Apparently 関ジャニ∞ (Kanjani∞, a group from Johnny's) decided to cover visual kei in their show yesterday and it was actually really good?! 鬼龍院翔 from ゴールデンボンバー, as well as DAIGO and 1/2 of SID were the musicians invited to talk about VK history and where the scene is today. And even more importantly, they were there to give praise to the greatest VK band ever, LUNA SEA. #recognizeit Here's the full show (in Japanese w/o subs: Interesting parts: Kiryuin Sho is actually a super knowledgeable guy. Who would have thought that someone from Golden Bomber would be the best and biggest spokesperson for VK in 2017? They split visual kei in decades in a fairly usual manner: 80's as creation, 90's as the boom, 00's as neo visual kei and 10's as nothing is happening and no one is famous or good enough to break into the mainstream DAIGO was a member of 黒夢's fanclub back then and was a huge 清春 fanboy They discuss whether L'Arc~en~Ciel and GLAY are visual kei bands; Laruku doesn't really get mentioned a lot, but GLAY is described by Kiryuin Sho as "VK to show your parents" which is 100% accurate Meanwhile, DIR EN GREY is "VK you enjoy by yourself" which even then is a stretch They play "I for you" by LUNA SEA and it sucks; Mao from SID is the best vocalist out of the three by a mile Forgot any other cool tidbits, so just watch it! Teketeke is the name of an urban legend in Japan of a girl who got cut in half by a train. She goes around walking on her hands (her name is the onomatopoeia for the sound of her hands slapping on the ground as she runs) and stealing the bottom half of the people who walk over the bridge to the train. Two mediocre horror films were made based on the urban legend as well and sometimes is meshed into the urban legend of Kashimo Reika. I'm sure their undead schoolgirl look is a direct reference to their band name.

[ramble incoming] I don't really have this experience here much as I just don't talk on here ever, this is mostly about people on Facebook VK forums, but. Whenever I try to make VK friends, I get a vibe from the people I try to make friends with that they think they're better than me for whatever reason. I want to go like "sorry to burst your bubble but you're not better than anybody, honey". Then again I could just be imagining it. It's really hard for me to make friends with similar interests, so I think whenever I do find a friend I interact with them too much and freak them out, I guess. So that could be why, idk

update: i gave m-ology another listen and i really like it *____________* especially 犬型真性MASOCHIST. i think i established this already, but it's probably my fave out of the whole album. other than that, it's not as bad as i thought it was at first, (altho it still doesn't slay as much as their previous albums) and i feel bad for dragging my babies...................🙇🙇🙇

It was announced at their live on October 2nd that they will release another live limited mini album 「挽肉の一生」(Hiniku No Issho) at their anniversary live on December 15, 2017. There's also a free song CD being distributed with the purchase of their Mini Album titled 「ハンバーグ」.

idk With a band I love, I often dislike the new album at first listen because it's different than what I'm used to hearing. Once I get past that I usually love it! I didn't have that problem with this album though. I had it really, really bad with under-world though.

This reminds me! I recently found these pictures on my old photobucket account of my hand sewn Merry shirts. It was impossible for me to get legit merch in America back then (around 2007) so I finally decided to just make my own. Attempt 1 Front and back design: Yeah, not great f(^^;) I do really like how the umbrella came out though! I am much more pleased with the second one, which is cross stitch (I am way more confident with cross stitch than embroidery) and I drafted the pattern by hand over the course of a month. The long blood drip in the logo has gotten a little crooked over the years so I think I'll redo that part when I go back to the US next week.

I usually grab those light sticks at cheap store and cheer the band with it! Always also give some fans some sticks so that we can cheer together. yet visual kei, I did notice it is not really for me anymore. I grew up to be a metal/punk/underground rock supporter. (mostly bands with members 40+)
