Bruh, me and @Chi were literally just talking about this. I randomly came across a screencap JUST LAST NIGHT of my old last.fm, and funnily enough, I believe that's one of your accounts under "friends listening now", heh. I miss that feature!

Please can we have the last of years ago back. I miss it so much. Just changed computers and forgot the password to my account, but it's just not worth it to try to remember which email I used for it and try to reclaim it. I'm debating whether to make a new one or not and trying to ignore all the voices in my head saying "what for." I've actually made an actual friend through last.fm back in the day; now it's a ghost town. All the days spent looking at charts and reading through shit like the degbox... oh...

Fuck this album was trashed by people back in the day, and now it's pretty much entirely forgotten about; all the while I thought it was great pretty much from day one and still spin it on occasion. The aesthetics have this sort of ill-dated charm to them now too.

god i wish i could've joined that site when it was in its prime, but i joined at the end of 2016 when everything had already gone to shit... but tbh, the only reason i got it in the first place was to keep track of my own personal listening statistics, and so far i haven't been disappointed with those features. but it's really interesting to see what could have been if i joined a few years ago :// also what @sheepprincessgarasaid... i actually manage to use it for that these days, too

Yoin was one of the best songs Gazette wrote (or Aoi I should say) from 2011-2013. Ibitsu just sounds like a rearranged Shiver to me, which in turn reminded me of Regret. Anyway, I listen to Division more than Toxic and Beautiful Deformity. I think the whole split disc concept was a huge failure (especially since there was a single disc version anyway), but that at least made it easy to avoid Ruki's ill-conceived takes on industrial metal. I'm curious where they're headed next stylistically. I liked Dogma, but it was not an evolution of the band's sound in any way; it was Gazette without ballads. And I'm hoping Ruki loosens his iron grip a bit for the next album.

As of yesterday, Amai Bouryoku has released a compilation CD of all their songs (minus 嘘キス) entitled 入門盤 (nyuumonban) ("introductory disk"). Includes 6 previously released songs along with 1 new track for only 500 yen. Tracklist: 1. 夜乙女 (yoru otome) Unfortunately this CD does not come with a lyrics booklet (probably why it's so cheap)

Me neither. I mean, they've been getting a lot of popularity due to preforming with Mucc and stuff. Disbanding wouldn't be logical

Fastest growing vk band of all time?

SID grew pretty quickly too. They formed towards the end of 2003, and had their first oneman tour in the autumn of 2005, and tickets sold out almost immediately. They played at Budokan on 2006.08.29 - just short of their 3rd anniversary. Other major milestones: 2010.07.31 - Saitama Super Arena (sold 32,000) 2010.12.11 - First Tokyo Dome live (sold 40,000) The rock band holding the record for the least number of days between formation and their 1st Budokan live is ViViD

This is something I've been thinking about for quite some time, I am always impressed by vk bands who manage to get huge in little to no time, but which is actually the fastest growing vk band of all time? I can't find any listing like this online, so if anybody knows any bands who progressed really really fast, feel free to write about them here. The first one that comes to mind for me is LUNA SEA January 1989 - start band activities (no label deal). December 1989 - Sold out Machida playhouse (150 tickets sold). (Just for measure, I've never seen Grieva sell more than 250 tickets/gig in their 6 year career). November 1990 - Sold out Meguro Live station two days straight (500 tickets sold) March 1991 - Nuclear Fusion Tour (/w Gilles de Rais & Sighs of Love potion) sold out Shibuya Kokaido (2080 tickets sold) April 1991 - To celebrate their debut album @ extasy records, they giged at Shinjuku Nissin Power station. (800 tickets sold out in less than 30 minutes) September 1991 - Under the new moon tour final @ nihon aonenkan (1250 tickets sold) December 1991 - to match the fan request they announced two days gig at nihon aonenkan (2500 tickets sold). August 1993 - first Budoukan gig (two days, which eventually turned into one day because a typhoon destroyed part of the building) (14,000~ tickets sold) December 1995 - first Tokyo Dome gig (56,000 tickets sold) So, after signing with Extasy in 1990, going major in 1991 (a mere year later) to having their first dome gig 4 years afterwards, and getting it sold out. I think it's very impressive. I'm sure there must be bands who have managed to do it equally fast, or even faster though?

    the GazettE

I actually like DIVISION more than BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY. But I do find Ibitsu very forgettable especially since like Saishu said it sounds like way too similar to Shiver. My first Gazette album was STACKED RUBBISH and I honestly disliked it very much at first. I only decided to give them another chance when DIM was released because of all the hype i kept hearing about in different forums and I'm so glad I gave them a second chance. Hell I even like STACKED RUBBISH now and listen it a lot (still hate Filth in the beauty). DOGMA was great for me because it was on the more br00tal side but Gazette does shine more in ballads in my opinion which DOGMA lacked. honestly i just hope they don't fully ditch the electronic part of their sound that started to show since TOXIC because that is the main reason i love them so much. But they should keep the br00tal vocals and the shuga shug shug from time to time.

