The last album was awful, and lately, I’ve been disliking their singer’s voice, so... it’s okay. Maybe in the future we’ll get a new 2013-DEZERT copy band with a vocalist who can actually sing.

Another chapter has been written and filed away into the ever growing library of visual kei history, so we resume our customary annual review of all of the great albums that saw the light of day in 2018. Unlike previous years, we elected to wait until the middle of January so the stragglers of the year had their fair chance to weigh in. This list is also not in any specific order, although DIMLIM's CHEDOARA deserves a mention for getting the most votes internally and therefore kicks the list off with a bang. Even in our most challenging years, there's always something fresh and new around the corner waiting to be discovered. Like always, this isn't an exhaustive list and plenty of the hidden gems slip through the cracks, so if you have anything to add to the list tack it on at the end so the entire community can find something new to enjoy. *LONG RANT* So I was on the bus earlier and I was listening to a quiet song. I overheard someone near me shouting about how her daughter wasn't allowed to watch Power Rangers for some reason, so I took one earphone out and proceeded to eavesdrop. Then, a loud song that I really like came on, so I thought "nah, I'm not gonna listen to this with just one earphone", so I paused it, skipped back to the start, then kept the one earphone in and looked distant so it looked like I wasn't eavesdropping. Anyways, this is the exchange that I heard: Woman (shouting at someone else): My daughter is not allowed to watch Power Rangers! If she sees Power Rangers on TV, she wants to be a Power Ranger! *turns to daughter to shout at her as well* What do you watch on TV? Daughter: Power Rangers. Woman (still bloody shouting as if the entire bus couldn't already hear her): No, you do not, you watch CBeebies! *turns back to other person* And that's all she watches. Either that, or horses, because she rides horses. Oh. My. KAMI-SAMA. This girl was, like, four or five years old and she's not even allowed to watch Power Rangers because her bitchy mother doesn't want her having an active imagination! I'm eighteen and I wouldn't mind being a fucking Power Ranger. Controlling parenting is my ultimate berserk button; I hope that little girl gives her mother hell when she grows up. I had to stop myself from getting involved. I think one of the only reasons I didn't was because I was nearly at my stop.

The band have just announced that a new guitarist called 星樹(Seiju) will join the band on 2019.02.20.

I noticed a shift between Phoenix Rising and Pantheon, but by that time Anzi was gone. It seems he had disagreements in terms of music direction and other things with the other members for a while and it had showed for a while. The songwritin, iirc, had been mostly divided between Sono, Ayame and Anzi, with the latter gone I can only assume they took the approach they had been trying for a while. It seens JaY has already started to collaborate, he used to play in Lightbringer before, so there's that🤔 Pantheon 1 and 2 were conceptual releases. Let's see if the new album follows that trend or goes in another direction.

I felt exactly the same way.... Savage... Marblehead and now Damy.... the only ones I love and didn't announce disbandment (yet) are Dadaroma, Mamireta... idk what's going on with Scapegoat...

The album "TABOO" was released in 1989, exactly 30 years ago today (18th January)! One of the most excellent old-school J-rock albums imo with many great highlights such as ICONOCLASM, ANGELIC CONVERSATION or JUST ONE MORE KISS. My favorites are TOKYO and FEAST OF DEMORALIZATION tho (the latter being one of only two songs whose lyrics Toll wrote in B-T history!). What are your faves from the album?

The single letter ones are bad no matter if it's a band name or a member's stage name. There's way too many K's out there.

I know it's short for "negative", but Nega is really awkward to mention to someone if you speak portuguese. It's a corruption of "negra" which is feminine for "black" so it has some unintentionally racist undertones (it can be used as an endearing term though, there's even a famous song named after it).

I can understand questions regarding the appeal of this band, because to be honest they really didn't appeal to me much until around Toxic. By the time of Beautiful Deformity I came to see that they're actually a decent band with some good ideas and a desire to keep pushing their music in new directions. I'm still not on board with everything they do (the really early stuff is so sloppy and limited compared to their later material, while Dogma didn't grab me a great deal), but now I consider them one of my favourites. Really enjoyed Ninth. Having said that, I'll shed no tears if they announce that the drummer isn't going to be writing any more songs... But that's just me ;)

YEEEEESSSSS. Everyone can see how garbage/all over the place my taste in music for the year is. For Decameron, Aura, and Dream, the generator used one of the many other artists that share those band names. So I crappily photoshopped the proper band that I listen to of those names. Also, I guess I haven't corrected my tags because S/mileage appears twice on the list. XD
