    [VK Nightclub] Klubb Lunacy

Klubb Lunacy is one of Europe's oldest Visual Kei nightclubs, which originally ran between 2004 and 2010. After a 7 years long hiatus, I'm happy to announce that I'm the one who is carrying on the torch and together with the old owner I'm reforming it and intend to make it stronger than ever. The first date is set for 1 of September in Stockholm, Sweden. Six hours of old and new Visual Kei music, a Visual Kei outfit competition with an amazing prize sponsored by RarezHut, and the chance to hang out with over one hundred other fans of this increasingly rare style of music. And while we hope that some of you might be able to attend this grand revival, we don't intend to limit our activities to Sweden, and would be glad to bring it wherever enough people who are interested might be located, mainly in Europe. So if you have any connections or ideas please feel free to message me and we'll see what can be done! The clubs Facebook is located here: https://www.facebook.com/KlubbLunacy/ And the event itself is located here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1435508826514161/ Most posts have an English version after the Swedish text, so please scroll down if you want more info! We're glad for any and all support we can get from you guys as we try to bring back some community and party to the fandom! Also a special thanks to @orange~ who designed our logo!

    Mix Speaker's,Inc. will disband

They posted the news today on their official site: http://www.mixspeakersnet.com/sp/news/report.html?id=767 I'll translate the member messages later tonight if anyone is interested. (Since every member wrote something it's kind of long and I don't have enough time before my lunch break ends...)

So reading though all of it, it seems that although AYA and seek had no intentions of leaving MSI to continue with PLC, some or all of the other members had their reservations about them continuing with two bands at the same time, and finally in light of this, NIKA and Miki felt they could no longer continue to be a part of MSI. It doesn't seem like AYA and seek were slacking off any in MSI, just that some or all of the members felt everyone's hearts should be in the same place with just their one band. If re-posting this/these translation(s) elsewhere, please link back here/credit me, yeah? [2017/08/23] Imporant Announcement from Mix Speakers,Inc. Imporant Announcement from Mix Speakers,Inc. We’d like to express our sincerest gratitude for your continued support of Mix Speakers,Inc. Following the EX THEATER ROPPONGI performance on February 25, 2018, Mix Speakers,Inc. will disband. We deeply apologize from the bottom of our hearts for this sudden announcement. We are sincerely grateful to all of our fans, staff, and everyone who has supported us during these many, 11 years. Mix Speakers,Inc. [NIKA] [MIKI] [AYA] [keiji] [seek] [ S. ] AYA posted some follow-up tweets in light of the disbandment announcement, and I felt like this one was particularly relevant: "What’s next After MSI’s disbandment was decided, I did a lot of thinking. I thought about retiring, and I also thought about devoting myself entirely to Psycho le Cemu, but I can’t help but still want to keep making my own music. Nothing has changed about wanting to express myself and I still have much to give. I’m not sure what form of activity this will take, but I want to create a new place to express myself." So it seems like regardless of PLC getting back together, AYA didn't want to contain himself to just one outlet of expression. Perhaps seek feels the same way, although he hasn't posted or expressed any thoughts since tweeting about MSI's disbandment announcement.

dude i think about this all the time... I actually have already experienced this back in 2015 when one of my close gaming buddies died suddenly. Like it's a really weird feeling, someone who I talked to almost everyday over voice chat for years just gone like that. A online friend who I never met irl, but constantly was there for me to just blow some steam off with after shitty days. It's a rough experience that's for sure. The hardest part is working up the courage to go looking for answers. In my case it had been weeks without contact and no activity on the account, several messages gone ignored and that was when I finally knew something was wrong. Luckily I knew his real name and a quick google search later revealed a obituary entry which then later I confirmed to be him through facebook. I never have felt my heart sink so fast in my life.... The second hardest part is breaking the news to the circle of online friends that also knew him and were just as close as I was... Toughest thing I've ever had to do and I do not wish the experience upon anybody. The stuff that really keeps me up at night are the questions, to this day I still don't know what happened. Was it a accident? complication? who knows. I start theorizing and things that I remember start standing out as sorta fishy, like different facts that don't quite seem right or at least doesn't match up with what I knew about the person and his life. Then I start wondering whether things weren't as good with him as he was letting on, maybe he was intentionally not telling us things because he didn't want us to worry or have even more emotional baggage. it is a endless rabbit hole and it sucks. the only remedy is to just forget.

