You are solely responsible for the situation that occured. You constantly try to bait other members into arguments by making unsubstantiated "edgy"/inflammatory claims and then when someone calls you out on argumentative fallacies whenever you try to tread beyond the purely subjective, you either create straw men to fight against or whine about the "tone" in the discussion, a tone you very much set the standard for when needlessly attacking other members on their subjective taste, like or dislike of a certain song. Not only do you monopolize threads and antagonize people who don't agree with you, when you're done digging your own grave you have the nerve to call me out for not throwing you a rope and dragging you out of it. There's a reason why the reply got so many likes, perhaps you should reflect on your own actions on this forum a bit and how you present yourself here. Making a new account isn't much use when you keep falling back into the same patterns. Finally, don't tell me how I should and shouldn't do my job. The team keeps an eye on all threads and we don't take kindly to being told by others what actions to take. If you have a problem, use the report function or PM one of us. -

Can people just like what they like instead of trying to call each other out with faux-musical knowledge and passive aggressive statements deriding the musical taste of another? It doesn't matter if one person likes "The Inferno" and the other person does not. We're not all going to like the same things! That's fine! Dir en grey has been around for twenty years and if they retread some old steps or make some songs you aren't going to like, you can live with it. And don't call out mods to "do their jobs" when we're watching this thread constantly for the actions of three of you. Just because we don't say anything to you doesn't mean we aren't aware. Don't dig yourself a hole you can't climb out of. -

4 pointsEasy with the inferiority complex, sweetie, you’re embarrassing yourself. I never said my statements triggered people. Let’s not forget: you started pissing and moaning because one person on the internet said they liked a song. Just one problem: you decided to weigh your opinion on a topic which you have 0 knowledge of, so I had to correct you. You legit thought the Gaika and Inferno outros were the same when they have 0 similarities other than the fact musical notes are being played in 4/4 time. You only said this because Dir en greys new material triggers you, so you tried to pretend you knew shit to slap down other people that like the music. But again, it’s hard to discuss music with someone that has 0 knowledge of music and who couldn’t tell the difference between a C major chord and their own asshole. I know why you lashed out at me. It’s painfully obvious. Within music communities (especially VK), an individuals perceived status is linked to how much they know about the band. You wanted to fit in and impress people with your supposed “knowledge”, so you legitimately got upset when I drew that “knowledge” into question. Simply put: I hurt your ego, and you lashed out in an attempt to protect it. I find it odd you would liken me to a child when I’m not the one who started crying when someone else said they liked a song that I didn’t. But of course, your fragile ego needs protecting, so believe whatever nonsense you’d like: not like that hasn’t stopped you before, now has it? 🤔

It’s up there, and probably the first song I’d use to introduce the band to someone. It’s their entire career condensed into one song. An abridged Arche, I guess. -

Kyo’s voice is good; but it’s the instrumentation that does it for me. And is that troll really posting with a different account now? lmao, how embarrassing.

