Downloading western music: log into rutracker, download the band's entire discography in flac in just a few clicks. Downloading japanese music: search each album individually on MH, jpopsuki, soulseek, rutracker and random brazillion blogs, then spend half an hour finding the rar password and fixing the tags only to find out the rar was corrupted.

    Hey everyone!

Hello Everyone! I always wanted a place where i could meet people with the same interests as me, unfortunately, i don't know anyone who likes v-kei or Japanese music in general, so i'm really happy that i finally registered on MH! A forum that i knew for a long time but never registered because i'm a lazy guy e.e The bands i usually listen too are: Razor, DADAROMA, Mejibray, shellmy, luna sea, The Gazette, Royz, Disreign and jiluka (probably more but thats enough bands for a post) I know about v-kei for some years now but i only got really into it a couple of years ago. I play the guitar and the drums too ^^ I can't wait to meet and discuss music with all of you guys!

For a little preview, he's been kind of teasing: I'm pretty sure from the way he's been talking that he kept the rights to MeteoroiD's songs, too, so there's a good chance he'll play those.

I think a lot if people are being very overly negative and overly critical about this release. I mean it's not the best gazette release, but it's also not the worst. The reason this lacks the youthful energy these songs once had is because they're not in their youth anymore, they're in their mid-30's, and this album shows how they've developed as musicians over the past 15 years. I like that the tracks have been polished, the track list could've been better (they really missed out on Okuribi, and why pick 'UNTITLED'?) I dunno...maybe just picking out every single flaw in a gazette release rather than highlighting the good stuff about it is just the trend now.

    ViV

After Anfiel and FoLLoW @hirokimade me discover a new band, before I start to listen ViV I had a few apprehension about Hirohiro yes is true he is not the best vk singer, he don't have the most powerful voice or the most melodic voice but I don't find his voice weird and I think his voice has improved when you listen "BE THERE / MELODIES" single and "anagram / EMOTION". I hope RayJi will not retire and will continue, for me he is one of the best bassists in the vk scene if I make a top 10 of the best bassists it will be in the top 5, coz of him I want to replay bass, he is a amazing bass player on some songs he plays in counter melody or sometimes the bass take the lead and become more important than the guitar line, and I really understand why he sarted composing more technical songs for the band. It's a sweet pleasures for my ears to listen to the sound of his bass coz his bass lines are very technical (slides, hammer on/pulling off, slap, appoggiatura, etc....), like FoLLOW I have the same feeling, the feeling that they don't have the success they deserve @echo when you saw them for their last live you remember if RayJi played only with pick and like 99% vk bassit he only play with his finger when it's ballads songs /soft songs/mid-tempo songs or he alternates between the pick and his fingers ?

Liege Lord rules. Classic USPM! I gotta say that the USPM scene from the 80's are very underrated. So many good bands from that time and era. Attacker's Battle at Helm's Deep, Savage Grace's Master of Disguise, Helstar's Nosferatu, Jag Panzer's Ample Destruction, Griffin's Flight of the Griffin and Protectors of the Lair, Dark Age's Dark Age, Omen's Battle Cry, Manilla Road's Crystal Logic (and the majority of albums they released between 83-05), Medieval Steel's Medieval Steel, Abattoir's Vicious Attack, Iron Cross' Iron Cross, Brocas Helm's Into Battle and Black Death, *Crimson Glory's Crimson Glory and Transcendence, *Fates Warning's Night on Bröcken, The Spectre Within and Awaken the Guardian, *Warlord's And the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun...., *Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King and so on. Yeah, I think I'll stop now, but I could go on forever here. I love this scene to death. *The majority of these bands are what we nerds refer to as "blue collar" bands, which is much dirtier and grittier sounding than the traditional European PM bands of that time, but the bands marked with * are what we call white collar bands. They're often much more progressive and melodic than the blue, and a bit flashy at times.

Good to hear! Gonna check it today or tomorrow. Till then, a totally random find on YT. You probably know them already too, but that opening gave me a kick I needed~ I'm just listening to their 2nd album, awesome stuff. Gonna keep this 3rd one for last, sounds like this one's quite the energy-bomb.