Actually I'll just go ahead and post a translation of the general announcement and NIKA's message first, because I think it offers the most insight into what is going on. I'll update with the others later. [NIKA] Just as it says, we’ve decided to disband. I’m sorry to surprise you all with such sudden news. I know this must come as a betrayal to those of you who have supported us up until now, and were hopeful about or were anticipating more to come in the future, but as painful and regretful as it is, it can’t be helped. We’ve been together for a long time. We were able to forge many strong bonds during our activities, but we’ve also had a growing number of disagreements between us. Although I’ve tried to bridge these disagreements once becoming aware of them, and it was my intention to put forth my best effort so we could continue together in the future, it was just too much for me. For this I am truly sorry. When we were together, stupid things would get blown up, but we’d stay positive through it all, and united on making our live shows and music the best we could. It isn’t that there’s bad blood or anything like that between us. This is the honest truth. Even bearing the heaviness of these arguments on our shoulders, we pressed on with our band activities, because we love all of you bangya princesses and princes so much. And because of that, I’d like to keep a bright, Mix Speakers,Inc.-like smile on my face until the very, very end. I’ve decided that Mix Speakers will be my last band, so after our disbandment I have no plans to form another band or take the stage again. So I sincerely ask that somehow, you come to say goodbye. In order to make Mix Speakers, Inc. stand out, even if it's just a little bit more, all of us will be putting everything we have into our final tour. Finally, to all of you who have supported us up until this point, you have my sincerest gratitude. I hope you’ll continue to support us for just a little longer.

Y'know I've actually never really thought of that; now that I think about it, I see roleplaying as a sort of fanfic collab and sometimes, it's kinda cool to see what two people can come with together. I've actually done it once a few years ago for another fandom, but of course I ended up not liking it cuz I was (and still am) better off on my own.

Anyone else getting over VK recently?

Eh, I don't know. It's not that I don't like any VK bands anymore and I still listen to much of what I was into 5-10 years ago (the "classics"), but with the huge flow of band's and releases it just gets harder and harder to find new bands I enjoy. Back in the day when I first got into VK I started with all the classic bands and big bands, making it easy to find quality bands. Nowadays it feels like everyone is releasing something and I have to go through 50 bands to find one I like. Not worth the time IMO. And the "recent" metalcore-esque tend really didn't do me any favors as I despise the sound of modern, 2000's metalcore. But this goes for every genre and scene. Like the depressive black metal boom, thrash metal boom, othrodox black metal boom and so on. I like all these subgenres a lot, but suddenly you had to listen to 50+ albums to find one decent within these styles because "everyone" did them. It was just too much shit getting released which made it hard to find something good, which again made me look for something else. Basically same with VK for me.

Perhaps. It seems like Miki (and possibly the other members) were upset that AYA and seek decided to do PLC again without giving much regard to the other MSI members' feelings. Perhaps AYA and seek thought this would be OK because they intended to, and were, seriously working hard in both bands. But it seems at least two of the members felt at least a little "betrayed" they were not loyal to just one band. I feel like if AYA and seek were not slacking in MSI, it's a little selfish of the other members to confine them to one band. Often PLC just got the leftover dates of whatever dates MSI and the other PLC members' other bands weren't playing. Though I imagine there had to be schedule compromises between all the members, it's not like MSI got put on the back burner for PLC. AYA and seek's dreams have always been to play Budokan, like the rest of PLC. But this will never happen with MSI, even if they both preferred MSI. MSI is just not popular enough. You could say it's selfish for them to want so many things. Even for PLC, I can't say they'll ever make it there. Maybe it will be harder now since at this point, it's causing huge rifts between fans of one band or the other, or both, on Twitter. Maybe things will get better after the initial shock wears off, though.

