no that's bs and you should bring this stuff up, there should be noticeable and very real improvement coming from ur medication regimen within the first days, otherwise it likely won't work longterm either; you are expected to wait out several weeks, but it's not typically what happens irl either. I would quietly start looking for another dr and I've heard personal anecdotes of bad citalopram reactions (I've never been on it myself tho so idk), but this isn't a normal or even acceptable response to ADs if you're thinking about dropping them altogether I can honestly tell I loved zoloft while it worked for me and this was a shared sentiment in the depression thread I've frequented on elsewhere, but you should be aware that dropping a dr if you don't get any real and tangible improvement is a normal part of the process and you might go through it several times ltr, all depends on how well your condition responds to med treatment

I mean, it might change the scene a bit. I quite enjoyed going to vk stores in shinjuku, it's always nice to look at a physical collection of CDs, but that is just the 90s kid in me. However, the rest is basically going to stay the same, I guess. People are just going to download the music. However, I think this'll take some time. You talked about the west, saying that record stores are a rarity there. I can honestly not say the same about Europe. While sales of physical CDs have been declining, there are still huge record stores here. And since Japan loves places such as book of or twoer records, they will continue buying it + I think companies in Japan have their ways of attracting people to buy physical albums. Take k-pop for instance: in Europe, people often download the songs illegally, and then buy the physical CD. Simply because they like the design/want to support the band/want the special features. VK is the same in that respect.

Everything is a cycle. We are in the beginning of a transition away from physical to digital goods, because right now we can see the benefits of all digital and the disadvantages of physical media. Give streaming time to mature as a delivery service and there are bound to be issues that crop up unique to streaming, issues that physical media doesn't have to deal with, and eventually we'll settle on some medium where streaming and physical media can coexist. IMO, visual kei will have to accept streaming eventually. It's not a big enough scene to make "demands" on how people consume their music. Fans will just pirate the music if companies continue to make it difficult to acquire visual kei music legally. I think that once a few high ranking businessmen in the scene see the potential behind streaming, visual kei will naturally transition itself into streaming. Once this happens, the way business is done will forever change. I expect that multi type releases will become a thing of the past, since they don't work as well digitally. Exclusive tracks to a streaming platform is possible. The piracy scene will change as well if it's not as easy to get a hold of physical media.

CDs are still massive in Japan and as vkei isn't that big out of Japan I don't think there's anything to worry about. Personally I much prefer physical releases to digital and am glad a lot of these bands aren't jumping on the digital bandwagon or only releasing a few physical copies and charging way more for it than a normal album.(which some bands are doing and vkei would no doubt take advantage of that) But when you consider live only releases and stuff, people literally travel from all over to make that show to get that CD if they can. Also it's not uncommon for Japanese to buy multiple copies of one CD, (usually one to use and one to keep wrapped as a collectors item) or to try and get all the collectible cards that come with the physical release. I can't remember what the group was called but when I was in Japan once, went into a tower records and there was some idol group performing in there and a guy in the queue to buy some stuff in front of me had 2 singles by this group but literally about 10 copies of each one. So even though digital is obviously becoming more of a thing in Japan I do feel like physical is still much preferred there.

One thing I forgot to mention was a recent article I read (which kind of spawned off the whole iTunes removal "debacle" prior to WWDC) that said CDs had vastly less sentimentality attached to them in the West because they're really just plastic vessels (using that word a lot tonight) for digital files. Hence, why CD interest is falling out at a rapid rate. It kind of makes sense considering how sterile/uninspired CD releases can be where I'm at v. the attention to detail when it comes to Japanese CDs. I wonder if it's the art, but I'm not sure because I have plenty of American CDs that are pretty decent. I haven't bought a CD recently to know if it's gotten worse, though. TL;DR: CDs themselves really become "untouched collectibles" at a certain point, but the attention to detail in the rest of the case makes a difference. I feel like that detail is becoming more uninspired with the information/art more available online. Another thing I didn't mention on my main post was the impending rollout of 5G network infrastructure, which would increase the viability in offering more lossless streaming/downloading services for mobile (though not necessarily a magic solution.) I didn't really mention this, because for most people, Apple Music's 256kbps is enough. Also, the conversation starts to segue into dealing with other parts of the world & other areas with low internet speeds where they don't have the infrastructure to benefit from this.

Eventually, they’ll have to adapt. CD stores are going out of business, even though they held on decently compared to the West. The bands will always have their core gya that throw money at them. Physical releases are only one of the ways that they do this. With the CD format becoming less popular, i wouldn’t be surprised if many of these lay untouched, as collectibles more than anything. I can’t predict the popularity of vinyl in Japan. Luna Sea’s LP re-releases all come with English translation booklets, so i’m pretty sure they knew their audience here.

