    ルクス(lux) will disband

that's true that it's realistic, but it being realistic doesn't take the shock or distraught away from fans nor does being realistic exempt you from being a dick. So saying it with the tone of "obviously it will happen, you should've expected this. Get over it" is really shitty for fans who were supporting them and really didn't see this coming (like I said, this one in particular seemed really sudden and out of nowhere). It's especially shitty to be told something like that if you are emotionally invested in the band and are hurting from this announcement. So yeah, maybe you weren't intending to be a dick, but you certainly came off as one. And yeah, we all know that VK is unstable, but you can't really assume that all bands decide to disband cos they suddenly lost motivation. There are many factors that as fans, we can never and will never know. Plus, Lux hasn't posted any information about it other than their last live details so there are even more unknowns than usual.

I'm sorry, but I can't actually believe that no one finds it inappropriate that things like this get dumped on the forum here? I wouldn't enjoy seeing any of you naked, flustered and straight out of the shower either. As for Kisaki, he has definitely looked healthier – it wouldn't be beyond any of you to worry for his wellbeing in this case.

    ルクス(lux) will disband

I literally JUST fell in love with this band T_T I'm really glad I met them before it's too late, but this really fucking sucks T_T Even if you're not surprised, you don't have to be a dick about it. This band had a lot of potential and this disbandment definitely came out of nowhere. Especially since Mio had JUST joined and actually decided to quit playing support for other bands so he could focus on Lux.

    The general Metal discussion thread

Some albums to look forward to in the coming months: Orphaned Land - Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs Hooded Menace - Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed Druid Lord - Grotesque Offerings Tribulation - Lady Death Evilfeast - Elegies of the Stellar Wind Beastiality - Worshippers of Unearthly Perversions Obscure Burial - Obscure Burial Damn, that Hooded Menace and Druid Lord covers are sweet as fuck. Awesome! Really like the cartoonish tone of the Beastiality cover (albeit a bit of a weird choice considering the music they play) and the darkness of the Tribulation Ep cover too. Looks good!

So, seemingly, they're doing with "M. A. D." the same thing they did with "Lethal affliction"; now we just have to wait for the music video to be released in a single next year. Also: O-west, guys. Again. There's a DVD produced by Sena with these things guitarists do. It's called "Sonic-morphic ~modern metal shredding abstraction from Sena~".

The other day I met YOSHIKI. I was at a showing of We Are X in Oslo, Norway. Norway doesn't have a huge VK scene so I was happy he had come. It turned out to be his first time in Norway. I asked him "Can western bands be visual kei?" - He laughed and replied "Of course!" So I followed up with "If a western band is to be visual kei, is there something they must adhere to, in terms of style or aesthetic?" He explained VK is more of a mindset, born out of them feeling like they didn't really fit in anywhere. As he said, they played "super heavy" and "super soft" music. He also told me about a festival he hosted recently where the bands were everything from metal to pop, and there was even a band that didn't play music (that got some laughs around the room). He summed everything up by saying it really isn't a genre, but more of a mindset allowing yourself to be as creative as you want. And it also generally has makeup. I am summing these things up from memory. So here's my take on VK: 1. You must be influenced by Japan/Japanese music (because after all, it originates from Japan). 2. Make creative use of makeup/visuals. 3. Be somewhat diverse in terms of style. 4. Be doing your own thing confidently (basically: be true to yourself, because people and fans can see through you being a cookie-cutter). So basically, no you don't have to have a lolita in the band. One member doesn't have to wear a surgical facemask at all times. You don't have to have death-metal growls in your music. Some music fans within genres and subcultures get really elitist and that gets irritating, especially when people say that VK is only Japanese (so is glam-metal only truly American? Can you not make Brazilian samba music if you aren't from Brazil?). VK is unique in that it is vague but also has a meaning. A band alone isn't just "visual kei" but "visual kei rock" would be a better indicator. I think in that sense, the addition of the term "visual kei" before "rock" to me would indicate the above traits I listed, like being influenced by Japan, be somewhat "different" in terms of makeup/visuals and potentially have a diverse musical style. I had a blast meeting YOSHIKI. He's a funny and nice guy, and it was an honor having him in Norway.

I can do it if you don't get around to it, too. It seems like Gackt left out quite a bit of the story before and between, "After that meeting, the environment during those final days was very quarrelsome-like." and, "After that I immediately went to America with YOU and other old friends of mine and began recording an album." He also conveniently leaves out the reasons why a break-up was discussed in the first place. Generally just based on my experience working in Japan thus far, if people you work with/your boss or employer has decided to nullify your contract or end something you're involved in without you being privy to that convo, it generally means that you are considered to be "in the wrong" about something, ergo the group takes action and comes to a decision without you. It honestly sounds like Gackt did something wrong and whether he was aware of how upset the other members/management was over it or not, the group talked about breaking up without him and then suddenly presented this decision to him, with the intention (at the time) of actually breaking up or getting him to withdraw on his own. I'm guessing the latter though since the band did not actually end up breaking up.

I googled a bit in Japanese and found this entry by Gackt https://ameblo.jp/gackt/entry-12268922926.html He writes about Malice Mizer and their break-up a bit there, I just read through it fast and there seem to be nothing groundbreaking but at least some stuff I'm sure foreign fans aren't aware off. I'm off work in a couple of hours and then I have to sleep so I'll start translating asap... unless someone else manage to do it before me

I love DIMLIM. Also the best new band of 2017 to me. I’ve seen them live and they were great. I never really cared about Issei (and even less after the meme drama), but I do really like Tsubasa (and the others) and fear for the band’s future now. Tsubasa’s reason for departing is not clear to me though... Anyone able to clarify?

Ok, grazie. Ho trovato la Japan Night su Facebook ma sembra molto pop & idol group più che VK, o sbaglio? Dj Sisen mi piace e ho visto che suona tra qualche settimana, ora però mi manca qualcuno con cui dividere le spese di viaggio fino a Prato lol (sorry for turning the post into Italian conversation, let me know if I should rewrite this in English, thanks!)
