btw the server outage initially sparked a bunch of rumors that someone had gotten arrested for libel or something from the wota/youtube side of tanuki (which a lot of gya/band tanuki doesn't know exists and vice versa). of course the minute it was back there was a thread for exposing people who expressed joy about its demise on twitter lmao

    Dir en grey

It’s from the Mode of Withering to death tour. It’s almost like he’s emulating his shitty live vocals from that era.

PINOCCHIO may be one of my favorite songs all year–It's been on repeat for like, a week. It's got that MBHI sound to it and so many interesting parts.

I have meet&greet (VIP) and photo tickets for his September Paris concert! So excited!! I will give him a hug, and a letter in Japanese (translated by a friend), and as a gift together with the letter a CD with LAREINE covers by me. I'll also show him my Laliene 1st demo tape, he'll be really surprised!

    General KPOP Thread

I already liked Pristin but this Pristin V track is even more my style. I would not be mad to get a full release from this sub unit!! I was really surprised by the Yubin track, I expected her to break from the retro vibe and go more hip hop but this is fun! I've had the new Shinee stuck in my head. It's still so weird without Jonghyun but this song is great.

    RAZOR new single, "BRILLIANT" release

Pinocchio should have been the title track, but it's not bad. Pinocchio sounds like a MBHI song.

Neofolk, martial industrial und so weiter

Neofolk, martial industrial and the other off-shots/sub-genres are music I've enjoyed for quite a few years, but it's only over the past two-three years that I've really gone into the depth of the genre that is neofolk and its sub-genres and gotten very much into full albums, rather than a song here and a song there like before. It's a genre which has spawned so many bands over the years and like all genres that are "easy" to make, record and release, it's filled with a ton of godawful bands. But you also got stuff like Darkwood, Sol Invictus, Blood Axis, Death in June, Current 93, Nature And Organisation, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and so on that's released a shitload of good music. A genre I've really come to appreciate as I've grown older. A few catchy tracks to get you new lot into these beautiful genres. I know there's at least a few others who are into this type of music here, so please discuss.

I hope まみれた(Mamireta) sticks around for a long time. They have a lot of potential imo. Rarely do I say that about new bands like this.

    the GazettE

they're dragging Dir en grey and lesser acts like mucc or 12012 who drop glamoured up looks and start balding hardcore only to invest in weaves and mascara again once their sales nosedive.

This is a far cry from when he cosplayed as David Sylvian and released an album with some depth, longevity and timelessness like he did with Roentgen. I can listen to that album today and somehow it doesn't feel dated. I can't say the same about much of his recent output with Vamps and now this track. With Who's gonna save us, it sounds very much like pop music these days where the track was shopped around by a producer first before landing a home. If you removed Hyde from the mix, would you listen/appreciate the music the same way?

    the GazettE

I don't agree with this statement one bit and i'm under the assumption it comes from the fact that maybe the scene has gotten TOO used to side projects lately. Doing side projects shouldn't be used as a cop out, ESPECIALLY to a reoccurring problem. Its dismissive in this case, especially since we have clear evidence that its effected one of the members negatively.

PUNCH RECORD is a sub-label of Forum (owned by Misa of Babylon, D'avid, etc) and that also houses what Mejibray was signed to (Whiteside Group, iirc). Their bandmates are KRAD and Devil Kitty (although, DK hasn't actually done anything since their last single got canceled in August...but their merch is listed through PR's site).

5 Things I Hate About VK

But...the internet. You don't have to sell CDs to sell music anymore. It's a false equivalence in the age of gigabit internet. In my opinion, blaming overseas fans for poor sales is a straw man argument. Plenty of non-visual indie acts from all over the world produce music on a dime and manage to sell it to anyone interested. In fact, most of these bands do the legwork with constant online promotion in order to get the word out, and promotion via word of mouth is free. We do it all the time on their behalf. We have YouTube, we have iTunes, we have SoundCloud, we have OTOTOY, we have Bandcamp, we have official home pages, and we have countless other services which provide instant international exposure for a minimal price. At what point does it transition from "music is expensive to make" to "fuck you foreigners, you don't get to hear these particular songs"? Because honestly, that's what this whole live-distributed music has transformed into from the perspective of someone who is never going to take a trip to Japan. Also, there's a big, BIG difference between a live distributed release that functions as a preview and a live distributed release that functions as a present. One of them might end up on a future release available for international purchase. The other disappears into the sands of time. Limited live-distributed releases in particular are a form of ass cancer that needs to go terminal and die. That's intentionally spending money and limiting your exposure for no appreciable gain. If you have money for wigs and photo shoots but not enough money to record music, you're doing the whole visual kei band thing wrong.
