    Thought I should say hi

So, well, I've wanted to join here for quite a while now, but have never had enough confidence to do it. I've actually, just today, decided to join as many social community things (sig..) as I could to try to socialise with the people I want to talk with more (even though I have no clue how to do ANY of these stuff on the internet....), but seeing as I known no one where I live who likes VK and Japanese music in general. So that's why I've decided now to join up here, in a random moment of feeling both scared and excited... So please go easy on me if I say something dumb or wrong, I just want to join in with you guys. There's too many awesome people here so, even though I'm shaking, I'd like to chat with you all as much as I can and make friends and just chat about what we all love. So thanks for reading my pretty dumb introduction, hah, don't let me bore you, run along now or I might just be overwhelmed if anyone replies. xD Anyway, enjoy your day and see you around (love reading comments from everyone so I'll still probably stay on the sidelines still anyway xD) Aha, well, take care and everything.

We NEED a Lycaon party already! I never even realised how many fans there were on here of theirs! <3 I'm really happy we all have similar tastes and I can chat this much now, I'm not regretting joining. Haha, most of the time? Wow, you followed me? >< It's so plain at the moment on both things, sorry, hope I don't disappoint. You're my first friend on both. xD Thank you for having me, please continue your participation here and have fun too! I finally feel like I do, I've never typed so much/so quickly before haha. Thanks so much for having me too and giving me a lovely welcome too, I really mean it!

I know there's a similar thread for everything on the forum, but I thought physical copies and merch deserved its own thread. Pictures of you stuff is always a positive. Went to this record thing today where lots of people have stands and sell their shit, and I ended up with the following: Vinyl: Don Peake ‎– The Hills Have Eyes (soundtrack) Roberto Donati ‎– Mangiati Vivi! / Eaten Alive! (soundtrack) Steve Moore ‎– Horror Business (soundtrack) Tape: Don Peake ‎– The Hills Have Eyes (soundtrack) Soundtracks is the shit. Will try to add some photos when I have my shitty-ass phone around.

Hey guys, What songs either mean something to you, or bring memories and feelings up to the surface whenever you listen to them? Some for me to get the ball rolling: BUCK TICK - Dress Always a song that feels deep and hopeless, reminds me of sad times. Gackt - Secret Garden The song that originally made me a huge fan. It resonated with me, and even now when I listen to it, it seems so true. Alice-Nine - Cradle to Alpha I listened to this track and the album it was on non-stop a short while after it came out. Listening to this reminds me of how distant the me I want to be is, and how hard I have to work to get there, and live out the life I truly want to. TM Revolution - Tomorrow Meets Resistance (U:C2 Ver.) I remember listening to this while waiting out under the hot sun to meet some dumb girl. Good times, listening to this reminds me of that and cheers me up. Abingdon Boys - (The Entire First Album) This album seemed so fresh, and so real to me. Still to this day, it seems like the feelings expressed on it are completely bare and true, nothing is hidden. Please share some of yours!

    Hello.

Hi everybody ! First, since english isn't my mother tongue, I apologise for any mistakes ! So, I'm Lustair (from ex.Lamiel Yuina's band), I'm french and in visual kei since quite a long time now... I spent the last 7years exploring more and more deeply into the visual kei history until the point that I can't find bands I never listened to any more... But they still remain ! There is a lot (all pretty old and absolutely not famous indies bands, like "La fille male garder"), It just became very difficult to find any CDs or demo tape any more. By the way, I'm not in the current visual kei scene except few bands like emmurée, ・・・。[silence], ALSDEAD (I can't explain why but I like this band since the release of "puzzle"...), Lynch, and the godfathers like DEADEND, Luna sea, Kuroyume. In my opinion currently there is quite interesting bands too but they all sound the same for me cause' of the chords they use and the vocalists do too much and don't sound natural at all. But of course I'm still following the visual kei scene's news. I didn't use english for a long time, I think it will become better with a bit of practice...! Nice to meet you !

