Back to my cheerfulness! ~
niivozombie and 2 others reacted to miyukihime for a post in a topic
Hey everyone! I'm Miyuki (pen pal name) and I'm new to these forums, but not so new to VK. It's been SO LONG since I listened to it, but it was basically my entire childhood. I am now 20 years old and it's been (what) 5 (?) years since I actively stopped listening to it (worst mistake ever, lol). Now I tuned back to my old bands and the overwhleming happiness I am getting is beyond unreal. Since I was out of community for so long I wish to find new people to connect with on here and to find new bands to listen to. Right now I'm enjoying Aicle, Spiv States, SuG, Kiryuu, DaizyStripper ( <3 ), Plastic Tree, DOG in the PWO, LM.C, basically all the 'old' cheerful bands. If anyone wishes to meet someone as eager to listen to happy japanese rock (and obviously admiring and fangirling over band members) as you are here I am! ^__^ Have a great day!! -

Ok bros, question of the day: How many of you actually use both hands to take a piss? I got shit from someone for being on my cellphone and using the urinal. I don't know what bothered me more: the fact that someones jimmies were rustled by my multitasking, or that they broke bro code and fucking pissed in the urinal next to mine lol. -

1 pointThese are the ones that come to my head at the moment NEW SODMY mousouko (there is only a small clip of it in the TOUR CAT WALK 2002 -Documents- VHS, and a transcription of its lyrics, but it remains unrecorded), Frame (only played live, unrecorded), DALA (you can hear it in the LAST LIE live VHS but there never was a proper recording). MALICE MIZER 16のソリチュード (16 no SOLITUDE), Freeze me, Portugal, 白昼のワルツ (Hakuchuu no WALTZ), 前兆 (Zenchou's vocal version), 魅惑のタンゴ (Miwaku no TANGO), You can hear them in several bootleg recordings from their lives. E'm~grief~ Rita and Cecir were supposedly working on new songs some time after their hiatus, but with Yuuze's death and Rita leaving the scene I guess any chance of getting to hear them are pretty much dead too.

La'Mule
Spectralion reacted to jaymee for a post in a topic
I think this is hard because even during La'Mule's heyday, they were not exactly popular overseas. I had a lot of trouble getting their releases back in the day beyond sending Japanese yen cash in an envelope to Brand X... CD Japan did not carry many indie releases at the time. This was partially because the indie VK reservation system was more complicated and generally were less pressings and a lot of live-only distribution stuff. Some good indicators back then (and seconding some of these already mentioned): - Live venues used and live attendance - Magazine feature count including did the members have their own column in a VK mag? - TV / radio appearances - In store / taiban / misc. event invitation count including what bands did they often play with? Back then bands would mostly play with other bands on the same scale as them unless it was a label event - Flyers (Back then most bands did not use colored flyers, but more well off bands did) - Release packaging and/or extras (Ex: Was there a first press? Did pressings come in digi packaging or have other high quality features?) - Were "bootleg" candid shots sold of them in Harajuku? - Number of cosplayers (Because at the time, VK fandom was still very much tied to Harajuku, cosplaying on Yoyogi bridge, etc.) - And last but not least, how big of an influence they had on the scene/their contributions to the scene La'Mule checks off a lot of these. Also they were on the Soleil label, which had a lot of the best (read as most popular) VK indie acts at the time signed, including La:Sadie's. While Soleil didn't ultimately survive, their sub label Matina did. Of course Matina would then basically become Undercode Production. La'Mule had nowhere near the advertising, financial backing, number of fans, etc. of bigger bands like L'Arc, GLAY, etc., but mainstream music and its success has almost always been a reflection of labels and bands being able to ride a trend with bands just below being able to create the undertow influencing these trends. This is why La'Cryma Christi, Malice Mizer, Shazna, and Fanatic Crisis are considered the "4 god bands" of VK in the 90s, despite the fact they were not the most popular and their music hasn't endured as well as aforementioned GLAY, L'Arc, etc. Malice Mizer's and X Japan's influence was especially prolific as it's only in more recent years that most VK bands have made the move from 5 person bands (one singer, two guitars, one bass, one drummer) to different member counts (more often 4 now), and you no longer see someone designated as the "girl"/"onnagata" of the band. Anywho, when I was a teen this was my favorite La'Mule song: And over the years, this has become my favorite: -

Single People Thread
platy reacted to The Bread Wolf for a post in a topic
As someone who's had to actually break a relationship off with someone else thinking those words exactly I can confirm it's not that easy to tell them there was something wrong. Or the thing may be that there wasn't. When I broke up with my previous boyfriend I knew there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. He didn't treat me wrong and he couldn't have done anything differently. I feel like it's easier when there's actually something you can blame the whole break-up on. That they weren't attentive enough or that you yourself have to sort things out in your head. But when it's just that you've fallen in love with someone else just because they were a different kind of person entirely, what else can you say? "I'm breaking it off, but don't think there's anything wrong with you, you were perfect, but anyways, so long". Tl;dr IT'S HARD TO BREAK UP WITH SOMEONE ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ISN'T A PROPER EXPLANATION YOU CAN GIVE FOR IT. -

1 pointWonder Woman - Much better than expected and a decent superhero film, but if this exact film was made by a male the hype train would not be so big. It's an original film without much origin information, way too much slow-mo and cheap-ass CGI. It takes an incredible amount of time to get going, and when it gets going it's just one poorly directed action scene after another. And even when it takes its time, like in the first half, it doesn't do much at all. It's kinda just there. There's some cool and different action scenes in the film, but the majority are ruined by poor CGI and/or slow-mo. Now this sounds incredibly negative, but I thought it was decent entertainment. But there's no chance in the world it deserves its grand reviews and ratings. Doctor Strange - This however is exactly how you make a superhero film. First off, Doctor Strange never feels very super. And just that alone makes it stand out a bit in the huge world of superheroes we've got today. There is some doggy CGI here, but what really makes the majority of CGI work fairly well is that it never tries to look real. The visuals is fairly trippy and weird, the origin story feels like an origin story and its tone is just very different from most other films. By far the most artistic and out-there MCU film yet. Visually it feels a bit like a trippy Inception at times, only this isn't pure filth as Inception is. It's actually fairly pleasant to look at.
