桜樹 和哉 announced on Twitter that he will be releasing his first solo album, "レトロフューチャー (RETRO FUTURE)," on April 18th. It will contain his previous 3 singles (不落のジェリー, 杞憂の暁, and カランコエ), with a total of 12 songs altogether. Further details are still to be announced.

Tbh, I would have preferred 2 discs of 'shot in one take' songs rather than this bloated 3-disc package of remasters and virtually pointless remakes. All they'd have to do is get all their live crap in a room and just play the songs through (perhaps over a few days so they stay fresh). That would be the best celebration of their material, as it would represent the culmination of the band living and breathing the songs over 20 years. They could even have set up a few cameras in the room and filmed the entire performance for an easy Blu-Ray/DVD that we'd actually enjoy. Check out Chain Repulsion (Shot In One Take) and imagine if they did something similar with stuff from VULGAR, Kisou, MACABRE, etc. No idea what they were thinking with this album. Should've been called POS rather than VOS.

MiA (MEJIBRAY) and SUGIZO are now confirmed as guest musicians participating in Asagi's album.

- Everything (other than the re-recordings) was remastered, but VULGAR/Wtd. aside, the differences are very subtle. - Using the single version of 脈 before 理由 was kind of strange, they should have just used the album version. Child prey is the album version, not single version - Disc 3 is problematic; only a handful of the songs are terrible, but only less than half I would have voted to include on a best-of album On Disc 1, 太陽の蒼 and ain't afraid to die could have just been replaced by MACABRE (the song), and if there was still room on the CD, add in the original 羅刹国. My problem with Disc 2 is that they tried to cram in songs from 4 different albums. What I think they should have done is use that disc for just VULGAR/Wtd./MARROW, and put UROBOROS tracks on Disc 3. I made alternative tracklists for each disc, and here's what I picked for Disc 3: I refuse to believe that anyone voted for utafumi, OBSCURE 2011, or Sustain the untruth.

I mean, really, a majority of this thing is the result of fans voting. There isn’t much to angry at the band about. Besides, let’s not act like we all haven’t made our own best of albums already.

Cool. I'll throw in a few amazing metal releases from that year then. Sigh - Hangman's Hymn - Musikalische Exequien After years and years of different types of experimentation Sigh toned it down quite a lot for 2007's Hangman's Hymn, making it their most accessible and easy-listening album since their debut, Scorn Defeat. That however doesn't mean it's not original, because it truly is and you will not find a single album out there that sounds anything like this. The closest you'll come is Sigh's own Scenes from Hell from 2010, the follow-up to this. But even that is very different sounding. Anyway, I mentioned Scorn Defeat and they bear even more similarities than just being their most straight-forward albums. They are also the two albums in the discography in which Mirai and his men showcase their influence a lot more than they've done inbetween the two mentioned albums and after Hangman's Hymn. The tracks are short and furious, but they remain grand symphonic and epic throughout. Riff-vise it's full-on violent, furious and chaotic thrash metal inspired by German thrash like early Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Exumer and more, undearneath symphonic arrangements and choirs inspired by Mozart, Verdi, tivolis and more. A very interesting detail about this album is how Mirai (band's main composer) re-uses certain themes throughout the album, sometime even in several different tracks. It works really well and is a sweet detail. I am a bit of a fanboy so you should probably take this with a grain of salt, but it's a perfect album and an absolute masterpiece. The clear winner of 2007 no matter country, genre or anything. Sigh - Me-Devil Arkha Sva - Gloria Satanae Arkha Sva formed in 1996 but didn't get their first demo out until 2005 and their debut album in 2007, which to this date remains their only full-lenght. Arkha Sva plays black metal inspired by the early french scene (Les Légions Noires), the early norwegian scene and probably the finnish scene. The riffs and melodies sounds melancholic and tragic, topped with both grim vocals as well as a shitload of singing in the form of falsettos, which really helps set this band apart from others. The music is more than good enough by itself, but the clean singing just sends it to a whole other level. Makes it stand out from a over-crowded scene where the majority are mediocre clones and rip-offs. A very cool detail is the use of the classic Les Légions Noires calligraphy with permission given by L.N.N. member M.T. Vordb Dréagvor Uèzréèvb (Belkètre, Moëvöt, Torgeist). For those unaware, L.L.N. was a french black metal collective formed in the early 90's by a bunch of black metal/dark ambient fans/musicians who created about a million bands either alone or together. It's about 11 different guys and 20+ bands. Vlad Tepes, Belkètre and Mutiilation are probably the best and most known acts. All three considered cult bands because of their early releases. It's pretty obvious they've been stocking up on songs, this is most definitely from their time as ZMI. freaking excited, even their name is better this time! (what the fuck ZERO MIND INFINITY is supposed to mean?) Hoping they properly re-record and release BE PROUD, i love that song!

Some days have passed by, and I still wonder why people jamming to new THE IIID pretend that the climax/bridge part in the middle is not awkward at all... I am seconding the comment on taking a break from severely dense production: why there's no raw, live MTV Unplugged-like release from these guys?

Asagi has managed to make a lot of interesting pair ups, the album must've taken a lot of time and money to produce.

Tell me about it. The fact that they missed all of those but heavily represented the shittier remakes is beyond me. Unless the Obscure remake is there to highlight a low point in the band's career? We are trawling through their history after all Skipping Macabre (the song) when you have 3 discs worth of space is a sin.

They will change their name to BlackMoral Enterprises and their remaining non-Gaze acts (Rave and Kra at this point, I think) will quietly be shuttled off elsewhere within Free Will. Mejibray’s disbandment will become official. Tzu and Koichi will be silent all year. Meto will join an all-star band one-off project. MiA will do a lot of fashion shoots and appear as a session guitarist with a couple of acts. Codomo Dragon will leave BP Records as a direct result of Kanagate. BP goes into panic mode since Kiryu’s future rests on the state of Mahiro’s vision issues and Royz nearly disbanded at least once. They will sign a neo-oshare act and force them to release even more material than their established bands. Sakito will do another nude/semi-nude layout to promote his latest Jakigan Meister release and look hotter than most J-rockers a decade-plus younger than him. A band with a substantial international following (possibly DIAURA) will sign with a major label and unleash a torrent of discourse about whether they’re going to be “ruined.”