About 4½ but yes, your point still stands, I actually didn't think they gained much overseas exposure until they started putting out their mini albums. I can only speak about the fandom from 2003 (when Batsu started out) and forward but since then at least D'espairsRay have been in fairly good standing. And it's true that the early fandom focused on different bands, but it wasn't until the VK boom that VK fans became a force to be reckoned with in terms of playing concerts and stuff, so I think the point about GLAY, Shazna etc. being of relatively tiny importance to the overseas fandom compared to how it was in Japan still stands. And probably the reverse for a lot of the no name bands that were riding on the VK popularity boom and saw their chance to come overseas and play to audiences of a size they had no business playing to. To be fair though, I think the American and the European perspective is a bit different and I don't have a lot of knowledge on the early days of the fandom over there, so it could also be that I have a different perspective based on that.

For now, I've kinda 'got over' VK I guess. I cannot go more than half a minute listening to any sort of Japanese music basically, just got so tired of the same tropes repeated over and over again. Sometimes I go back to some old favorites ofc, like maybe once every month. Also, this isn't unusual for me. It's like this with any kind of music genre or style. Sometimes you get over-saturated with a particular sound and then you need to take a break from it to listen to something else. I'll prolly find my way back in a few months for a bit again. But will I return to the habits of the first few years after I discovered Japanese music (and that was basically everything I listened to)? Not likely.

So much analysis. What's wrong with stating what you don't like about today's Visual Kei? People did the same thing ten, fifteen, twenty years ago and most likely the same exact debate is happening in Japanese circles too. I don't think this is only happening in the west. Visual Kei has gone through different phases, some more memorable than others and that have made a greater impact. It's not like everything today with Visual Kei is bad or a disappointment, but perhaps there is something about the style that's missing. In the end that's what forums are for: debate. No one complains when you state that you love today's Visual Kei then why does it bother you when someone criticises it? You can do the same thing with older eras of Visual Kei, whatever you opinion may be. If you start stigmatising people for comments that you don't like even though they are personal opinions that harm no one then people will feel discourgaed to leave comments and a forum should be open for differing opinions.

Anyone else getting over VK recently?

I can think of a few good reasons why. There isn't anywhere else. There wasn't ever anywhere else really. During the VK heyday, most of our "competition" were blog spots. Finding downloads is easy. MH is one of the few bastions of hardcore music discussion left on the Internet dedicated to visual kei. It's not endemic, but it's not uncommon either. There's something about visual kei that comes and goes in waves and perhaps by sharing our experiences we can all come to a common understanding on what visual kei really means to us. The more I think about it, I don't "fall" out of other scenes or genres the way I do visual kei. I could go three to four months only listening to visual kei, and then spend another three to four months not listening to it at all. It's got a really addicting quality to it! Some people remain steadfast, others worship the false god K-Pop, and then the rest of us are somewhere in the middle, one foot still tied to this place. Or at least I am. For me at least, it's really interesting to see why people are leaving visual kei. The first reason given is usually a general one that hides the real one. A pattern I have noticed and never seen mentioned is that all it takes is one band's untimely disbandment for the wind to leave someone's sails. Mine was D'espa. For what it's worth, I haven't noticed too much complaining in this thread. But I have noticed that a lot of members have refined tastes in visual kei, and know what they like, and will tune in when something catches their interest. There's just so much going on in the scene these days, if one is not knee-deep in it and doesn't have a gateway band to ease returning into the scene, it can feel like the scene has nothing to offer them anymore.

