This world is fucked beyond belief. But despite how treacherously people treat one another...and despite how poorly we even treat ourselves...to be courageous enough to even just try to do better in the face of such overwhelming bleakness, and not just fall into the mire of spiritual destitution like the rest... That's such a beautiful thing!

The people who fuck with new dezert are for the most part to me like the people who listen to deviloof and nokubura but ignore western metalcore. There is so much superior indie shit out there that this cannot come off as anything other than as flaccid mediocrity to anyone who’s familiar with the stuff. Then again knowing this board where for some people avoiding classics and canonical albums is almost like a point of pride, the wilfull ignorance doesn’t surprise me one bit.

"I'm pissed because people don't listen to what I want them to listen to and therefore are inferior and so is their music taste". Edit: Yes, I agree there is superior indie shit, but there's two factors that weight in Dezert's favor; an already existing fondness for the artist and nostalgia, both factors that usually keep most people from ditching certain music and moving on to something else.

La’veil and Crucifixion have announced on Twitter that they will be releasing two new live-distributed singles in May. Both singles will contain two songs and cost 1,000 yen. 暁鴉 (Gyoua) will be sold in Tokyo on May 11th, and 蛇影 (Hebi Kage?) will be sold on May 26th in Osaka. (Are these Naruto references?)

it's been more than one year since Yuuki (ex unsraw) released those previews, etc. My guess is that he was about to debut with his new project, but something happened in the middle of the whole process.( i could be very wrong about this) The important is that he has been posting more and more from the studio,so he still working hard. Can't wait for this, love his early 2000's kei style.

What are you listening to 2?

Neko Hacker is an interesting existence, lol. How dafuq you get features with Sithu Aye, ichika, and most recently, nanahira all in a row. Can be a bit too bubbly, but I dig it for the most part. Long live uguu-electro-pop-rock. (Second only to uguu-bossanova a.k.a music to shitpost to at 3 A.M.) Yes, it's really just "kawaii" + whatever genre ("kawaii culture" if you will.) I tend to label things that are a bit more "forceful" or transformative w/ deliberate direction to be "uguu". I feel like natural "kawaii" just exists as a byproduct (this is a really opinionated way to look at it, I realize.) Kawaii future bass + experimental rock fusion would still be the best way to describe this. TL;DR weird rant

fair fucks to anyone who goes about shouting their opinion about this and that with a sub 500 artist last.fm chart, but I do also know that they're not much farther removed from pre-school children in their opinions and ought to not be listened to. the only people triggered by a comment like this are the ones who recognise themselves as the targets of it.

I think that if I met Hiro from Nocturnal Bloodlust, I would feel very intimidated. I never even got around to listening to them, but he's always scared the living shite out of me. He might be a really nice person, and I know you can't judge a book by its cover, but the dude's a fucking unit. He could probably snap my neck with his thumb and index finger if he wanted to.

Interestingly enough, Coca Cola was one of the reasons I ended up with nodules on my vocal chords, the acidity caused it. So yeah, the health hazards of cola are vast xD

    Any old school bands?

I'm not sure if these guys are classified as VK or pseudo-VK or whatnot, but they're a jazz-rock band that may appeal to you. "really good guitar" is a bit vague for me, as I'm not super familiar with Sugar...BUT, here's one of my favorite bands called 八十八ヶ所巡礼 (88kasyo Junrei). They're not VK...but the vocalist is male Here are some of their songs that u can skim through:

    Any old school bands?

I'm a bit late, but Yui from UNiTE has kind of a high voice. Not falsetto or anything, but it's far from deep. He screams occasionally, but not too often. Yuuki from Initial'L also has a high voice. He used to be in Lycaon and the general consensus is that Lycaon was better, but I guess because Initial'L sound poppier, they may be better for totally clean vocals. Not that Yuuki ever really screamed much, anyways. Besides, I guess whether or not they're actually better is kind of subjective. Additionally, Hitomi (ex-Moran) has a soft voice and I don't recall him ever screaming. His voice isn't the highest I've ever heard, but again, it's far from deep and sounds delicate. Does anyone know of any bands with heavy jazz influences like Sugar? For instance, I had Jikkendai Marmot recommended to me not so long ago and thought they were fantastic. Also, how about bands with really good guitar? Again, like Sugar, lol.

Did the same thing a month-or-so ago at a gas station (Sheetz). It shocked me as well, considering how nondistinct the orange-vanilla flavor was from regular Coke (I feel like cola already has that tinge of vanilla.) I guess it's a blessing that the one new soda I try after several months of just water (and occasional sprite) tastes like ass.

Lord Gore - Cronenberg https://lordgore.bandcamp.com/track/entheogenocide https://lordgore.bandcamp.com/track/incubation-sickness https://lordgore.bandcamp.com/track/million-maggot-march I can't see this as being of interest to anyone on this forum, but this shit needs to be posted. Lord Gore recently got back together after having disbanded in 2006 and released a new demo. Death metal/grindcore tracks in the vein of Impetigo, Blood Freak, Mortician and so on. Just spun it and it sounds awesome. So nasty!

    Naziploitation in Visual-kei

I would bet that many people did. But like I said before, I wasn't very happy when I saw it. I didn't make a big stink of it, but I did not check Chanty out for quite some time simply because of that stunt. The first time I heard anything from Chanty was when someone put it on a mix, and then I swiped the mini and proceeded to never listen to it. I wasn't sad either when one of the members announced departure. I also refuse to review any of their material here. So these kinds of things do bother me and I do the things I can to express my displeasure, but I also realize that outside of here I have no power to change those attitudes. But that is the way Japan is! Even if there are other races in Japan, Japan has been and primarily will be Japanese. Japanese customs and culture dominates there and it goes way back, and all that history has an impact on the present. They have exposure to some parts of western culture but a lot of context is lost in translation, and that doesn't displace their culture, and race is one of those things. As a result, their culture puts less value on racial issues than ours does. It's unfortunate, and with time those attitudes can change, but right now that's the way it is. I don't like it, but I have no choice but to accept it. My country is still in the process of sorting its own racial issues out, so I'm willing to extend some patience to them in this aspect. And I think this is the most important thing you said. It means SOMETHING, and that something is definitely unsavory, but that doesn't mean we can generalize about the political and religious beliefs of an entire race of people. The same thing goes for use of nazi imagery in visual kei. I know that they know what that symbolizes, and that it is insensitive, hateful, and inflammatory. I bet some artists do it for the shock value, some are more radicalized and believe in it, and some aren't associated with it at all. Plenty of songs feature speech snippets from Hitler, Goebbels, and the like, but these clips are used in many contexts. The simple inclusion of these clips doesn't mean they are automatically neo-nazis. There was a poster in here I had to censor because they wrote several long manifestos, but between the ranting there was some lucid thoughts that do add some context to this discussion. They mentioned lyrics from several visual kei bands that could be interpreted as one or more band members having radical beliefs. Unfortunately, they did not include an English translation, so I can't verify. Can anyone find translations for the following songs so we can decide on our own? Avanchick - Jinsei Game THE GALLO - Maou -Yami Uta- D.I.D. - nihilism.