Kind of wish LAB. THE BASEMENT would start making new music again, or that Ao would start up some other solo side-project. His voice is rather unique and I feel like he could deliver some more (post-)punk / new wave-inspired goodness, but at this point I feel like he's comfortable enough just sticking to cali gari. DALLE is fucking garbage and they have literally 1 (one) good song dummy-xD are INCREDIBLY slept on (even tho their vocalist seems to have the same helium dealer as Yumesleep's one)

Not that I am attempting to necro another thread again, but I'd love to add more to my point w/ that Friedman video: It's a real shame that YT terminated one of those anime otaku accounts with tons of good theory/trivia stuff on how Japan espoused the waves of American/European influence and made into something of their own. I could retell the whole analysis he churned out but to put it bluntly, Japanese are not fixed on the idea of "how to start with what kind of chord if we play in this key" or rules set by the trends of our times. Even now you may hear that according to the folks outside of our circles our preferences are "all over the place" due to our twisted expectations of metal outfits and their sound. So, the prime instance of hypocrisy lies in the fact that while the most stanny ones are cherishing this microcosm of "everything" genre-wise thanks to Japanese perception of "boundaries", their personal takes on enjoying genres per se are heavily biased, further away from the actual picture: They will reject "roots music" of their personal "favorite genre" as defined by themselves inside the boundaries of their musical "microcosm". When you see them for instance, saying things like that "hey, I enjoy symphonic metal - I listen to Matenrou, Versailles and Galneryus!", don't buy immediately into the idea that they will warm to the "essentials" of the said genre. My personal experience was the main reason why I had to write all of this, since I had, and still have a bit of hard time in getting into "purist" variants of my favorite genres (western ones, since we are not touching trad music here). As we speak, that is also why I am trying so hard but almost in vain to lose the grip on Japanese music even for the hecking 2 months or so, just to understand the "roots music" concept without any prior expectations...my two cents though, not 100% related to what OP said, sorry

Mejibray Comment Section: 「羽花」/ THE END/ Agitato Grimoire "oh my baby girls , they have just fucked my ears , love the way "Die Kusse Girl" sing in this song <3 Hane ga saku Hane ga saku" "I'm just in love with Mejibray. It's awesome to see how the visualkei-genre (cause at least for me there's something you can definitely defined as a genre in terms of music and sound) is having a great come back with new bands such as Dadaroma and Mejibray. I was a huge fan of Kagerou, and since they have been gone it was harsh for me to get to feel the same thing with a j-rock/metal band again - even though Gazette did an amazing job in DOGMA. There's a lot of sounds of those generations of musicians in Mejibray. Getting' to know this guys is one of the many reasons, youtube is such a fantastic place for multicultural and artistic awareness. Mejibray are just simply amazing. Eterno amor." "Meto marry me xdxDxd ♡♡ 💍" "is so beautiful cry...koichi smoke?....i love it is so beautiful" "purrrfucktion*!!! AS USUAL!!!! drools audio orgasms ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ *purrrfucktion = aka: perfection ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤" "I'M CUMMING HARD" "I think it is dedicated to Meto. Just at first he climbed the mountain, and then reached the top, and Rouen lifted into the air, and he stood, smiling. And then he threw his sticks into the air, and fell to his knees. He looked so happy. Could The End mean the end of his "puppet" of life? (there can be mistakes, but i can't translate from Russian well)" "Mejibray is my all time favorite band ever since i was into jrock 10years ago.. Please don't stop making awesome music :,( " (THIS IS THE BEST ONE(s) SO FAR) fxckmelxveme 'the end' It's about life itself ugh, if you knew some basic japanese and paid attention to lyrics you'd understand Levy Cerise Ugh, if you knew that not everyone knows Japanese or has time to look up the lyrics you'd understand what a total idiot you sound like. And this is from someone who speaks complex Japanese. Let me guess, you still use "あなた" and "私". Mermecolion Rekt. prince fuckboy youre right everyone speaks japanese Mermecolion +prince fuckboy Fukboi tho. "Flipping off the viewer. How edgy. sarcastic clap Also, these have got to be some of the ugliest outfits I've ever seen of MEJIBRAY. The only one that actually looks OK is MiA's, but that isn't surprising because we can all rely on MiA to be fabulous. This is sad, because both the song and the scenery are very pretty. For shame, MEJIBRAY, for shame." "didnt meto say he would commit suicide if there were no more mejibray? :(" "NO ONE CAN EVER REPLACE VERSAILLES. But, Mejibray displays its own beauty and well METO and MIA and Koichi are cute. PLus, compared to American rock this has more heart and balls hands down.
