Family planning and the lack of it

This has become a major life goal for me! I could imagine nothing more beautiful, noble, and rewarding than marrying, starting, maintaining, and nourishing a family. Kids are wonderful and they're a blessing to be sure - you can learn a lot from them. I look forward to both the challenge and the privilege of hoisting that level of responsibility onto my shoulders, and I'm excited to see the man that I'll grow to be through it.

    Hi guys~ :3

Hi guys~ Im Rica and I have been a guest on this forum for a few years, and finally decided to join the family and introduce myself. I am 19 and I'm from Hong Kong(yup, technically part of China but also not really!!). This forum is so useful and informational. I started liking Visual Kei at about 2015, youtube recommended me Kiryu's Amaterasu MV out of nowhere. And I have been in the circle since. I'm not a really active bangya, since I couldnt travel for lives; I got my friends to bought a few CD for me from Japan when they go travelling. Personally, I dont know anyone who know visual kei around me, since it is a very very niche thing in HK. I can only tell my sister and to few of my close friends. So it's great that I know there is a forum like this where I can talk about and read about things that I love. I am actually going to travel to Tokyo next week and I am super excited about it, too bad non of my favs have any lives during my stay :(. (sorry if i am too long-winded, im a bit excited). Few of my favorite bands are(in no specific order): Kiryu they got me into this whole thing, DIV heart broken when they disbanded but was predicted since their last single was uneventful to say the least, MejiBray still hasnt got excited about the 8psb thing, Clowd sad that they disbanded as well, Royz only for their music occasionally and for the kami- Subaru, Arlequin love their music and getting their songs on spotify is really appreciated, The Raid got into them recently because of kabukicho rainy, love their music and the vocalist's voice Unite. like their song style occasionally, came across them because they are in the same company as DIV Babykingdom their songs are so catchy and shogo is so cute~ (not sure if it is a guilty pleasure here)... 零[hz] here for their personalities, mainly cuz they are in BPR Kizu love love love their music I also listen to other bands based on the songs, I'm mostly into Vkei for the music to be honest. Other than vkei, also have an unexplainable love for Motely Crue, Queen, and any other songs occasionally popular to millennials these days. I am so happy to be here~ and nice to meet you guys~ guess im talking too much for an introduction post looking forward to be educated about band dramas and news, since i dont really know japanese and am very unfamiliar with fandoms.

I only just found out that they're called "Madmans Esprit" and not "Madmans Espirit". I thought an "e-spirit" was like an e-cigarette but with alcohol. Not quite sure how that'd work, but oh well. 😕 Speaking of a sharp edge, I want Sizna to lacerate me with his jawline

    ZEAL LINK Nagoya will close

I keep seeing VK stores getting the axe, magazines ceasing publication and very few bands joining spotify, putting their songs up on YouTube and stuff like that. Looks like streaming services will be the final nail in the coffin for VK as whole. Tragic, but it serves them right for always being so greedy and narrow minded in terms of business and reaching out to the fans, mostly foreigners.

    Honest opinions on K POP?

It's so tiring hearing the same rehashed opinions about k-pop being exploitative, manufactured etc. The truth of the fact is, yes there are some toxic sides to the industry, but it differs from group to group and change is happening. If people discussed say American pop music the way they do k-pop, taking every breakdown, every atrocity and using it to paint the whole industry, what an ugly picture that would be. Anyway, there's a large overlap in the things that draw me to k-pop and visual kei. Mixing music styles, theatrical concepts, interesting personalities. And there's a ton of variety , if you like me are drawn to angsty, dramatic shit, boy does k-pop provide. The part of me that enjoys visual kei is 100% the same that listened to BTS' Singularity and Tear on repeat all of last year.

    random thoughts thread

I do a monthly cull of my social media follows. Do I really care about this person? Do I feel good/earn something from looking at their posts? Most of the time people are followed on impulse or friend requests are accepted because I want to be nice. After some time I realise it's not worth it and just delete a bunch of people. It's liberating and I don't care if they get butthurt, life will move on. It can get tricky with family members, so I just mute/unfollow most of them so I don't have to see their updates.

