You're welcome! They have lot of additional information that you only know if you go to instores/read interviews, so I try to share it as much as I can to the fans who doesn't have access to that or don't speak japanese. It makes the band way more enjoyable

Keeping the memory of this band alive. People on this board and elsewhere definitely like worse shit so I'd call them underrated. Totally unique sound, even when they were doing "fillers." Tzk's and MiA's interplay is something that happened once and will never happen again. Tzk's lyrics too are so particular to him even in translation

It's alright; pretty nondescript and formulaic. A+ to whomever at double river suggested that they should have 1 guy ghostwrite for 2 bands at once.

Thank you for the additional information. I guessed there had to be something about those ages, but it makes sense now. You can just feel it, but my Japanese isn’t good enough to fully understand, so thank you 😁

Woah, the last live set list is actually pretty good ! Obviously because it is mostly old songs. I hope they release the DVD with the actual full length performance of the last live and not the one before that.

I know right! That gives a lot of meaning to the words "Maybe I've thrown away my life once, but I was saved by music and managed to survive" before singing that song. I love how he write songs about the ages that "marked" him. Juugo is about when his classmate passed away, and he started to question God when he was 15. I hope he write more "age" songs 😮

I've been obsessed with 呪縛郷 from La'veil MizeriA lately, although if they want to do like old bands they should shoot in run-down buildings and forests. Those sets where all bands film are getti tired angnd contribute to no dramatism.
  32. 1 point
thank you! now the kizu concept makes even more sense. of course what happened to him is awful, but it's nice to understand that the whole "we want to save people" idea is not some fake shit.

I showed Dir's "Cage" to a friend to isn't remotely aware of VK or even J-rock, and he said "Wow, this sounds like Iron Maiden". VK always sounded very unique to my ear. But in the last year, since I was not very fond of the (Western) classics of punk, grunge, gothic, metal, and their respective subgenres and "post" scenes, although I always knew that theorically VK made itself over Western artist, the gap between VK and Western artists came up as much shorter than I tought, with only few elements of it (musical, visual, lyrical, performatic) keeping actually "unique". In the case of "Cage", since I haven't heard much from Iron Maiden, what can you say about what my friend said? Are you agree with him?

I wish Discogs let people mute certain sellers notifications (I'm looking at you scalper putting the same stuff on again and again spamming my alerts with your 10x overpriced stuff).

I'm just gonna also point out for many of my friends that fit the narrative of jumping from J-rock to K-pop, and not just J-pop itself... I can tell you the number 1 reason was accessibility. Japan labels started closing many inroads to the west, region blocking their channels, having all the fan videos deleted, and making it very hard to buy stateside unless you went to a type of convention. Where when the "boom" of interest happened that wasn't the case. And also.. the price. K-pop is DRASTICALLY cheaper to collect. So in a way, yes it fills their need for ~exotic Asian musics~ because it's still fun and brightly colored without being so time consuming and wallet draining. I won't even go into the difference in fandom cultures here. But I don't think a lot of J-music fans see it from the other side and how much Japan intentionally shut out a lot of the more casual western fans.

Yeah, Moi Dix Mois is pretty much 'Programmed Harpsichords Non-Stop: The Band'. Not sure whether they had an influence on these newer bands tho.

    The Vkei "Harpsichord" sounds Trend

Harpsichords have been somewhat of a thing in Visual Kei since the origin of TanbiKei (Vkei bands that have European themes like Malice Mizer or Versailles). Malice Mizer was pretty well known for using harpsichords and other European instruments in order to fit with their Baroque theme (GackT era) or Victorian theme (Klaha era). I wouldn't say it's a trend but more of a recurring theme that pops up every so often, since lots of bands today are still heavilly inspired by Malice Mizer, Versailles, Lareine, Moi dix Mois, etc. My favourite example would be it's use in Vasalla's Yurikago. However, the band most notable for Harpsichords is Moi dix Mois. Almost every song they make uses an organ, orchestra, or harpsichord.

so does it become a "reveal" or an "unboxing"?
  44. 1 point
Let me guess, this is gonna be another 'mystery band' trying to drum up hype while having totally unknown members, who are gonna end up dropping a '0th' release and vanish into the great beyond within the scope of 2 years tops

@darkindastad "It was fun. But there are still things that I have to do, my duty, my mission. Maybe I've thrown away my life once, but I was saved by music and managed to survive. Thats why, I don't know if I will be able to sing for the rest of the limited days I have, but thinking that I want to save people with music, I was able to go on till today. I really mean it. I'm glad that I'm alive from the bottom of my heart, but please, let me keep singing"

The VIP-members can pre-order the CD until 2019.01.10. The album will have 8 songs. (Limited edition : 6400 yen; regular edition : 3000 yen) Apparently, they tried to experiment by implementing jazz, classic, violins, pianos etc.

Aside from the Pokemon Red & Blue visuals, I do like the joint concept + them covering the same song. Still not crazy about them, but they could improve along the way.
