I prefer to say complementary. There are things one gender is good at or can do that the other can't, and we need each other to survive. I think we've reached the tipping point and we're on our way back to the middle, but this can take years. I don't think we'll see actionable change until people of all walks of life can complain and be heard without banshees screeching in the night about how "it's their turn".

[Band Battle] キズ (Kizu) vs. DIMLIM

It's been a while since I cranked a Band Battle thread, but I thought this would make for an interesting match up! I've seen both Kizu and DIMLIM referred to as saviors of modern VK, but which band is MH REALLY feelin' the most? So, as always - which band do you prefer, and why? キズ (Kizu) Samples: VS DIMLIM Samples: hajime!!!

This. That’s why women who were raped or who was impregnated by a family member should not give birth. The emotional trauma will ensue and will end up leaving the mother depressed. I don’t want any women living with something they don’t want.

Um...so feminists are now saying that it's inequality because the men's line to the restroom is shorter than women's and that women need more space. 😅 -I'd appreciate a concrete rule for current events in the event that I make a topic of something that may be recent, but it's not exactly current events. As always, if this is in the wrong place, please feel free to put it where applicable.

that's really interesting what you said, and definitely something to ponder deeply. i didn't mean that i wanted these labels to be necessarily erased.as you said, they create a sense of community, and till that it's ok. but the current scenario isn't good.these group of people or communities doesn't seem to be satisfied purely as a community most of them became edgy people, trying to spread their worldview to the masses, sometimes pushing it down your throat,by trying to create laws that puts in danger your freedom of speech, disrespecting and mockering those who don't agree with them.they're promoting the segregation of society with the excuse that it's a fight for rights and equallity.

why exactly are we talking about abortion in this topic? take that somewhere else @Manji 卍 @Gesu
  16. 2 points
But who owns their lives if they're not even alive yet?
  17. 2 points
@Manji 卍 Technically, the foetus doesn't have any form of sentience until about the third trimester (maybe a bit before). I think the lesser of two evils in that situation would be to abort, because it's more fair to let the woman live a happy life than to force her to give birth to a baby she doesn't even want. That's physically and emotionally traumatising. If she does the latter, she could end up severely depressed and the baby most likely wouldn't have a great life anyways. Also, just giving it to an adoption centre leads to overcrowding and kids who were already there not getting adopted, so nobody really wins in that situation.

I'm not sure if anyone's really influenced my hair, but I've noticed it's kinda similar to Masashi from Versailles'. My makeup sometimes changes, but not drastically. I just like studying VK makeup and finding things I like by accident... and even then, my makeup's not really that VK, anyways. Rip. Oh, well. At least I always make sure to put that obligatory pale stripe down the bridge of my nose. As for my clothes, I want to be a tanbi kei goth-loli. I have a big wish list on Lolitashow, but my bank account says "no" at the moment. Right now, I'd say I'm closer to otome kei than anything. My hair's kinda VK, but everything else just screams "otome". Not that I mind. If I play otoge, I may as well look otokei. Also, I know you can't see it in that picture, but there's a massive black bow on the back of my head, just as there always is. Just the way I like it.