I just couldn't let it slip, and been listening to their stuff since yesterday night, haha. So far the first album and the other random stuff around that era are my favorite by far. Excellent pure heavy metal joy. The 2nd album has its moments too, but I couldn't get into it much (I found the production to be kinda messy and overly noisy too, but maybe that's just the rip I managed to track down). Same for the 3rd one, only that one is actually downright boring at parts. Haven't checked out their 2012 album yet, but hoping it will kick my ass more than their mid-'80s stuff. Also, I didn't find Amulet as amazing as I thought I would, but they're still solid. I liked the demo a bit better than the album. But extra shout-out to "The Flight" - so cool '80s feeling synth interlude! (rarely does a random interlude catch my attention this much on a metal record, lol)

    Hello! :)

Hello all! I've known about this website for a while now, I've just never gotten around to making a account because I'm lazy XD I am a fan of Nightmare, The Gazette, Sendai Kamotsu, Kuroyume, Avanchick (minus Noah, the drama behind Noah is too much), I like what Luinspear released back in the late 90's/early 00's, I'm looking forward to seeing what MIZTAVLA bring to us too. I've been a fan of Visual Kei since around 2013/14 and I'm looking to expand my tastes in bands, and there's no better place to do that than here! Also, besides being a fan of Nightmare, there is a certain rant that I have about them, and I'd love to be able to share my thoughts with you all at some point! Anyways, I look forward to being a part of the community!

i know its not the appropriate location for reviews , but i need to say that 1. i appreciate them trying to hi-def-ing the old tracks into modern style (especially with the tracks from mid 2000's, tin-can snares were the worst) 2. i appreciate them trying to re-arrange and spice the old and new tracks to give them difference but 3. they literally murdered all tracks. the dead cold bodies were drowned to death by making all tracks sound a little 'slower', 4. and those little details in guitar tracks were snipped (those little accents in reila, without a trace, pledge, etc). it's like "oh what? weren't there suppose to be a →↗↘→") 5. i was dying to hear the new kare uta. . .. which happens to be the most decent re-arranged track amongst the rest of them. but the solo had that little off-melody end that disturbs me but all in all, kudos !

    Piercings

I had about 24 piercings at once the most, but some decided they don't want to stay with my body lol So I had 7 in my lip, tongue, a bridge, eyebrow, ears (no photos sry), bellybutton, nipple, dermal anchor, one in a very private area some already know this pic, but it shows my lip piercings the best. pls ignore this crappy wig, but since I had a major c disc crush about 2/3 years ago, I don't have a lot of pics anymore.

    THE JAPANESE INDIE THREAD

Not sure if ANY of this has been posted before, i'm too lazy to go through >15 pages of content just to post a bunch of vids, but i found some things ppl may like if they dont know about it already... Something about this band's sound somehow gives me アルカラ vibes, can't quite place what it is, though... But they sound cool Female-fronted band, don't know much about 'em, there's just two vids on their official YT account. Some pretty alright guitar noodling here and there though I'm 100% sure @CAT5has shared some of these guys' stuff on here in the past. Indie band whose sound (at least on their earlier material, IDK much about their newer stuff) for some reason sometimes reminded me vaguely of certain Angura Kei sounds This reminds me v. strongly of Hitorie, are they connected in some way?

Some may know me or still know me, some won't know me. I've been around since even before MH was moved to this forum. And I was absent for quite a few years. Since I'll go and study in Japan from August/September on and stay for a year, you can look forward to this time, 'cuz I love sharing and I'm thinking of offering a shopping service, etc.. I'll get to know where I am allowed to stay in the next few days(we have the luck of having associated universities), so as soon as I know it, maybe some of you guys also stay in Japan during my exchange and we can meet I'm editor for EN.CORE, which is an online magazine for Japanese Rock and Metal and I'm in charge of the VK section. Now, many of the MH members have a wide range of artists, music, etc., and we're always looking for new people. That's why I am posting now. Most of our staff is German, since our headquater is in Berlin, Germany, but we want to work all over the globe. So we have translation staff in Japan, photographers, editors, freelancers, technic department workers, aso.. We try to cover everything worth being looked at and we're looking for staff with a wide mind, a serious but passionate view on music, concerts, culture, aso.. And especially helpful would be people who live in the US or Asia, to represent us on different places. The name EN.CORE does not only apply to the encore after concerts, but also that we want to grasp the core of what we're working with. It's our main philosophy for everything we do. We are not a fan magazine, our aim is it to be suited for fans as well as musicians, to deliver good service beyond what your normal 'J-Rock magazine' comes up with. We wish to work with EN.CORE as a real job in the future, so everyone gives as much input as they can. In the near future EN.CORE will not only be available in English, but also in Japanese. We're on friendly terms with a lot of people from other magazines and we have reviews, interviews, concert reports etc. with for example HOTEI, Luna Sea, BORN, Tsukasa Mogamigawa, Crossfaith, Ladybaby, MONO, Hizumi (Umbrella Design) and many more. Click here to view EN.CORE If you're interested, pls don't hesitate to contact me here via PM, so we can talk about further details. I'd be very happy if you could answer a little survey, so that I have some points with which I can introduce you to my editor in chief Name: Age: Location: Musical interest: What do you want to offer? (Writing, photography, technical advise, managemental support, proofreading, etc.) Can you play an instrument? Are you in a band? Do you have skills/knowledge that can fit in our needs? Until now we can't pay a salary per se, but we get you the chances for interviews, free concerts which we will report about, aso.. If it's not okay to post this here, pls send me a message where I can post it Thank you!