1 pointGood evening everyone! As I've mentioned before, Zilch were my gateway into visual kei and Japanese rock and general, so I wanted to start a thread about them and get some discussion the 3.2.1. album. I'm no fan of Skyjin, not just because it's a poor album but also because it was (IMO) a blatant attempt (orchestrated by Ray McVeigh) to cash in on hide's fame and his death. That's why original bassist Paul Raven wasn't involved. He was invited, but rejected any possibility of playing again as Zilch without hide. Obviously Zilch was hide's plan to create an English-language band but also a more industrial rock-inclined one than his solo works. Picking Paul Raven as bass player was an ideal choice, not just for his aggressive playing style but also for his background, including British post-punk legends Killing Joke and industrial metal favourites Prong (later on he would play and record with several other legendary bands, including Ministry, Godflesh and Treponem Pal). Danzig drummer Joey Castillo has since become a major figure, playing with Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and Nine Inch Nails. Rhythm guitarist Ray McVeigh's claim to fame was briefly playing in a band with two members of the Sex Pistols called The Professionals, but has attracted little other fame or success that hasn't resulted from his association with hide. One of the main contentions levelled at 3.2.1. is that it relies heavily on English versions of previously released material, but the issue isn't quite as clear as that. Although it wasn't released until July 1998, the album was recorded in 1996. When I talked to him about the album, Raven told me that despite hide's desire to release material and tour in the US, their attempts to find a North American record label were completely unsuccessful: hide had no 'name value' in America and his vocals were considered too bizarre and incomprehensible. Anyway. Out of the 12 tracks on the album, 5 have appeared in a different form: Inside the Pervert Mound (a.k.a. Leatherface), Swampsnake, What's Up Mr. Jones? (a.k.a. Drain), Doubt and Pose. We can leave aside the cover version of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band's Swampsnake obviously What's Up Mr. Jones? previously appeared as Drain on X-Japan's final album Dahlia, released in 1996. According to Wikipedia, that album was recorded between July '93 and July '96, so it's possible it was written at roughly the same time as the Zilch material, which would make it seem less of a rehashed old track. However, it could also have been written years before, so that's impossible to determine without further evidence. Inside the Pervert Mound would later appear in a reworked, Japanese-language version on hide's final album Ja, Zoo, eventually released four months after the 3.2.1. album. According to Raven, he was present at the writing session when the track was developed as a new song, it's title inspired by a Killing Joke song Raven appeared on, called Inside the Termite Mound (other Killing Joke connections can be found: KJ singer Jaz and guitarist Geordie both appear on Fuctrack6; Psyche is also the title of a famous KJ song; guest drummer Chris Vrenna has also played with them, meaning that one entire lineup of KJ appear on the album!). If Raven is correct, then Inside the Termite Mound is almost certainly a Zlich track that was later reworked for Ja, Zoo. Given that hide was under pressure to complete that album, this is not impossible. Pose was first released on hide's second album Psyence, released in September 1996. This timing places it close to the writing and recording of the Zlich album. It's possible therefore that it was conceived in two versions, a more industrial rock version for 3.2.1. and a more expanded, electro-influenced one for Psyence. The Zilch version has a simpler structure that appears to have been added to and built upon for the Psyence version, which could indicate the solo version is essentially a remix of a Zilch original. This is only one possible interpretation however. We do know that Zilch were involved in the Psyence sessions. They're credited with backing vocals on the song Bacteria. A PV for this song was prepared (although it wasn't released as a single), but as we can see here, it's not Spread Beaver or the musicians credited on Psyence performing the song with hide, it's Raven, McVeigh and Castillo of Zilch: This video has been titled as a Zilch track, but Bacteria was only ever released as a hide song. And finally, since it was first released in a Japanese-language form as a b-side (to the 50% & 50% single) in 1993, Doubt is the only song we can firmly date to before the Zilch era. I think the rather long-winding point I'm trying to make is that not necessarily all of the Zilch tracks are simply reworked versions of Japanese originals, and that the dividing line between solo hide and Zilch is a lot more blurred and 'shades of grey' that you might think. It will always be a favourite album for me regardless, but I thought it was worth doing some research into the issues surrounded its production. Thank you for your time and patience, and I'd love to hear what anyone has to say about both band and album. Much appreciated!

1 pointI’m almost certain the band didn’t approach the “origins” concept with the intentions of retreading old songs. If anything it’s more like they used their entire discography as an inspiration. You could probably place each song on Arche on a past album and have them fit. And the reason I think that is because during the Mode of lives they chose specific Arche songs to place in each set list. Which reminds me, does anyone know if they played Cause of Fickleness during the Mode of Withering to Death tour?