    MALICE MIZER

A lot can be said, positive and negative about the legacy of MALICE MIZER, whether it's the abrupt departure of Tetsu after just one year, the GACKT years, the untimely death of Kami or the rise and fall in the Klaha years. There's no better way to understand how MALICE MIZER went from unknown to legends of Visual Kei than to start in the beginning. In the Beginning: The Era of Tetsu MALICE MIZER was formed in August of 1992 when former guitarist of Matenrou, Közi joined forces with the support bassist Mana and the two recruited the former Ner-vous vocalist Tetsu, former ZE:RO bassist Yu~ki and former DATURA (not to be confused with DatuRΛ) drummer Gaz to form MALICE MIZER (a postmanteau of Malice and Misery) with a concept based on the darker side of human nature. MALICE MIZER immediately began activities and released their first demo tape SANS LOGIQUE which had foregone vocals and released Speed of Desperate on the compilation album Brain Trash which featured acts such as ALUCARD, DIE=KÜSSE, THE PIASS and Gazelle. Shortly after Brain TRASH, Gaz departed and Kami joined; Kami being the only other drummer for the band until his untimely death. MALICE MIZER released a few more demos before releasing their debut album memoire on Mana's newly founded label Midi:Nette. Tetsu then left the band at the end of 1994 with a live performance titled Cher de memoire II on December 27th. Taking a Different Route: It's Gackt Time MALICE MIZER went into 1995 without a vocalist, but they didn't let it stop their surge as they performed without a vocalist for a sponsored event titled Dai Goya Higeki no Bansan Vol.5 (第五夜 悲劇の晩餐 Vol.5) before Gackt officially joined the band as the new vocalist with his first performance on October 10th Karei naru Fukkatsugeki. The music of MALICE MIZER took a drastic turn and was the catalyst for the rise of Gackt as a performer and set the stage for his continued success after leaving the band as the band went from a Gothic sound to a more upbeat sound; something that became a signature of Gackt's solo career. In 1996 MALICE MIZER released their second album Voyage sans retour and underwent a nationwide one-man tour culminating in a show titled Sans retour Voyage deux 1996. MALICE MIZER continued their stride in 1997 when they signed a contract with major label Nippon Columbia, a subsidiary of Columbia Music Company as well as undergoing a sold-out nationwide tour with STANDING TOUR '97 Pays de merveilles ~空白の瞬間の中で~ and a regularly broadcast radio show MALICE MIZER no Mayonaka no s'il vous plaît on CBC Radio. Merveilles, MALICE MIZER's third album and second featuring Gackt as vocalist is released in March of 1998, the band announced merveilles ~Shuuen to kisuu~ in which the tickets sold out in just two minutes as well as undergoing a new radio show MALICE MIZER no shisetsu hisho no chojutsu on Chiba's renowned bay-fm radio station. However, things would take a turn when in January Gackt decided to leave the band at the peak of their popularity to form own solo project that he continues to this day, simply called GACKT featuring a backing band appropriately titled GACKTJOB. As if losing their vocalist wasn't bad enough tragedy struck when in June beloved drummer Kami passed away suddenly from a subarachnoid hemorrhage, more commonly referred to as a brain hemorrhage. With the world crashing down around his shoulders, Mana underwent damage control and returned MALICE MIZER to his own label. Malice Mizer went on to release one song after Gackt left, a piano song called Saikai no Chi to Bara. Little did they know that their fortunes were about to change as their savior was right around the corner. From Rebirth to Climax: The Year of Klaha PRIDE OF MIND former vocalist Klaha joined MALICE MIZER on vocals on August 31st and would be the third and final vocalist for the group. MALICE MIZER proceeded to get back to making music right away with the release of their fourth and final album Bara no Seidou and Klaha had his first live performance one week later with Bara ni irodorareta akui to higeki no makuake - Dai icihiya saikai no bara. Sadly, nothing lasts forever and after several singles, a feature length, albeit silent film Bara no Konrei ~Mayonaka ni Kawashita Yakusoku~ and even a concert DVD in 2001, MALICE MIZER went on an indefinite hiatus at the end of the year. Each member releasing their own respective personal messages regarding the hiatus on the bands official website. Post Mortem: An Uncertain Future After MALICE MIZER went on an indefinite hiatus the respective members were quick to move on to other projects, except for Yu~ki who's only activity since the hiatus was contributing to a song on Közi's solo project. The aforementioned Közi went on to be in a managare of bands, first with HARUHIKO ASH in Eve of Destiny, then started a solo project as well as XA-VAT, ZIZ, VAMQUET and joined Ryo from 9Goats Black Out to form a nu-goth band called DĂLLE. Mana quickly formed his own solo project that is still running strong today called Moi dix Mois and launched his own fashion label Moi-même-Moitie as well as becoming a producer for the band Schwarz Stein and cellist Kanon Wakeshima. Tetsu formed several bands of varying styles of music after leaving MALICE MIZER with the most notable being ZIGZO and Nil. Gackt has been active as a solo artist since leaving MALICE MIZER and subsequently ventured into film and television while Klaha released a solo mini-album and full length album before disappearing from the scene in 2004, not to be heard from again. MALICE MIZER may be no more, but the pieces have come together several times since the hiatus, Közi joining Mana's Moi dix Mois in 2008 at Dis Inferno Vol.VI ~Last Year Party~ and again in 2009 for a two stop tour Deep Sanctuary; Deep Sanctuary becoming a staple event for Moi dix Mois from then on. Moi dix Mois and Közi went on another, longer tour in 2010, six shows aptly named Deep Sanctuary II which featured the return of Yu~ki on bass; the three reuniting on stage for the first time in nine years. The show featured MALICE MIZER classics such as Saikai no Chi to Bara and Beast of Blood as well as a cover of shock rocker Rob Zombie's What Lurks on Channel X. Moi dix Mois then held a tenth anniversary concert Le dixieme anniversaire Live 2011~2012 ~Tetsugaku no Hahen Dainana Shou Shinen naru Seiiki Deep Sanctuary III~ which saw Közi performing with his new band ZIZ with Yu~ki returning on bass. Sadly the original drummer Gaz passed away on December 22nd 2017, one year before the bands 25th anniversary and the subsequent reunion show last year Deep Sanctuary Ⅵ MALICE MIZER 25th Anniversary Special which featured the return of the trio as well as former roadies for the band performing their own renditions of classic songs, such as former LAREINE vocalist KAMIJO joining for his own take on the Gackt era songs APRES MIDI and Bel Air ~Kuuhaku no Shunkan no Naka De~, cali≠gari's Shuuji with a riff on the Tetsu era's Kioku to Sora and ILLUMINATI as well as Moran former vocalist Hitomi with Gackt's Madrigal and N.p.s.N.g.s. The show featured ZIZ and Moi dix Mois performing their own songs and MALICE MIZER covers with the show ended with a tribute to the departed Kami and all of the guest vocalists singing together for Ma chérie ~Itoshii Kimi E~. There have been teases for years and the band have come back in several shapes, but whether they will return with the likes of any of their three former vocalists is unlikely or at best up in the air with all of them seemingly content with their careers and lives and consider MALICE MIZER a part of their past. The future of MALICE MIZER is uncertain, but it's safe to say that the Visual Kei scene would be shaken to the core if the stars aligned and the malice and misery rose like a phoenix for a second time. honestly, i can only speak from my own experiences from existing within a marginalized group. the only thing i really want is to be able to survive and not be mocked or made fun of for trying to be content with my survival. but, yeah, i get it. some people do take it really far and assume things that don’t seem like attacks (to me anyway) are. although, this isn’t me saying that jokes about trans folk are funny. i think it depends on the joke itself and the implication? like i have a friend who is fat, so she calls herself a trans fat sometimes and that’s p funny.

