Last night Anfiel held their biggest oneman live yet at Shinjuku BLAZE (capacity 800) to commemorate the band's 2nd anniversary!!!! It was wonderful to have Hal back just in time for such an important occasion (he missed their last few lives/instores) :'DDD So many people were there to see them!!!! (photos below) I can't put into words how proud I am of these guys T_______________T Here's the setlist As expected they began with lamplight and rounded off the encore with timeless. By this point pretty much every anfiel fan i know can remember the lyrics of timeless by heart and like everytime we sing it we just die. Also, sense of wonder was supposed to be the last song in the main set but the members suddenly decided to perform Aqua before the encore <333333333333333 I guess the fans really wanted to hear it??? I don't understand why people still idolize serial killers, especially in this day and age. They send these criminals letters in prison like it's fanmail, but they also fangirl about them on social media as they would their favorite band or whatever. I even have a friend who idolizes Richard Ramirez and reblogs pictures of him on tumblr like he's some hot guy or something. I'm a huge fan of crime stuff, and I was quite fascinated by certain serial killers, but because of how evil they really are, it never escalated to the point of admiration for them. What we often forget is that these people actually killed, ie, took the lives of other people and destroyed their families, usually with no remorse for their actions. How would these families feel, knowing that their loved ones' killer is being treated as just another popular figure and having lots of fans? The media coverage on serial killers definitely doesn't help, as it gives them more exposure and notoriety, and inspires more would-be killers who are looking to achieve that same notoriety. Looking at all this, it's no surprise that we're probably the leading nation for most homicides. We have got to stop romanticizing murderers so this kind of shit would happen less often and that the world would be more safe and definitely more sane. And that's my thought for tonight.

Not too fond about that new Nergal project, even though it's enjoyable (i.e. I'd rather get a new Behemoth album, but to each his own). Will definitely keep an eye on it though, and see how it evolves. And despite hugely disliking the music video, I find the last part of it to be quite interesting/intriguing. Will start checking out your list, Bear! From what you've written, there seem to be some interesting stuff there. Will be reviewing them (sort of) in my next post. In the meantime, here are a few of my honorable mentions! I picked up only three releases, since two of them are full-lengths and one is a 44 minutes long EP. Árstíðir Lífsins — Heljarkviða Tbh I didn't know about this band until very recently, and I'm glad they came across my path. They're a black folk metal band from Iceland, and knowing this, you should get ready to be mind blown. I don't think there's much to say, really. If you're familiar with the band, you know what to expect. If not, then you'll love this EP. Simple as that. → Stream the full EP on Youtube Setentia — Darkness Descent Technical death metal from New Zealand with some enjoyable atmospheric parts here and there, and a cool avant-gardiste touch. I would not blame you to compare this with Ulcerate, even though you'll be wrong to reduce this band's music to such an easy comparison. It's amazing how this dudes manage to put their own signature in their music, to make it sound like it does; incredibly good. Definitely one of my faves of 2016! → Stream the album on bancamp Earth and Pillars — Pillars I Discovered this Italian atmospheric/ambient black metal band in 2014 with their fantastic debut album titled "Earth I". What is funny is that I wasn't even aware that they had planned to deliver some new material, so I was very excited to check this new album out. Did I enjoy did? I surely did, hell yes. It's brilliant, I loved it. And if you do appreciate this genre, you'll surely enjoy this album as much as I did. → Stream the album on bandcamp That was it for me!

Yeah, they did play in Budokan. I kind of noticed that a lot of bands that were big, when I got into VK (which are still going) now are hardly heard of. I guess it's just a matter of them being overshadowed by young bands gaining in popularity. Also fans grow up and change their tastes in music. Not a lot of people can stick to their faves for, let's say, ten years.
