Crazy fans: When is enough enough?

not that familiar with OOR, but aren't they big enough to actually do something about the same fans hogging the front row? most vk bands ban shikiri once they start doing lives at the bigger venues anyway, so i'm surprised OOR still has this problem. as for "crazy fans" in general: i draw the line at the point where a fan's display of affection for the band and/or its members intrudes upon other fans' ability to do the same. until that point, i wholeheartedly support fans who are comfortable with being as crazy as they want. yes i may have no idea what blackdoll is going on about 90% of the time, but it's her prerogative to say what she wants about Lycaon. if you love something/someone, just show it? tbh it bores the hell out of me to associate with people who are constantly hedging and checking themselves to make sure that they don't lapse into their 'fangirl' mode because that's somehow inappropriate. but really, for vk at least, many people can't seem to accept that music is only one part of the lived experience of a bangya, especially so if you happen to live in japan. i'm still astonished every time someone claims that only when you're level-headed enough to extricate yourself from the 'craziness' of the scene and be able to discuss the band's cadences and progressions (not even lyrics, mind you) in the same way a bunch of paleontologists examine fossil records with measured excitement can you finally be crowned a card-carrying Mature Fan. clearly the irony isn't lost on people who quite fearlessly denigrate other sections of the fanbase for their supposed 'elitism'.

i think visual kei fans should be institutionalized... but thats a topic for another day! while i like visual kei, i cant stand most of the scene surrounding it and find the fans pathetic. i feel the same towards kpop fans, idol fans and anyone who devotes incredible amounts of money and time towards musicians. i get it, its your time and you can enjoy your leisure however you want but it doesn't change how pointless of a hobby it is. a lot of ex-gya realize this, but between me and you, their attention-seeking personalities latch onto something equally stimulating for this purpose, whether it be hosts or other musical groups. why else do you see girls leaving bands once they become popular? because they no longer get the attention they seek from those dudes, as they're now busy with other things and can't prioritize their old fans like they could when they debuted. imma keep the rest of this to myself *kermit emoji*. This happens a lot among jp fans, thank god they acknowledge how sleezy the scene is...people in foreign fandom dont. In the case of vk, the mechanisms that allow for bandmen to become idolized regardless of relevance are quite different from say, a popular boyband's mob of fans but its the same in that case. its alright to be a fan of something and enjoy it, but if you think really hard about it, what does following a band or artist do for you? more importantly, what does it say about you? there's a reason gya are looked down upon, even by their fellow countrymen. the fact that westerns aspire to that is even worse, like you live in a country where women are slightly more empowered so that they dont feel their best accomplishment is that of following a band of crossdressers traveling the country to rehash slipknot songs YET you still want to do it? lmfao. NOW, this is all incredibly pointed but where it pisses me off is these same loony girls trying to come here and enforce that same shit they do in japan...bitch go hold your fucking president accountable for those damn nukes and leave our shows the way they are. until then, you can be crazy but its not my culture so i can observe u from a distance acting crazy...just dont bring that here and expect people to deal with it because you are amazing jouren no bitch u r a dollar bill for the band. keep in mind this isnt the majority of the people here, as we all like to observe from a distance while tossing some dollaz here and there....as for the minority of you crackheads this does apply to....god will find u at the heavenly gates and see how much ticket stubs you have left over at home and make a SWIFT decision. tl;dr: stop following bands and read a book, get an education, read up about politics, empower yourself because there are better things to do with your time. im a hypocrite...but only a bit

Crazy fans: When is enough enough?