[Band Battle] キズ (Kizu) vs. DIMLIM

You are correct in that Kizu targets females as they do a lot of instores and interact with fans, like most vk bands. I don't think DIMLIM particularly targets males, though. Rather they just don't really do instores or interact with fans that much cause they're all awkward af. Not doing instores/eigyou is a no-go for a lot of bangya. In addition, they don't play often (1-3 times a month), they manage themselves, they don't really have money or a lot of connections, Sho doesn't use SNS and the others are bad at it (another turn off for bangya as well as overseas fans), and they're not consistent with releases. The quality of their releases post-Issei have been top notch, but in the past year they've only put out a 10 song/2 SE album and a two song single with a 10 month gap between them. Also I don't think they would achieve more if they dropped VK (tbh they're barely vk as it is). There's no money in metal in Japan unless you make it big and very few bands do. I like both bands a lot, but I stan DIMLIM (no surprise there) They're kinda clueless and not very consistent about certain things, but they're doing their best with their limited resources and I really respect/appreciate that, and their improvement post-Issei is honestly incredible. I love Kizu's music and they put on great shows. I had a lot of good times seeing them in 2017, but there were so many crazy/desperate/violent people at their liquidroom oneman last year. My friends and I were being kicked by the people in front of us for 90% of the time🙄 I haven't gone since because I don't want to deal with that crap anymore. It's a real shame they have such terrible fans cause the guys really are good at what they do. As for DIMLIM's lives, they are a lot more chill.

