As someone who has both hosted and participated in the majority of the trade-offs here, I think that's a bit of an overstatement. There definitely is an issue with certain users not submitting reviews, but I'd argue that those users exist within an extreme minority and are the exception, not the norm. The majority of participants usually do submit their reviews, even if they're late. For the small percentage of users that don't follow through, we've enacted a blacklist (though I admit that we need to be stricter about enforcing that). Using the current anime trade-off as an example is not a good idea. I specifically altered the rules for this trade-off, making things much more involved than they usually are. So I went into this expecting that many users would not make the deadlines. And it's ok if they're late, as long as they follow through within a reasonable time frame. Furthermore, you can't use the dates like that either because there are specific variables that have not been taken into account. For instance, the review deadline was the 25th, but the deadline for sending out mixes was on the 18th - which is only one week apart. Some users did not send out their mixes until after the 18th, so the members that received their mix late had even less than a week to write their review (if they wanted to fulfill the technical deadline). So when you take those factors into account, you realize that no one has had a month to write their review, because they haven't even had their mix that long. Indeed, life is busy for most of us, so we do try to give a bit of leeway with these things. Because at the end of the day, this is just for fun - it shouldn't be a chore. However, you are absolutely correct to say that people should know what to expect when they sign up for these trade-offs. If you can't fulfill the commitments, then don't sign up.

The levels of pretentiousness certainly are there. But this just doesn't give me "music project" vibes. Honestly seems like a perfume advert. At the most I can see this as a performance art project lol

Same, like they all always look nice and then there's Ricko who either looks cute as fuck or like he just sacrificed a goat to satan. I am madly in love with the new look. Everyone's.

EDIT The meaning of their twitter message is kinda like this; Today on March 7th we decided to fire Dr. Ichinose. We will explain the reason why. Firstly, Ichinen told us on the morning of March 2nd, that he might would have acute gastritis because of stress and that he was at the hospital for a check up. When I asked him later that day for more details about his medical condition to negotiate the cancellation, he told us that he couldn't perform because there was a chance of a virus infection. From that moment there was no contact with him again and he didn't show up at the in-store event on the 4th, without any notice or our permission. Thereafter, he did send us a receipt of the hospital to which he was consulted on March 2nd. However there was some strange point, when we asked him again to confirm all facts again, he didn't gave any good answer and he blocked us from contacting him. Because of this we as a band decided to fire him from the band because he cancelled 2 live appearances out of nothing and when we asked him about it he acted as a [bad] guy. Future lives will be go on as planned together with a support drummer, so please continue to support us. Also we apologize again for this incident, not only to our fans, but also to everyone involved, to which he/we caused tremendous inconvenience and worried concert. REGENE will continue as a 4 member band, so please continue to give your support to us. Original Japanese

I'd probably be happy with anything, but Mei with shamisen and some good bass weaved in...yes please. Even though I prefer 便所 2 just by a hair, I'd love to hear something like the first again. I'd shell out even for just one more amazing track, not gonna give up hope that it's a permanent end yet though.

    Piracy's role in visual kei

If you've been in the scene for a while, you've no doubt formed your opinions about piracy in the scene. For better or worse, free music has become the cornerstone upon which Monochrome Heaven - and to a larger extent, the scene - has been built upon. It's worked for a decade, and possibly even before that in less organized terms. For as long as I can remember, piracy was seen as a "necessary evil" to build up the scene and to keep it going, and that was the consensus everyone in the scene came to. But times are changing, and with that perhaps the attitudes of the scene are changing as well. A vocal minority of fans and band members are calling for all fans to put more money into the scene and to support their favorite bands with money. Here's an excerpt from a recent Facebook post that's gone viral within the scene. Many people agreed with this person. I want to understand how people here feel about this same topic. Serious replies only, and if you respond please vote in as many of the questions as you can. I will liberally delete any post that I interpret as attacking another member or otherwise not contributing to the discussion. NOTE: This topic doesn't mean that the staff is planning on doing something. We are simply curious and have been discussing this among ourselves for a day or two. NOTE 2: This topic will automatically close in two weeks on March 16th. If you have thoughts, try to share them before then.

anything is better than continuing with Mia and Meto I like the calm voice of tsuzuku. If it was something like that, for me, they can bury Mejibray forever.

All of Saki's bands (Cuartet, Ivys, The actless theatre, definitely Outrage as that lasted like only 6 months? Hell, even Kar+te=zyanose) Raddock Geno Curse/Mareli Missalina Rei Gill'e Cadith, although they weren't THAT short lived. And Daisuke to Kuro Injatachi... yeah that's probably the saddest example

tl;dr Dr.壱弐参 (ichinisan) has been fired from the band on March 7 due to his absence from the band's lives. It also says something about him being in the hospital for a condition, but from what I'm getting from the translation is that he was making excuses or smth...of course I could be wrong.

    1. 2. OMG thank you so much that's one of MY sadie songs down as not diru affiliated, ewww i need to bleach my ears after that. But you might want to call for back up cause this is what you gave me for deathopia's instrumental Diru was metalcore when sadie was melodic, also there was now slamming in diru instead those dumb nu or crunch riffs. Vocally Mao had a pattern to his harsh switch up the harsh and complex flow while kyo blow cold farts out his mouth str8 through the verse. Also Mao has a clean singing verse. You'd have better luck convising me Megaromania's Quinset voyage was coping that trash. 3. I'm not going to wave the flag for you, you did it. You Specifically Mentioned cold blood and my baby Black diamonds. As for MDM i think it does sound like garbage so i guess yes like diru. But i remember someone on edohsama saying it was only one track that was super diru (i think @Elazmus) so honestly i have my doubts cause diru is his fav and i find him generally creditable. herd something similar before. Don't worry about me i'm fine

Yeah, Mei with more traditional instruments would be fucking amazing. He should channel more of the early 2000's Vkei influences we've been seeing in Kuroyuri's recent content. The "whine vocals" he sometimes does really reminds me of Daisuke from Kagerou, and the speaking in the song Hakkyou no Karte remind me of what Karuna from Gill'e Cadith would do.

    Piracy's role in visual kei

The vkei facebook groups are full of white knights who feel they are above piracy from a moral standpoint, and listen to their music through YouTube while completely disregarding the irony that the vast majority of vkei on that platform in fact comes from piracy (and to add on another level of irony, said music most likely stems from this board). I have a lot of thoughts on the subject that I'm having trouble putting together, but most of it boils down to "Westerners don't buy CDs + can't go to a gig in Japan, and the Japanese don't like streaming + have no interest in playing here, so unless one side gives no one is going to be happy." That being said, vkei has a lot of novelty tax associated with it because no one actually buys it, so they're trying to make as much money off of each sale as they can. Pressing 400,000 copies of a U2 album is probably a lot more cost efficient for everyone involved than pressing 100 copies of the next Datura single. I also get that music isn't free, it costs money to produce it, you're being entitled, Ayn Rand was a good writer, etc etc etc but for as much as people come across as entitled, the counter argument is hard to not interpret as rabid gate-keeping. As an aside, here is an article a friend shared on facebook regarding Streaming: https://pitchfork.com/features/oped/how-to-be-a-responsible-music-fan-in-the-age-of-streaming/ Basically, streaming doesn't yield a lot of money to bands either, and the author's proposed resolution is pretty interesting.