    Best album intros/outros

Do you remember my album opener and closer threads? Good - because Pretsyboi is getting all active posting-wise, albeit "still playing safe" as usual. What are the opening/closing SEs (or in formal English, intros and outros) you cherish the most? We are going with the same rules as in my previous threads, but hey - repetition is the mother of all learning: When I say "intros/outros", think of them through everyday context: usually short-ish, minimal-ish and "preparing"/"finishing" piece of certain album etc. - so make sure that you put pieces that are considered as these in common knowledge or by musicians themselves (they tend to mark these as "SE"s in Asian/Japanese (?) music, FYI) - AND 4 POSTS PER PERSON/POST as usual. No "nationality/language-based limitations" here, btw - so feel free to post anything non-Asian too (as in my older threads) OP starting: 1) Dir en grey - Kyokotsu no Nari (from "DUM SPIRO SPERO") This album is something that radically divides people into two parts - those who love it, and those who hate it with passion. Despite these differences, I have seen many people - including myself, warming up to this introductory piece. Starting out with quite dissonant, partial piano playing - and moving on with almost apocalyptic mix of ambient-ish synths, low-tuned guitars and Kyo doing his "best Gollum impersonation" til the end...I might not be necessarily "digesting" this album that well, but god this is one hell of a hype track - despite being an intro only. Many pluses to "Kyokotsu" for sounding even creepier/more immense during lives! 2) Versailles - Sound in Gate (from "JUBILEE") "Soul Calibur intro avec cheesy fantasy narration" aside, this track can be basically anything - an intro, outro or even just an interlude to something majestic! Kamijo and co. managed to position this track into such place, where it feels like JUBILEE is basically going full circle (and thus possibly making listener go for a nth round). Talk about careful planning! 3) Merry - Sasurai RHAPSODY (from "Modern Garde") *whistles* talk about a classic-sounding start for a good vk classic! Merry always managed to make some goodie interludes, and this is no exception (as many "vk veterans" know it already). So get your jazz hands ready and hum/whistle along! 4) Kagrra, - Miyako (from "Miyako") Very mysterious, immense introductory number from Kagrra - I don't dig them that much, but boy - they do have some hidden gems! No "faux-Japanesque" merrymaking here, folks! S'il vous plaît! ps. in case you can't find your favs in YT, google "tunestotube" and use it for uploading your tracks...

    Thought I should say hi

I saw about 9 users on just recently and was going to join it but.. I felt like I'd be intruding. >< But now that you're inviting me, I'm chuffed, I'd love to join! Haven't spoken this much to anyone in ages wow aha. You KNOW you had the time of your life if your shoulders and neck hurt! Only, just, prevent yourself from headbacking for a bit now, keep your head on, you know? Aha. Hmm, what, what? WHAT. Probably overreacting a bit, sorry, but, there are angels on Earth. ;_; I'll be sure to thank kyoselflove too, it appears the sweetie is following my Tumblr. :0 Thanks so much, I'll be dashing over there and soon as I can! Really excited! You're too kind! No longer afraid now, I've stopped shaking seeing as I keep commenting on any thread which isn't too old (Might be wrong but, I thought you can't do that..?) So yeah! xD Really happy to be reassured so much and to know everyone enjoys their time here. I would hug you right now, you know? I haven't spoken to a Plastic Tree fan before, and they've been my favourites for about.. two years? Again, I know I'm a bit of a late listener but they've always been that special band. So I am ever so thrilled to finally meet another fan I might be able to talk to?

Too much headbanging for me XD Have you btw seen that Lycaon discography thread (started by me)? I love how experimental this band is, even though they have had some ups and downs. Satoshi has always impressed me with his vocals and the band as a whole, even though they sound rather 'western' (<- might be a wrong term I'm using, sorry) at times, I am still always impressed by them. Really happy to have seen fans enjoying MONSTER and upcoming releases so much! Better keep updated with them, missing out on so much urg!

I feel like god damn crying, sorry. xD I'm such a fail on other forums I've tried to talk on, thank you all for welcoming me and everyone else who joins here. You're all lovely. Oh my gosh, for 4 whole years? Ah, I totally understand, I was actually just going to do that before I saw others had actually commented on here and I felt much more comfortable. I'm real glad you decided to come out too then, I feel like a weirdo for saying this, but I've seen you around a lot too. xD (not a stalker, I swear!) Yeah, I really do! D'espairsRay was one of the first I listened to, along with The Gazette (Is it actually a capital E at the end? I totally forget, sorry fans), the vocals are amazing. Oh sure, of course, please do so! You'll be my first friend on there in 9 months. xD I love looking at others' on there too because of similarites, only to be to worried about bringing it up with them.. but now that I know you're a fan, I'll be nosey too! I'll try to scrobble more often as well (seeing as that's all I do on the computer, I should start up again ><). I remembered correctly, thank god! Aha, I feel like the fanbase is so positively big when I see reactions/comments from others, and it makes me even happier hearing others' experiences seeing them live. Like I asked paradoxal, would you mind telling me anything about the live when you're free? Because I've never been to one, I just would love to hear/read about it! What? This feeling is mutual? Oooh, thank you, such a freak, sorry (and this wall of text, sorry) YES GIRFRIEND, YES. Awoi are one of my top ones! I'd marry Otogi's and Karma's voices haha (I think I have a voice fetish or something urg). I'm really delighted to read that, thank you. (I don't know if this has been asked, I'll check before coming back here but, because I'm new, am I still able to thank everyone on this thread and not leave anyone out? Like, no limitations?)