CDs have just recently faced a downturn last year, but they still make up a huge chunk of music sales. There are lot of factors at play here, but Japan in particular has this "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality with a lot of things (fueled in part by gerontocracy.) I can't speak for the Japanese (there's likely an MH topic on this as well), but to my knowledge, Japan has this unique fixation with old physical media (and cultures outside their own.*) It's to the point where I'd doubt interest will fade away without the physical media literally degrading first. Also, it's kind of imbued in Japanese culture to dislike illegal downloading to the point where it's largely avoided (also the fact that said sites are mainly in English.) I certainly think Japan will follow suit with with the West in streaming adoption, but it will be a staggered one. I think Japan's larger music industry will fight tooth-and-nail to keep "piracy-proof" solutions around, whether they use "m-cards" or some other physical vessels to distribute digital downloads (like those weird micro-sd solutions.) It's really hard to imagine a post physical-media world, not only in Japan, but everywhere else as well. There is definitely concern that if we went all digital, these providers like Spotify could "poof" artists/music out of existence and no one would be able to do anything. Hell, even Apple has been guilty of zapping (really obfuscating, the files were still there) mp3s "out" of user's libraries if they had an iTunes/Apple Music equivalent. TL;DR, I don't really know what will happen. I can't approach this topic from an "audiophile" point of view, because audio quality is not the main impetus for most people when it comes to purchasing music/services. But just having music just be "accessible", which is certainly great, kind of makes me feel dead inside... It's this weird dilemma we'll all have that newer generations might barely think about in the future... Or maybe there's a longing for it, a revival of sorts born out of interest and sentimentality like the vinyl boom. * Just noticed this was kind of a blurb. I'm really just alluding to the rampant "collector culture" in Japan. Someone more familiar with this could expand the topic. ** To my knowledge, rather than having a "vinyl boom", Japan has had a sustained interest that's recently spiked. *** Forgot to mention the "handshake economy" which fuels a lot of CD sales in the idol industry. That could easily be substituted by a "digital lottery" of sorts. **** Oddly timed update, but I found a good way to summarize this: Many of the Japanese indie bands I follow are actually going the way of digital + streaming nowadays to spread their music. Streaming also pays without having to initially invest in CDs and physical goods, which is ideal for smaller bands who just want their SOUND out there (YouTube is also included in this.) CDs however, are a no-brainer for IDOLS as they generate revenue off of some sort of imagery and personality. Idols include Visual Kei musicians, K-pop + J-pop idols, Anime musicians + seiyuu, etc. All of these genres/scenes are reliant on CD sales because they are extensions of their image. Only changes at the top of the Japanese CD industry (AKB's, Johnny's, major anime) can change the ones below it, like Visual Kei. Until there is some foolproof medium that generates as much revenue as CDs do when it comes to image and advertising potential, they won't "move on".

    Introductions

To all of you lovely people here, this is the chance to introduce yourself! You don't need to get personal, you can just post who you are, maybe your hobbies, and what you like about AnCafe/when you started listening to them and why? My name is AwesomeNyappy. I started listening to Ancafe when I was 13. Bou was still in the band (haha, I'm old), and he used to be my favourite member. I absolutely adored his style and used to print out pictures of the band that I would keep in a folder or pin to my wall. A friend of mine once have me a mix CD with Japanese music that an older friend of hers compiled (she was big into visual kei and cosplay.) I'd already been a fan of manga and anime for many years, so this wasn't quite of stretch. At first I thought the music sounded a bi weird, but then I got really into it. AnCafe was my first and will probably be my favourite visual kei band forever. Their sound used to be light, full of hope and yet there was a hint of melancholy and sadness about it too. I have fond memories of listening to the band when I was on holiday as a young teenager. They were also my first concert. I had just turned 16, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Managed to again see them in 2014 in Berlin, and am very thankful for that. When they disbanded, it felt as if an era in my life had come to an end/as if I had lost a part of myself, as cheesy as that sounds. I really wanted to get their last live DVD as well, but i missed the deadline to order it by a day (I know...but I was very stressed at that time, and I wasn't even sure if I should get it for 120 euros are a lot of money.) I still try not to regret not taking the last chance to get their autographs because of how much they meant to me. I wanted this last DVD to say goodbye to them, but I guess there is nothing I can do about it now. At the same time, imagine it would've gotten lost in the mail....I would've been even sadder. Still, I now feel weird listening to them because that missed chance is on my mind (as weird as that sounds.) I don't want this regret to overshadow my love for their music. However, they meant a lot to me growing up, and while I'm not the type of person to be too bumbed my disbandments (because honestly, there are worse things in life), I'm still a bit sad that I won't see them live again. What about you?

they're already quite known lol streaming is the worst from environment standpoint bc. data-storage and infrastructure run 24/7 and not just when Becky wants to stream her katy perry classics, and there's history of services changing ownership and nuking their content libraries in what is later excused as a technical issue ( = myspace, tumblr probs next) because maintaining legacy low-usage libraries also costs money oh and also this part - I actually think Japanese market would rather invent a new physical format that will be pushed by the major labels (they already have m-card no one else is using) than lose physical media sale numbers and sales mark-ups to streaming if sony forced gamers to install 40+ gigs of bluray media before launching tha games and kept a mandatory disk-in game launch on ps4, they'll do it with music CDs once retail sales dive enough, and honestly as long as it's done sensibly I'm hft (make walkmans gr8 again etc)

    DADAROMA new look !