From the many musical domains I have set foot on, I have personally experienced Visual Kei (or the Japanese fanbase in general) as being the very worst when it comes to its 'fans'. I absolutely do not wish to attack anyone by saying this, but the sheer amount of 'crazy fans' is just completely overwhelming and unhealthy, and regrettably the genre is one of those that is somehow attractive to those who often struggle in life or suffer from mental disabilities (myself included). It shows in the influence a fanbase has on bands and artists, take for instance last year's case of Femme Fatale; a bandmember supposedly cheated on his wife, and it was the fans' desire to see him punished — the man left the band and is never heard of again. I cannot wrap myself around the mindset so very present in the Visual Kei sphere; who are you —as a fan— to dictate a musician's life and decisions? Why is everyone so busy with others when they first have themselves to look out for? It is highly likely that in a person's general surroundings of family and friends, people take pleasure in debauchery, or maybe the fan himself or herself has made general mistakes in life. Do you turn your back on everyone who does differently? Why chastise another human being who is by default prone to make mistakes? Any 'scandal' in Japan leads to disaster and can completely ruin an artist's reputation, and sadly this showcase of completely berating artists over their personal lives has become popular with non-Japanese fans as well. As is said above, Koreans take it even a step further. As the name implies, Visual Kei is unfortunately less about the music, and moreso about the participants themselves, and the genre has therefore grown into an uncomfortable, defensive business where it is mandatory to display a certain territorial behaviour over musicians, or a complete disdain toward others. There exists an extreme concept of bandwagonism where people are unaware of their own behaviour and merely portray themselves as such because this is the norm. For when you stray from this norm, you are chastized and abhorred, and disliked for your difference in opinions. It is therefore very attractive to jump on board and do as others do as to not be targeted, which blows this phenomena up even larger. I have experienced violent behaviour during concerts which was absolutely unnecessary, purely because some people believe they are the only ones priviliged enough to see their favourite artists live. Hair being pulled, being kicked, scratched and even bitten, pieces of clothing being torn from artists their outfits, etc. I can imagine this behaviour would have taken place during a Michael Jackson concert, but to display it during every small concert where there is plenty opportunity to share a word with the band afterwards, it is even more unacceptable. Truthfully, I cannot recall any such behaviour in other musical genres in which I wandered and as soon as I walked through the curtain into this world, I became confused. I cannot remember people wanting to see Axl Rose removed from this planet because he, say for example, slept with four girls at once, if anything, people'd give him a nod of approval. If any Japanese or Korean artist's sex-life is exposed, expect hell to be unleashed on earth, and expect them to never touch music again because of how awfully influential their fanbases are and how easily these 'fans' turn on these artists and make sure their lives are ruined. Surely, a band or artist thrives on their fans and they are a neccessary component in the industry — but to let things come this far is just unheard of. I do however recall telling other fans that I am uninterested in the personal lives of musicians, and they'd look at me as if I'd grown three extra heads. Why? Isn't it completely normal that you do not concern yourself with a stranger's private business? In the end, I am glad that an artist addressed the erratic and elitistic behaviour of these alleged fans and makes sure that international fans are just as welcome to share the experience of attending Japanese concerts.

So I'm posting this here since I have no idea where else. Anyway, I decided, why not make a meme of Dir En Grey, and I got this idea. Tsumi To Batsu, but every time Kyo screams, the pitch shifts and the audio distorts Yes, I know it's crappy, but IDC xD

I managed to sit through the whole thing, and it does not get better. It was very disappointing as the art style is wonderful, but the story (what story?) truly brings it down immensely. It has already reached cult-status however, due to its 'avant-garde pacing' and 'realistic nature' of a group of children unable to progress in strength. For myself, I am currently taking on Onihei, Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation, ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka and Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen. The rest of this season goes entirely against my tastes as I do not believe I have seen anything else non-magical girl, school-settings or harems / ecchi. Probably an all-time low, but the ones that I am watching are making up for it quite well.

Crazy fans: When is enough enough?

Just read any @blackdollpost and you get what's enough. I don't really think artists are in the wrong by calling out borderline stalker fans, but it's a double-edged sword; some people will understand it for what it is (people trying to stop others from being invasive) and others will see it as artists going against their fanbase. In Taka's case, for example, there's a big chance of the latter happening - and when you consider how massively popular ONE OK ROCK is in Japan right now, it's probably gonna be quite a big PR nightmare. Koreans are on another level though. Run a quick search and you can find some crazy stories, from people sending idols letters with period blood + pubic hair from "antis" actually poisoning idols and risking their life (like what happened to Yunho from DBSK once for example).

So I started watching a new anime this season called Kuzu no Honkai. That title interested me because its (official) translation is basically "Scum's Wish" and that's not something you see everyday lol. The trailer doesn't do it any justice; it makes it seem like any other romance anime so I wasn't sure whether to watch it or not... but hey, it's a noitaminA show so it's worth a try at least. In the end, it was different than I thought it would be! The main characters don't seem to be the nicest people and there's an interesting premise: they both are in love with someone who doesn't love them back, so they're going out with each other to be those people's replacement for each other. It's a bit messed up and surprisingly NSFW (especially for a noitaminA show), but strangely endearing. It has some light-hearted humor but not too much, most of the episode was narrated by the protagonist and that's nice. Some of the lines remind me of manga, and it's probably on purpose since there are also some manga-like panels thrown in. It was a good first episode overall, I'll definitely keep watching it. Apparently the manga is still being published, but the whole anime is set to have 11 episodes. I also finally watched Litle Witch Academia's movies! I really like them, so I'm gonna start the TV series soon too.

