The only thing DEG about them is Sho, and that’s only when he growls/squeals; his cleans are different from Kyo’s. I think for some people (including me) the hype comes from them bursting onto the scene with messy songwriting, then improving tenfold when Issei peaced out. Last summer when they dropped vanitas, shigarami, and aizou no tsuki all in a row, it was like it was a new band. I just... honestly find the DEG comparisons weird. Dimlim are more technical and definitely have their ear to the ground for what’s going on in modern metal. But then it seems like a VK band can’t have downtuned guitars and harsh vocals without dodging the comparison, so I get it.

I hope they don't. I hate music streaming and I love the concept of buying physical releases, with all the bonuses included, and attending instores. I don't want to have to pay three or four times what I'm paying for my cellphone plan just because listening to music now is sucking up my data too. Besides all that was mentioned, recording and studio time expensive and I guess smaller bands can afford more easily to start off with singles and EPs and grow from there. Newbie bands like Nazare can afford to release full albums because they record them in their drummer's bedroom.

There's also the reality that the pace is unsustainable. Putting out singles and albums that quickly leads to burn out.

So I got my copy of the single today, and to my surprise 肉腫と繁殖と不快感 is not the new song DIMLIM has been playing since March (currently known as "xxx"), but a ballad. In other words, this release is 100% clean vocals.

I'd take quality over quantity. We don't need another Mejibray.

dexcore practically launched their career with a full album uploaded on youtube for free, and dimlim literally just released chedoara last year, less than two years after their line-up settled down. I don't know what you're talking about since the tendency to release stuff as live-limited has always been in vk, and it was 2002 and onwards when everyone practically stopped releasing albums in favor of mini-albums and singles in 7 types with very rare exceptions to this rule (i.e. lynch.)

If only there was some kind of... archive of sorts, on some video upload website... hmm...

I saw Yoshiki at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen bags of potato chips in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired from recording the new X-Japan album and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bags and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to preserve the spiciness,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a thing. After she scanned each bag of chips and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

The solo saved the song to be honest. It sounds like leftover ideas from the Chedoara sessions, and as I’ve said before I’m getting a little tired of the tapping gimmick. At least go somewhere else on the guitar neck, dudes. Sudden ending with no climax is cute, but it was cuter in Grotesque. It’s fine, but last summer’s singles it is not.

It's a worldwide trend. Albums became less frequent, singles in the way japan do (before full albums) are much more common, sometimes not even being featured in albums. You can blame it on stream if you want, there are several studies noticing how spotify dictates even how songs are being produced nowadays (not that I see this happening in japan soon, as they are always stubbornly behind some trends). In a way it's good, it extends songs longevity, which lets artists focus more on delivering good content instead of always putting stuff out. And TBH, in the whole world music releases are a supplemental income to live concerts. Artists must survive with their lives, that's just the way it is after the internet. The sooner japanese bands understand that and adopt stream the way they should, the better for everyone.

And I'm %100 cool with this. I mean, I was never HUGE on certain kinds of harsh vocals to begin with, but in many cases I just find them pretty frivolous. And it's kinda like the older I get, the less inclined i am to listen to other grown-ass men impersonate the boogey man.

I'm really digging this actually. I've been into a lot of electronic and oddly structured music lately, so this fits right in. Kind of reminds me of David Bowie's Earthling, with a tad of Outside. I also hear a bit of Bungle. Especially "沙羅螺". That one is basically like "Desert Search For Techno Allah".

need a couple more listens to get used to it, but so far it's great, no matter how disjointed it might be. that solo was ridiculous. if there's any fairness in this scene, these guys along with kizu should be the next big thing and carry on others' legacies playing in big venues with big followings.