Yeah well that's really helpful for those who can't understand Japanese.... Specially as that's exactly what it says on their tweet, so if someone doesn't understand that not sure this is going to help.... Just saying. But anyhow, yeah, seems strange they would release new photos without anything to follow up on. But if this does somehow end up tying into the next release whenever they do announce it, I'm not really worried, personally don't mind this look and in the wave of vkei bands that go for that "edgy and juvenile" image it's hardly a shock to anyone. Haha. I actually really like this band and no matter how much their sound varies for each release they do deliver, so am not at all concerned that they'll release something whack. haha.

If you do understand how elitist and entitled that sounds, okay, to each their own I guess You do realize that they do instores to try to improve sales and bring more people to their concerts, and bonuses are there just because a regular release isn't appealing enough, right? Fighting modernity has never worked before and never will I for one am really happy bands like dimlim and dexcore are putting their releases on spotify and I can somehow support them, instead of giving them exactly 0 cents, which would be the case if I had to download their stuff. This is a weird thought. You wouldn't like everything to be on spotify, but would like for it to be readily available on itunes? So people who can't afford the asked price wouldn't be able to have the same access? If you wish to support them harder, there are a lot of ways of doing that with merch, physical copies, instead of limiting access to music. If xTRiPx released their stuff on spotify I would love it and still buy every release I could, because I want to support regardless of access, so stream would just be another form of revenue...

Many of these bandomen, unless they’re quite well established, or have enough mitsu patronage...can’t get by on music alone. Most of them have day jobs that they need to keep affording outfits and recording sessions. This will effect their availability to write new music, record and tour.

I feel like there are more albums being released in the past 5 years than there have been in the 5 years prior to that? Could just be a memory bias, but vkei albums aren't super infrequent. I think the scene in general has wisened up a bit and realized that releasing stuff c o n s t a n t l y may not be financially viable, especially with historically smaller crowds buying physical releases. A Matina-styled "demo tapes every 3 months, plus omnibus exclusive songs, plus video tapes, plus cross-cover singles, plus interviews, plus..." doesn't really work today, as cool as it would be. With the internet, oversaturation and over-promotion is a very real thing and there's less of a need to be constantly bombarding people with new products when your old ones are more widely accessible. Unless of course, you're signed to -AINS-. Then you get a 101 stop tour and are forced to release two albums a year that are 80% new content, plus some live distros to keep the children occupied in the "off months."

    Show off your Rig

It's been a while and I've made some serious upgrades. The whole rig is basically a brand new computer. Here's the porn. I updated everything in this bad boy and I can feel the difference. Trust me when I say pay the price or pay it twice, because I spent a lot of money upgrading parts one by one because the old parts were showing their age. The biggest differences for me were the following: New case! Old case I had was the last of a floor model Corsair 350D Microcenter sold to me for $7. This is much nicer, has all the screws, and more room inside for cable management. I forgot the exact model of this case, but it's a Cooler Master. 1080 is now a 1080ti. Did that before the RTX cards dropped, and honestly with the promising results of CryEngine I don't see a need to upgrade to 2080ti right now. I could if I wanted to, but one's e-peen can only have so much girth. New CPU! I have an i7-8700k in that case, to replace the i5-4690k I burnt out when the fan died. Went the extra mile and delidded the CPU to put some liquid metal inside, and that reduced the temperatures by 4 to 7 C on top of the gains from replacing the entire cooling system. CPU is overclocked to 4.8GHZ at 1.31V. It doesn't stay at 5GHZ stable, but 5GHZ is mostly an e-peen thing and there's no practical difference gained by bumping it up 200mhz. Corsair AIO to replace the jet engine that was the CPU fan. Too lazy to do a full water cooling loop. 3 case fans are Corsair LL 140s. I had a lot of passive cooling in the PC when I used air, and that residual heat aged my parts over time. With these fans in there + the AIO, my PC runs at room temperature when playing games. New desk! The old one was super tiny and limited me on what I could buy. Also limited my mouse space when playing games, which made playing competitive shooters with low sensitivity a pain in the ass. New desk means new monitor! That's an LG 34" G-SYNC 1440p 21:9 100fps ultra wide screen monitor, just in case any of my friends forgot who was the most boujee out of all of us. Games with proper 21:9 support are heaven. The screen alone cost $1500.