    直樹(naoki)(DEATHGAZE) new band will form

dexcore will start a campaign 「月9コア (ゲツクコア)」 (Getsukucore) on their Youtube Channel, releasing a full chorus of new songs every weeks. The first is planned for 03/06 at 9.00pm. The others will follow as the same schema every monday at 9.00 pm. So there is 10 songs at the total ! (I guess we will have a preview for "Plant", "above the clouds", "造花" (Zouka), "Fake out")

lmao they got rid of him and disbanded just to come back with this basic shit?
  43. 1 point
they were just doing OK tbh they've plateaued and interest has been waning for a while imo. I've never seen them get more than a few rows getting into it at event lives. Most of their songs people just don't even bother with--they just wait for them to play kangoku rockmen. They really have never been able to get past being the The Kangoku Rockmen Band. The recording quality has really suffered since they left badegg box and the newest single was forgettable. they were pretty fun live (well, for the most part). I enjoyed seeing them whenever I did and hope I make it in time on Friday. live was way better than CDs imo. but I'm also in the camp that I just kind of accepted shiki's vocals. I hope they get a new vocalist but remember N@H is technically on hiatus too. So, I wonder if GIGAMOUS will come back at all.
  44. 1 point
tbh Shiki's vocals are something I just tolerate, I wouldn't mind seeing the band continue with a slightly better vocalist. But they're going on "hiatus" so they might just never come back. *sigh* I'm a big fan of their stripped-down garage band party rock style, which is unique in my limited stable of VK bands I like.
  45. 1 point
Why are you guys like that, as if they're put on the stake unjustly by default, when he hasn't released anything even remotely decent before DISREIGN? This fucking spot was uploaded like five minutes ago and I've seen nothing but praise. This and the last DISREIGN single are obviously on a whole another level of craftsmanship compared to anything that the weeaboos have ever put out. Yohio's Japanese is awkward, but he's a savage vk vocalist at this point and that's that. The compositions are almost, dare I say, ambitious on visual kei standards with their piano's and all nonsense and the chorus crushes most of the Japanese bands that do this style. I'm undisputably the most vocal person in my hatred of western visual kei, but I'm not taking no L's for this one. This whole scene was complete garbage right up until Karehasu, and now from the looks of things this band is just going to keep getting better, so good for them.

    ^^ PREACH IT PEOPLE <3
  47. 1 point
This is decent. Nothing mind-blowing, but nothing like the worst thing to ever happen to VK. I don't get all the hate YOHIO and co receive from foreign fans, if anything we should be excited that 'outsiders' are actually attempting to make a name for themselves in an essentially exclusively Japanese music scene.
  48. 1 point
Feel free to visit the suggestion forum. But you should get used to the idea of foreigners playing in Japanese bands. It's prevalent in every other style of Japanese rock. If the band is based in Japan it goes in the Japanese news sections. That's all there is to it.

Gackt was just one of three different singers Malice Mizer had, he had nothing to do with their breakup. Never heard that rumor before; 100% started by a western fan who was pulling stuff out of her ass. Anyone with a musical ear can tell that Mana and Kozi had no hand in writing Gackt's solo material. Apples and Oranges. Gackt was likely not at Kamis funeral for the reason listed in my reply below. I don't know what official statements Gackt, Mana, or Kozi have made because we don't really need to, ya know? None of them will tell you what occam's razor will, because it's not flattering to either party. Nippon Columbia decided that Malice Mizer were small potatoes and Gackt was the star. And they were right! Gackt wrote the highest charting single on Mervilles, Le Ciel, which also happened to be the most commercial song on the album. Gackt had the great voice, incredible looks, a legion of female fans and he wrote the biggest hit on the album. He was poised for stardom, Malice Mizer could hold him back. So Nippon Columbia put their money on Gackt solo and ditched the band, and their gamble paid off in spades. People tend to gloss over/forget, possibly due to Kamis death, that not only did Malice Mizer's label give Gackt a solo deal, but they dropped Malice Mizer. That wasn't a coincidence. It is what it is. I hate Gackt solo, but wouldn't trade Bara no Seidou or the Klaha singles for anything. I just wish we'd get one more album out of MM.... instrumental, with Klaha, a new singer... I don't care.