You also can check it on jmusicstrike: https://jmusicstrike.wordpress.com/2017/01/26/review-acid-black-cherry-recreation-4/ Acid Black Cherry finally released Recreation 4. The album was a bit delayed, because yasu had once again problem with his voice, however as great he is, he delivered again something great towards us, after a long time of 0 CD releases. TRACKLIST 01. 青空 (THE BLUE HEARTS / 1988年) ★ 07. フライングゲット (AKB48 / 2011年) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 11.M (プリンセスプリンセス / 1989年) ★ 12.Tomorrow never knows (Mr.Children / 1994年) ★ ★ ★ ★ Please also listen to the original songs, because then you also would understand why I wrote some things. However overall this album is nice and very much pop. 01. 流星のサドル – 久保田利伸 / 1986 I didn’t know the original song, I never did hear it before. This song is a pure pop song. yasu tuned this song up with a bit more rocking sound, it’s a bit more heavy and also this song really fits his voice. He really beat the original with his own version. 02.星空のディスタンス – THE ALFEE / 1984 THE AFLEE is a very famous Japanese band. With many hits on their name. The original song is a nice mix of pop and rock sound, more to the pop side, but it really has a good vibe which sticks into your head and you never will forget that you have listen to this song once. yasu’s version has some newer elements inside which they didn’t add that long ago, which gives the song a totally 2017 vibe, also the way yasu is singing this song is also stunning totally fits it. yasu has put this song nicely into a new jacket. 03.輝きながら… – 徳永 英明 / 1987 While listing to the original first, damn that version already let me shiver, it’s so beautiful. How can someone even sing this greater? I doubt that it’s possible, however with a good voice with nice feelings inside it could turn into a great cover. yasu’s voice is nice and high, so yes this song fits his voice. Also yasu’s version can let you shiver, however the original feeling I got while I did listen to the original isn’t that strong so I still do prefer the original version. But yasu’s version is also great! 04.三日月 – 絢香 / 2006 I really don’t like the original, this song has a beautiful lyric, but I really don’t like the way how Ayaka does sing this song, it totally doesn’t though my heart at all. However yasu’s version totally makes this sound great he created a cover how this song should have sound like. Also maybe it’s more a song which should have sung by a guy? So yes this song is a good choice to put on this album. 05.CLOUDY HEART – BOØWY / 1985 BOØWY is still one of Japan most famous artist. The original song has a nice catchy song and it totally fits the vocal, wasn’t this song one of BOØWY‘s most famous song? However the original doesn’t give you a shiver feeling. Still it’s really nice and easy to listen too. But the original is strong of melody, the melody of the guitar really can let though your heart. And that melody has been kept in the version of yasu. Also the way yasu sings this song gives the song also a more shiver feeling, he does sing this song with much more feeling. It totally fits his voice as he wrote this song himself. 06. 青空 – THE BLUE HEARTS / 1988 I love THE BLUE HEARTS because of the voice of the vocalist, his voice has an unique rawness. Which made THE BLUE HEARTS totally special and great beside their amazing written music. So yes I can imagine why yasu did choose this song. The lyric of this song is also beautiful and amazing and it has a catchy music. However… yasu really does sing this song beautifully but the original feeling is totally gone. yasu tuned this song into a way too much pop song. Also yasu’s voice doesn’t fit this song because he doesn’t have that “raw” voice which this song actually need. For me personally it’s a pity that he didn’t tune this song into a more heavy song. It’s a totally different song now and the feeling has been gone which made this song originally “perfect”. 07.青春のリグレット – 松任谷 由実 / 1985 This song is original sung by a woman, which truly sounds amazing. Which gives me the feeling of that this song is only for “female” to cover. However since yasu has a high voice it also kinda fits yasu, but still I think this song doesn’t fit him. The melody is kind of the same only a bit more up-tuned. The song is nice, but surely not the best cover. 08.私はピアノ – サザンオールスターズ / 1980 The original song really sounds as a song of that time, a typical old pop song. Let’s see how yasu turned this song into a more song of this time, when you start this song you hear that it got mixed with elements of the past and elements of now. Also Yasu’s voice fits this song much better than the original female vocal. I also notice while listing to this song that yasu has definitely got some inspiration out of this song, which he used in some of his ABC songs. But yes, its a good cover, however not a really beautiful song. 09.Forget-me-not – 尾崎 豊 / 1985 Forget-me-not is one of words most beautiful song ever. The original is sung with so many feelings. Feelings which go deep into your own heart. The song even can let you cry easy. Beautiful from the highest level. To cover this song is one of the highest risks ever. However, the way yasu cover this song it’s as so good as you listen to the original. I still do prefer the original but yasu really put the feelings inside this song need, also he didn’t really mess up with the melody, which keep the power of this amazing song. From all songs on this album, this song is the best. It’s impossible for not liking this song. 10.フライングゲット – AKB48 / 2011 AKB48? for real Yasu? Okay, AKB48 have nice songs, but come on. This song is a typical happy shit female pop group song. One of the most annoying song of this girl band. It’s impossible to create a nice cover of this song or it should be tuned up into Heavy Metal or something more dark…. So let’s listen what you did…. And, yasu turned this song into a heavy ROCK song! The style really reminds me of Janne Da Arc. I’m glad that yasu did choose to put this song in a heavy rock jacket, because if he would have made this song into a pop song, I guess then I wouldn’t like it? This song still have it own original elements however the heaviness really tunes in this song into much more greatness. This is the most stunning cover on this album which really blow me away in a really good way! 11.M – プリンセスプリンセス / 1989 The lyric from this song is strong and heartbreaking, but melody wise it is a simply and a weak song which don’t really o into my mind, it’s a song which I would skip all the time. yasu created a different kind of background melody, which still don’t sound good into my ears however it sounds better than the original, still it can’t keep my attention, however the way yasu sings this song is again beautiful. 12.Tomorrow never knows – Mr.Children / 1994 This song is very calm, I don’t even know if I like the original, however I do like many songs of Mr.Children, they are also one of Japans best band. yasu’s version has a much strong beat which gives this song a much stronger vibe which also gives a feeling that this is a brand new song. Also yasu’s voice gives this song a stronger image, you can hear and feel much more feelings. COVER STARS: ★ ★ ★ ★ PERSONAL TASTE STARS: ★ ★ yasu, really created again a strong cover all, his versions are also beautiful however not all though my heart and some of them are too soft for me to like. However I do love his voice and those who love more pop songs will surely love this album. Some of the songs yasu did cover I would play over and over again. I myself I’m more a heavy rock/metal fan, but I’m always glad if someone introduce me to older Japanese pop songs, because we often forget how beautiful those songs also are. Favorite Track: Forget-me-not followed by CLOUDY HEART. Least Favorite: M and 青空 Most stunning track: フライングゲット