I attended two of the shows on this old school tour in osaka and posted them on Facebook. Decides I might just as well repost them here: Day 1: " I just attended the best show of my life, and it was a MUCC live. The best way I can describe it is as if I went back in a time machine to 2001 and attended one of their oneman lives. They performed only old songs, including tracks so old several fans noticably did not recognize then, like Kranke (my favorite song!) and Koibito. The entire live felt dangerous and rough, just like one of those 90s lives where the audience are headbanging their necks off and the band is taunting them further into a frenzy. Before VK became a polished business. It was super intense, during some songs the entire audience was moshing and thanks to the intense mosh I ended up in the second row in front of tatsurou during the second half of the live, where I ended up catching him as he stage dived during Orugooru. At the end, when they played Kurutta Kajitsu, we were even ordered to perform a wall of death and delivered it splendidly. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/mucc/2017/esaka-muse-osaka-japan-2be5b0e2.html Tomorrow is Homura Uta day... can't wait. Dir en grey, take note. This is how you do nostalgia shows." Day 2: " So... MUCC day 2 was every bit as good as day 1. Homura Uta day, so practically the whole album was performed, along with some songs from Antique and Tsuuzetsu. Especially the performance of Kimi ni Sachi Are and Kurayami ni Saku Hana stood out as soulcrushingly beautiful, and tracks like Kokuen made the whole audience mosh yet again while Tatsurou kept jumping into the front rows to make us work harder. Before OYOGE! TAIYAKI-KUN Tatsurou addressed me directly, asking if I knew the lyrics (since I was seemingly the only foreigner at least in the front of the venue). I made an OK sign and he looked surprised and happy and made some comment about it, and then we all sang it together, the entire venue. During the wall of death during Kurutta Kajitsu today, he jumped into the audience and participated for a bit before being rescued back onto the stage. To be honest, unless MUCC makes further nostalgia tours, I might not attend any more of their lives in the future. Nothing can top this tour no matter how hard they try. Sure, I'd like to see a Zekuu and Kuchiki no Tou tour as well, but until that happens I might just lay off their lives in the future. Todays Setlist: HOMURA UTA (intro) ZETSUBOU SHIAWASE NO SHUUCHAKU KOKUEN YAKEATO KARE GA SHINDA HI KIMI NI SACHI ARE MAMA SHIGATSU NO RENGESOU BOKU GA HONTOU NO BOKU NI TAEKIREZU TSUKUTTA HONTOU NO BOKU KURAYAMI NI SAKU HANA USO DE YUGAMU SHINZOU KAERANU HITO KOKONOKA OYOGE! TAIYAKI-KUN SUISOU MAE E SUIMIN Encore: YUME NO MACHI SHOUFU DAIKIRAI KURUTTA KAJITSU (WARAI)" Hope someone here finds it interesting to read!

I hope it's not bad if I revive this thread because HOLY CRAP how did I miss this??? Back when I was a fetus and probably too young to be on the Internet, I would scour fanfiction.net and quizilla (RIP) for HOURS reading anime and Pokémon fanfiction. Hell, when I was in elementary school, I was writing my own fanfics, series and such and I would hide them from my parents and blush madly when I attempted my first smut (in middle school..god I was such a bad kid). When I first got into Jrock and visual kei, I think most of my passion for fanfiction died because I had started rping instead and I had met some of the most amazing people. As far as my preferences for fanfics, I do like angst and I admit, I'm a sucker for vampires, only if it's done to my taste. The same goes for smut which I'm VERY picky about. I guess I write enough butt sex and similar scenarios that seeing it written out kinda makes me yawn. I also tend to stir away from fanfics of popular bands such as the GazettE, Mejibray, etc. because I've had so many of those pairs spewed in my face that I'm tired of it. I like crack ships (as long as they aren't ridiculous) I haven't written a fanfic in ages and I just came across my old naruto fanfiction stash which is...embarrassing.
