    Wow, yall been in this thread trippin'. How about EVERYONE calm down just a tad? I could give a shit about PT or Ryu's solo (sorry benibb), but there's no need to get excited to the point that you feel you can be insensitive. The quality of plastic tree's recent output is certainly up for debate, but do be mindful that your opinion on the matter is not fact and that others will feel differently.

    Here we go again with this "real fan" bullshit. Supporting a band does not mean we can't be critical of their output. Not enjoying certain music is not the same as not understanding it. Seriously, how hard is it to understand this? As for Pura, there have been glimpses of great music here and there over the last few years, but overall I feel like their music has stagnated since perhaps Donna Donna. Their last singles do sound extremely similar to one another. It feels lazy. This sample of Ryutaro's solo album, even though it's extremely short, has already sounded fresher than any of their last release, which says a lot.

    I know that I need deadlines to push the best out of me. I get stuff done otherwise too, but having less time to finish things does wonders for my work. No matter how "artificial" those deadlines might be. I guess part of the reason is that I have to commit more time to painting in a shorter timespan, so I reach a certain flow state easier. When it comes to challenges like inktober, you know it's only one month, so that may make it easier to push yourself to work every single day, where as normally many might take days off. Then there is also the community aspect to inktober too, which I love. Having said that, I didn't take part in Inktober, I knew from the start of the month I was gonna be too busy for this : / Respect to you guys for going through it! plastic_rainbow. I've been following your stuff on tumblr and you've got some amazing pieces done! ^^ Hakoniwa, I like your stuff too. That portrait with the sunglasses is my favourite. Mario's expression is pretty sinister too

    wasn't rinkaku their own label? im guessing it was some offshot of bloom, unless they decided to go independent after shedia. so either they're going independent or moving onto a better label, and im guessing the latter based off this hehe (the new ohp is a lot nicer than their past one)

    Was thinking about making this thread sooner or later~ Seen any cool Halloween costumes from visual kei bands this year? Or any costumes from previous years? Since October is already almost over, let's not limit this thread to Halloween only. Any jrockers cosplaying in general is also welcome! So please share all your favorites! ^0^ I'll start of with a few of my favorites: Plastic Tree, from left to right: Akira as Jack Skellington, Kenken as Cat Woman, Ryutaro as Edward Scissorhands, Tadashi as Emily from Corpse Bride Kenken without the mask, now that's hawt Ryutaro's side band Neji as jiangshi vampires. Vivalet, Mary as Cloud Strife Scapegoat, Haru as jiangshi vampire. Scapegoat, Sayula as Alice, Layha as Mad Hatter. BLESSCODE, Ryo as Chucky from Child's Play. Now post away!     Hey, thanks! That makes me happy to read There was a time when we had the entire discography translated -- but when we looked back after getting a better understanding of Jojo's lyric-writing style, we decided there was a lot of junk. Unfortunately we lost the spark of motivation to get back to revising everything. BUT, I did bring a new mod on recently who should be helping get the site back up to speed when they settle in. And I'll keep trying to update when I can, but alas, life.

    Because every time this happens it ends up that one of the members ran away and didn't tell anyone ended up sick at someone's house for a few days and is fine had family issues he needed to deal with They almost never end up dead in a ditch somewhere. This sounds a lot like #1, especially with the loans business. They aren't getting that money or equipment back because if I were him and I needed money I would have pawned your shit a long time ago Himitsu Kessha Codomo A style. Hopefully they get some answers but a lot of these bands seem like they walked into a discord chat and typed "lf guitarist 4 vk" and picked the first person to reply who could play scales. If they don't even ~know~ him that well it might be over.

    So tonight TRA TRA TRA dressed up for their live since it's Halloween. I was kind of surprised they didn't play KAMIKAZE, but this setlist was really fun! <333 I honestly don't know how to feel about Hiroki's costume LOL He makes a damn good Harley Quinn though?? And he was really in character. lol he was chewing bubble gum the whole live and during the MC said how it was difficult cos his hair kept flying into his mouth and getting stuck in the gum lolol I don't really get why Ryo only painted half his face...lol Some more picspam <33333 I pretty much died when Hiroki walked out on stage. Like I guessed he would be Harley Quinn cos Omi hinted that he'd be the Joker and after Hiroki said he was crossdressing... BUT I STILL WASN'T READY FOR IT LOL After their set they all walked off stage. Hiroki strutted off last, but they locked the door on him so he couldn't get out LOL he kind of frantically tried the door like 3-4 times and finally just rapped himself up in the curtain to hide lololol <333 I think a lot more people were getting into them. Sounded like Hiroki got a pretty good reaction for his costume haha. Hopefully they've gained some fans!!

    I agree with everything @Hakoniwa said. Even if you consider yourself an artist and love drawing, there are always times when your juices run dry and you don't draw for days, weeks, or months. The way I mostly see it though, these kinds of challenges give way to trying new things and going out of one's comfort zone, which is always a good thing. It isn't just an excuse to draw. It's a way of exploring further with what you can do with your skills. And it can be all very fun in the process!

    I mean, PT's always been one of my most-liked Japanese bands, but to be quite honest, in recent years I've felt that their looks and cover art have consistently been more interesting than their actual musical output, at least in terms of singles, so... IDK. This move back to a more wall of noise-type shoegaze sound just feels refreshing again. It's not something you often run into in the VK scene. Last time I remember something like that being vaguely present in PT's music is in the background of 影絵's chorus part and 木霊, but other than that any recent other material w/ that specific vibe escapes me Asking for a disbandment's just hyperbole based on hype on my part, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't more than down for Pura to at least go on some sort of hiatus (however brief) to cure this [generic PT single A-side] issue the band appears to have been suffering from since like... The singles leading up to Ink, at least

    X Japan is the most "well-known" I'd say, but if we are talking in terms of fans I'm pretty sure that Dir en grey has the advantage by far in the overseas fandom. It's pretty similar in Japan, almost everyone knows X but few are die-hard fans, while for a band like Dir en grey most people you will find who knows of them are pretty invested in them as well. The whole household generic rock band vs. a niche artist deal that you're bound to find whenever discussing western artists too. When it comes to quality I have no doubt in my mind that Dir en grey is the more consistent artists. X Japan had a short period of brilliance that they've been living off ever since while Dir en grey has released consistently good material for almost 20 years now.