    Hi everyone~

Hi there~ ^^ So I found this forum some time ago already and finally got the courage to make an account as well... haha. I'm actually still kinda new to this whole visual kei / jrock thing, I only got properly into it like half a year ago or something, but I'm really glad I did. Some of my favorite bands are SuG, Mediena (though they sadly disbanded already T.T), Rides In Revellion, Damy, Dezert and Mejibray. I hope I can find many more awesome bands through these forums too, hehe ^^ Aside from jrock I'm also really into some metal bands like Amon Amarth, Powerwolf, Sabaton, Turisas, and even some kpop groups like Bangtan... ^^' Anyway, I hope I'll have a good time here

I dunno - bands like Lin, Scarlet Valse, Misaruka, Dear L'Novel, Megaromania all come to mind, and I'm sure I'm missing quite a few others who never made it. It seems to me that whenever a band wants to go the whole "tanbi-kei" thing they go symphonic metal, rather than the softer stuff like Lareine. (Though I guess it's only natural that Sui would keep with the sound he established in Megaromania, lol.)

    Hey all

Hey So I entered the forum some years ago with the main intention of helping with my social phobia, I guess no one knows me because I left it but now I'm back hopefully to stay. May I ask you to please be nice to me? I feel sick to my stomach when I receive a response online.......... I felt the need to start another introduction topic because I think I changed a lot during this time, this is kind of a new start to me, I can delete my old post (or can I?) if it's wrong to start another one. I'm also kind of dumb and awkward, so don't mind some weird things I may say or do, sorry in advance... I like mostly heavy stuff, be it rock, metal, electronic/industrial, punk, things that end in core, I love the screaming and the noises, but most things are disappointing me, specially in JRock, I was thinking of migrating to other genre like grindcore until I found Deviloof, so I'm giving it another chance... I also like discovering new genres like thall, japanoise or whatever and watching different and unusual things (Die Antwoord is a guilty pleasure of mine...), so if you find anything interesting and feel like sharing with someone, here I am~ My favorite bands are Dir en grey, Plastic Tree, Kagrra,, Mucc, Nocturnal Bloodlust (which reminds me that probably Deviloof will enter this list), The Piass, Sukekiyo, Kiryu, Ikd-Sj and recently I discovered Xaa-Xaa, Archemi and Kuroyuri To Kage, that I'm liking a lot too. I love traditional japanese things, so if you know more bands that use japanese instruments I'll appreciate if you show it to me. I'll also appreciate if you can recommend me more heavy bands like NB and Deviloof... I hope it wasn't a waste of your time to read what I wrote, thanks for reading it.