I used to dislike K-pop w/ golden-era bands (late-2000's - early-2010's) b/c I found the songs to be really "robotic" and anthemic. The motifs that pervaded western pop + kpop like heavy autotune, techno, metallic design, heavy eyeshadow, etc. weren't really my thing. This current generation of K-Pop I find is a lot more diversified in a musical sense w/ producers + composers playing with more experimental genres/sub-genres. Now, K-Pop bands will use wonky, moombahton, tropical house, 80's, r&b, etc. influences that I really vibe with. I do enjoy 1st generation and early-2nd generation (90's + early 2000's) as well, but that's because of the generally melodic pop sound at the time. Here were some of my gateway songs (I find groups w/ artsy or androgynous concepts to be good segues from vk. Now, musically, you won't be in the same territory, obv.): Korean phonetics used to be a huge barrier for me, but after listening to enough Korean, I got used to it. I find a lot of the newer K-Pop I'm interested in heavily tied to my interest in certain EDM genres (I use "EDM" in this case as a blanket-term for all electronic music.) --- Now, I certainly haven't gotten used to the rabid, but dedicated fanbase K-pop groups have, and I don't really participate in much of the online banter + fan activities either. Over-exploitation, while obviously inexcusable, is rampant in both K-pop and J-pop (and elsewhere.) I find the J-idol exploitation a lot more sinister than K-pop (namely the "black companies" and sexual exploitation), but then again, that's just what we know of in the public sphere. I like a lot of indie J-pop and solo-artists, but I find a lot of the mainstream Japanese idol groups to be really corny/insufferable. I also find the groups to be more focused on homogeneity than individuality. I'm generalizing a bit when I say that, though. I'd say, discover music on a band-to-band basis rather than focusing on just genres (the popular bands/groups of a genre) if you really want to open yourself to different things. A certain niche band might be the first domino that catalyzes your future discoveries and interest in the larger genre. *I've been referring to K-pop in the "group"-sense, so I forgot to mention K-indie and solo acts. I feel like J-indie is a bit more diverse, but both have a similar feel. There's such a huge rift between mainstream K-pop and indie to where I treat them like separate genres. I feel like Korean media always pushes to the extreme the groups from the big labels over indie acts. (Probably because the big five play huge economic roles in SK, wheras JP labels aren't as pronounced in the economic-sense idk Avex, Sony, and Johnny's numbers tho. SK has always been kinda corporatocratic, idk if that's an appropriate way to describe it.)

Hitomi has a solo project under the name Umiyuri, Vivi (other guitarist with blond hair) is now in DEZERT under the name Miyako, Ivy (bassist) is in a band called LACK-CO, Soan (drummer) has a solo project called Soan Project, Loki (singer of Sugar) is in a band called More and I don't think Shingo (Sugar's bassist) and Atsuto (Sugar's drummer) are doing anything, but I could be wrong on some of that. I think that's all right, though.

I have a friend who loves K-Pop and we often make fun of each other. Sometimes, I would joke around and say "DIR EN GREY IS SUPERIOR AND ALL VISUAL KEI BANDS ARE BETTER THAN KPOP!!!" and she would just retaliate, all just for jokes lol. She actually despises the fandom honestly lol. As for pop, the only artists that I love that I would consider to be pop would be Panic! At The Disco (newer stuff), Taylor Swift, and LiSA. There are good pop artists out there, but it usually depends on the style of music and how it sounds.

    Honest opinions on K POP?

honestly I hate the "kpop" label and that scene in general, it's just normal pop but in Korean, I do not like pop, but some co-workers like that and I've listened to some songs and it's not bad compared to western acts is just a different language, many young people nowadays are interested in them, I don't understand the fandom but probably due to my age I heard about companies that overexploit their artists, but I think it's a common denominator of work in Korea (?), but I'm speculating (the girls in "twice" are hella cute)

Personally, having kids is the last thing I'd want. I would love to get married, but honestly, I'm extremely irresponsible and untrustworthy to have kids in the future. Don't mind being around them, but just having kids isn't on my list.

    - When I first moved to Japan, I missed a live because I mixed up 町田 (Machida) where the live was with 田町 (Tamachi). I wasn't gonna make the live in time so I said fuck it, but then I felt kinda bad because I had reserved tix with the band. (Back when you could still reserve tickets with the band off their website.) - I can't stand much of Dir en grey's music after Macabre. I couldn't care less that they dropped the visual look, just so much of their stuff after sounds like noise. I also know there are a lot of Japanese VK fans that feel the same way, though for years some of them were in denial and kept attending shows bc they had the hots for the members. - I think VK started to die with the osare kei craze and I can't stand most current "popular" VK bands. It's not that I think new VK has more shit than old VK, just that shit bands can sell better than they could before now that SNS/cheki/multiple CD types with different bonuses/etc. are more common. There's still good music coming out, it's just a lot harder to find. Before the good music was more “mainstream”. - One of the best lives I ever went to was Gargoyle playing some songs here and there in between random MCing, as they sat on stage chugging cans of beer with the audience. I'd never been to a Gargoyle show before and I don't even like beer, but honestly I wish this was a thing all bands did.