[Band Battle] キズ (Kizu) vs. DIMLIM

I prefer Dimlim, but they will never be as popular as Kizu. Kizu already pull crowds that Dimlim can only dream of. I think it might have something to do with Kizu targeting female audience specifically, whereas Dimlim's music are more suited for males. Personally, I believe that Dimlim would have achieven more in Japan had they dropped of the visual kei look.

I’m late on posting about this, but I went to the show in London! It was really good and the setlist was amazing (shoutout to INCUBUS appearing on there along with Cockroach!) My only issue was that I found Ruki was kinda hard to hear, I felt the instruments kinda drowned him out, and he was easier to hear when he was singing higher notes (all my opinion btw) Oh, and getting squirted by Ruki’s water and seeing his water bottle fly over my head was quite the highlight! XD

Nice pairing... quite a hard choice too. This will take me some time, lol. On one hand, I find Kizu's output far more consistent, but DIMLIM has more highlights and memorability in some of their songs (but also some terrible misses). Also, funnily enough, both are bands I didn't quite like initially but gradually warmed up to over time. Ah screw it, I'm going with Kizu.

i’m not sure the labels are the issue? trans women of color aren’t being murdered, beaten, etc bc of the label itself. it’s not the labels causing problems, but probably more so that it’s human nature to judge and categorize, at least at the very core. there’s obviously other contributing factors. labeling is also part of human nature. our brains automatically categorize things to try and understand them. groups exist to create a sense of community. considering all the bullshit i see in comments on articles about trans folk (as an example), finding a place where you’re accepted for being who you are without any question (community) is important. erasing labels is idealistic, but not even close to realistic.

@secret_no_03 GZUS,i'm not saying that the murderers were feminists declared, nor @Euronymous said so. we pointed that all these things are, indeed, related to each other. @Gesu i was always pro abortion.but after multiple researchers and videos about the subject i changed my opinion. abortion is murder.your body is yours, but from the moment that there's another living creature inside of your,it's no longer your decision whether the kid has to live or not.The fetus/kid is depending on you,but it's not you,you don't have the right. Even at the most horrible cases like raping, the mother must bear with it for the sake of the baby, and if she wants to,give it to the adoption when it's born.

@Zeus I knew that would get brought up. I don't have the answer to that because unfortunately the current trend is to shut men's voices down. I see it as a tsunami. Women were oppressed and abused for centuries (picture the wave retreating further and further into the horizon) until things finally turned on their head (see the tsunami hitting), so we're going through a very extreme right now. Eventually it'll settle down I believe, to a point where everyone has a say. My point still stands though, that if men want more victim shelters, etc. They need to help out each other. There's actually a very interesting feminist podcast I heard recently, where a group of men discuss the effects of toxic masculinity and how they're only learning to deal with the effects of it now well into their 30s. One of them is always hired to go into companies and give talks about harassment and how it should be avoided. If its a man to man talk, it's easier to relate and understand, as he said. The same would go for therapy. Anyway, it's not in English otherwise I'd love to share as it'd help get my point across better. Edit: also, just because we're going through these extreme times, does it mean we should stop trying to raise awareness to certain issues? Isn't that as good as giving up? And what good ever came from that? Social change happens from action, no matter how small.

that'm impressive really! XD I used to really like their concepts but only a few songs appealed to me. I used to be a big sceptic when it comes to digital content and paying for the stuff you don't really physically own. Steam got me used to it first, I suppose, now I don't even have a CDrom in my PC ^^; As for Spotify, it's a great place to get into new music imo, most importantly music that would not be readily available to you via mainstream media. I pay for premium and I think it's a steal with the amount of music I listen to on a daily basis. And it scrobbles automatically to last.fm ;=; Now even jrock/vk is jumping on the bandwagon (maybe more dipping their toes than jumping but hey, it's better than nothing!).
