this would work because of user posting habits (which is related to their browsing habits but is not the same). The News section is so popular because that's where breaking news goes, and then tons of members post their feelings and responses to updates and conversation there. The Artist forum should be the place of 90% of the conversation that happens in the news thread, and we've tried to redirect conversation there in the past, but members just like posting in the News section. 🤷‍♂️ tl;dr: The news section is always going to be packed and clogged with threads. It's a good problem to have. Any attempt at wrangling order out of chaos is futile. Thank you for posting this topic but the answer is no.

There's always a reason for people to do what they do. And in this instance, I am referring to both your mother and your oldest brother, but for different reasons. I have no idea what your brother did and I'm not going to ask you to share it, so you can pretend that I "covered" it. I don't understand the whole situation concerning you and your mother, but I can relate. I understand what it feels like to know a family member is horrible person but apparently nothing you do can convince someone otherwise. If the math isn't adding up, odds are there is something you don't know. Maybe a lot of things. Some piece of the picture that you are missing. Parents are pretty good at hiding their past from their children. The only two people in this world that would be able to tell you are your mother and your brother, and we can nix the last one. To get her to understand where you are coming from, you first have to understand where she is coming from. You need to understand where her mind is so you can break down that mental fortress she's put up between her and her pain, so the points that you are making can come across. Right now she hears you but she doesn't. Doing this may require you to learn some painful things about your family that you may not be ready for. Prepare yourself to the best of your ability, and begin by thinking about the types of questions that you should be asking. There's obviously some reason why she wants to keep extending the metaphorical olive branch, and that's at the heart of your issue here. Until you figure out what that reason is, the situation probably will not change.

I really enjoyed this thread. Thank you @Zeus. As for DSS to ARCHE, I did somewhat of a case study for it. The band (or maybe just Kaoru) did want to make a more badass version of Uroboros because of how well received Uroboros was. They were really confident and very open when it came to promo for DSS. Remember how Shinya did a QnA on FB? And how they had giveaways every other day like a month or so before DSS dropped and the twitter account was hella active? Once the album dropped and they seen how many units it sold, it definitely hurt their ego and overall morale. To paint a picture here's what i was able 2 pull from Wiki: Uroboros JP sales: 43,316 US Sales/Shipments: 6054 VS. DSS JP Sales: 37,586 US Sales/Shipments: 3,900 (if im wrong here or these numbers are inaccurate, please let me know) The bands attitude shifted after that and I remember there was a lot of talk about them hating each other and possibly disbanding, due to the interviews that dropped post the release of the album. It also didn't help that the performances were and arguably still are pretty bad due to how they recorded DSS. Clearly the band didn't learn their lesson because they proceeded to take the same approach when it came to the Unraveling, which imo aged badly minus a few songs. The band did go back to basics when it came to ARCHE and that same energy they went into DSS with was non-existent. Yes, they did learn how to work together again but they played it safe sound wise. It has hints of their oldie stuff mixed with DSS, thus making it one of their most lukewarm albums to date and imo it doesn't hold up well years later. The Insulated World, is a step in the right direction. It has elements from ARCHE and DSS that blend well with each other and has enough freshness thrown in that separates its self from them. Its also has some of the bands worst written songs to date...Zetsuentai and Devote My Life belong in a dumpster fire. As much as I love the album, its no where near as creative as DSS or Uroboros. DSS is where the band peaked and now they're in the same boat as Lynch. and the GazettE. They've found their medium and they're gonna stay there, while occasionally doing something that really stands out. The World of Mercy should be a clear indicator of that. And THAT IS FINE. Promotion wise, I don't think they care much for it at this point. ARCHE had like 2 singles but they were REALLY spaced out. The insulated world had like 2 other really spaced out singles as well. Though, a lot of that could be because of DECAYS and Sukekiyo. They also stopped dropping physical releases for the US as well and I think that's out of spite for the low sales DSS did over here.

Coming to say Insulated World is a solid third place for me because I feel bad that it’s getting absolutely no love

My advice: don‘t try to change her mind. If she‘s willing to hold on to her son, it‘s okay, even though he might not deserve this. She‘s a mother, afterall and it is excruciating to realize: damn, my son is a failure. Hence, have I failed? I know it might be nerve-wrecking but in my opinion it is not your business to convince her that she shouldn‘t hold on to him. However, you don‘t owe her to go along with that. If you say she is downplaying the effect of his actions towards you guys, point it out and that it is hurtful to you. Always expect her to respect your view on the situation and the consequences your view has. Respect her clinging to her son, but demand that you won‘t go along with that.

GCR has already signed bands over the years. In the past they've had Hollowgram, Redrum, Blesscode, Vetique and probably others. Gotcharocka is still signed to them. He may retire as a performer, or at least take a long break. I doubt he'll do so as a producer. Hide-Zou is also a major producer at GCR, but idk what the other members will do.

So Asagi wrote a very long blog entry on D's future, as they'll be celebrating their 17th anniversary soon. He reveals that their latest single Uncrowned King was released at the last minute through God Child Records, because they missed the deadline (???) to release it through Avex, their current label, who had to approve it first. He addresses the changing industry, how streaming has broken the barrier between indies and major acts, and reflects on his health issues during D's activities. THE MARROW OF A BONE is their worst album for me as there are not many prominent songs on it, but 艶かしき安息、躊躇いに微笑み is simply one of their most beautiful ballads ever composed. I grew up with GAUZE so it's my all time fav album of theirs whereas WtD is their masterpiece beating UROBOROS which IMO is overrated.

Guess I wrote it somewhere in this forum already, but...Arche is my favorite, and I love it to the extent that I would dare to say it is my favorite album ever. I agree with the flop tracks you mentioned (although Inferno is the only track that I really think is not fitting into the album). But all the other tracks I love soo much, they speak to me on a personal level and I think Shinyas drumming is particularly well-fitting. Everything on this album sounds so perfectly well-matched, I guess to some people it is too ‚perfect‘? Dum spiro spero is my 2nd favorite, I just like the long tracks, like a symphony that takes you through different places. Not too much into the mix though. I don‘t really get the hate for marrow of a bone...it has some really nice tracks with raw emotion, which is what dir en grey fans like I guess? And Uroboros is great, too...it‘s gloomy track Bugaboo made me their fan! I don‘t listen too much to withering, though musically I think Insulated is their worst album. However, I do enjoy live performances of its songs, so I guess in the end you cant do else but have slight for anything they do.