Why is it that you insist on someone getting triggered over your statements? Were I passive aggressive for questioning your negative attitude towards people not really giving a damn about bazillion dorky-titled subgenres? You seem to love it so much to the point where you are eager invent some petty strawmen and even pettier claims that you "corrected" something as if you were some kind of Allmusic-tier critic authority knowing DEG or genres they play to the very core. Here, a stock representation of your forum self: @WhirlingBlackit might be your job to finish this shitfest instead of liking posts and letting this thread sink into Fukkatsu cesspool. Now to the topic: Maybe, maybe not. The band did not disclose what exactly they meant by "Origins" per Arche's meaning so we are free to speculate anything we want, no? People would for instance recall "Disabled Complexes" or "Toguro" when listening to "Phenomenon", which might have been plausible sources of inspiration during their songwriting process. Or "Tousei" being the "Kodou" of the album. Some throwbacks succeeded, some could not hold a candle to their possible sources of inspiration, was what I tried to say. "The Inferno" being the example of the latter, in case someone missed the point. Diru can do much better than that. I really wish the band would retell the songwriting process of each ARCHE song one day like they did with TMOAB, but that would not happen since they have to keep their mystery band cred intact. -

Yeah I kind of had the same problem at one point in my life with a person I used to think was my best friend but, in the end I was the only one who tried and after I stopped trying I was questioned and then thrown away like one of those gums after you chew them too much XD. That helped me learn how to cut out toxic people and just all together know what's best for me. So, I guess experiences like this are good if you pick out the positive things and the lessons from them. If you need positive reinforcement or dad jokes or roasting people, my inbox is open any time ✨. Good luck with everything you are doing ☺️! -

For meditation there's lots of different types but they all centre around the same thing. Just pick a type and google a tutorial for the type that catches your interest. It's not complicated you just have to remember the general idea is to clear your mind of thoughts. https://visualmeditation.co/7-types-of-meditation/ As for kaizen its a really simple philosophy the key being when starting a project start embarrassingly small. ie if you wanted to start going to the gym, instead of buying a gym membership the first day you would do literally one rep with a dumbbell. This is a good video too: -

1 pointVery fucking good album, it's really a pity hide had to pass when he did. I feel like this project could've had some real potential if they'd stuck around for longer. I remember 3. 2. 1. being one of the first jrock-related albums I REALLY got into back when I first started listening to Japanese music, and I think it might be one of my most-played albums of all time, actually. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I personally even prefer it to a large percentage of X Japan's output. Never knew the album was so connected to Killing Joke tho, that's pretty damn cool. Also, I always felt like Fucktrack6 was partially a reworking of hide's Frozen Bug, there's SOME similar parts, anyways

1 pointWhich legitimately no one said. I don’t know why The Inferno, or new Dir en grey material in general, triggers you as much as it does. It literally set you off into being a passive aggressive asshole out of nowhere when I commented on how much I enjoy the song. I get it, you’re upset I corrected you in our conversation a few days ago and this was your chance to get back at me, but please try to act less petty, ESPECIALLY when you evidently don’t know a single thing about music and the only term you remotely know is “motif” to make up for your lack of musical vocabulary.

1 pointNow we’re at the crux of the issue. Not only are you musically ignorant, you also don’t like the direction the band has gone (*cough* metal *cough*). Which is fine, you don’t have to like the direction Dir en grey has gone musically; but when you make arguments out of ignorance to inflate the importance of your half-baked opinion, it warrants correction. Just keep that in mind. Also, please keep your silly American politics out of this thread, thanks.
-
1 pointWho said Dir en grey's musical style being predominantly metal was "carved in stone"? I get the point you're trying to make; but let's stop pretending Dir en grey are not a 'metal' band when over 80% of their catalog is classified as 'metal'. Ah yes, the "true metal" argument. This is one of those arguments people slap around when they evidently know very little of the style of music being discussed (see: your comments on "Djent"). It's an abstract non-argument where you're not actually saying anything despite the fact you're stringing sentences together. Please, define for us "true metal" and how that is distinguished from a band like Dir en grey who are apparently not "true metal". I don't recall ever specifically defining Dir en grey as "progressive metal", whom are you quoting? No offense; but it's difficult to discuss music with people who are unable to distinguish between guitars chugging in C# (Gaika) and an A minor/diminished half-step riff (you, know, a staple within the 'extreme metal' style) built on two guitar harmonies outlining a i-v (A, E) chord progression and a tri-tone. Not only are they different harmonically, they're entirely different in how they're introduced in the song. Saying Dir en grey "aped" the outro to Gaika demonstrates clear ignorance of music and musical form.