Welcome to MH! I hope you enjoy your time here. No need to feel self conscious, we're all different types around here. I feel some of your pain about posting in a new forum. I was a member here for years and only lurked about. Maybe 4 years before I ever said anything besides "thank you!" ... I see you like D'espa and DELUHI. I love them too. <3 Also, do you mind if I add you on last.fm? I'm always looking for more friends there (I'm nosey and like to see everyone's music taste hehe). ^^

I also love that D'LORE track, Rocketeer. I miss that band something fierce. I was about to start a thread similar to this but glad I searched for one first. The songs that get me through dark times tend to stick with me the most, but there are a couple that remind me of certain times or people that effected me in a unique way. I tried doing a little write up for each track but some of it is just so personal I'm not comfortable putting it out for everyone to see, that, and this post became a novel so I deleted it. orz Dir en grey - "Cage" xTRiPx - "limpid" (the original, but since I can't find the original on youtube you get the re-recorded version here) bis - "Start" MUCC - "我、在ルベキ場所" the GazettE - "Discharge" Pay money To my Pain - "Another Day Comes" ONE OK ROCK - "Liar" coldrain - "NEVER LOOK AWAY" Not exactly chronological order, but close. And you can see when my interests shifted out of vk... lol. But yeah. All of these songs bring up some strong memories. First times, last times, times you'd rather not remember....

Yeah, I agree with Tetora. Resistar Records is doing some pretty good management. Their bands are all becoming kinda famous in Japan, which makes me glad to see that LEZARD joined their sublabel. Too bad they only invest in bands that kind of have the same sound. They should give a try to bands with different styles, other than focusing only on those colorful bands. And I really hope Blu-BiLLioN keeps playing in big venues, because they deserve it, unlike most of the VK bands that play in big venues nowadays.

    摩天楼オペラ - AVALON

Great review Tetora, I mentioned this briefly on my Tumblr and I would have to say I pretty much agree with your review. It definitely is a concept album, a type of album I think they perfected with Gloria and honestly they didn't touch Gloria with this one. Just for perspective: Gloria is one of my all time favorite albums and definitely my favorite MO album. That being said I love MO and they are probably my second favorite band of all time in general so it really is hard for them to disappoint me. In any case, I would have to put this album on a lower end of the scale than their other albums... There were a lot of songs that I skip frequently. Some I want to grow on me but mostly I think songs like Tengoku no Tobira and Tengoku no Aru Basho are my favorite types of songs. Really big, theatrical songs where Sono really belts and Anzi focuses more on melody than on rhythm. Additionally, Kagayaki wa Senkou no You ni was a reply great big standout. Then there was Jolly Roger ni Hai wo and 3Jikan which were pretty different from your typical MO song, but they really did an excellent job at branching out and trying some newer (or at least atypical) styles. Otherwise, I don't think much stuck out to me. I really really do not like Tonari ni Suwaru Taiyou and Kumo no Ito. I can't even make it all the way through them. Which has actually never happened with an MO song before. However, overall, I appreciate what they did with this album so I would give it a 4/5.

I'm playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on PC in Revengeance difficulty. I seem to have no trouble beating the game with no damage and getting an S rank for every single fight until the last boss fight with Armstrong. There are QTE bugs in the PC version if you play the game in less than 60 FPS which means you can't do a debris cut properly and timing for the last QTE is way too fast. This is the final S rank I yearn for though. lol Edit: Finally, I finished MGR:R in Revengeance difficulty on PC with no damage and S ranks for all chapters using a keyboard and mouse. lol I had to play the game in 800x600 for the last boss fight to get rid of the QTE bugs though.

    Best album intros/outros

I'm not a fan of SE tracks, because it seems that VK bands use them as lazy excuses for not making a proper first/last track. There are a few exceptions, though... NEGA - OMNIA VANITAS While this song was probably treated like an SE track, it doesn't feel like one; it feels like "a song" that just so happens to be short and instrumental. Apart from the fact that I simply love the composition, this song is a great way to wind down the album after the very depressing HINDSIGHT. It's very calm, but very emotional. It's a nice little epilogue to the preceding track, and a fine way to close out the album. Fragments Of Unbecoming - Up From The Blackest Of Soil I really like an intro track that segues perfectly into the following track, as if it's simply a cut segment from that song, and this is a great example! Also, I love, Love, LOVE, the atmosphere created by this song, with the simulated sound of rain and the acoustic guitar, that sets the mood for the entire album. I always like to listen to this album when it rains. Every other band in the world could take a lesson or two from FOU on making intro/outro/intermission tracks! Following track for reference: the GazettE - 剥離 (Detachment) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A8N5ikDu6c It's calm, serene, atmospheric... it's misleading. It's very well known that the GazettE aren't big on incorporating atmosphere and ambience into their music, "SE tracks" aside. Hearing tracks like 剥離 and [Depth] really make you wish that they would incorporate a similar atmosphere into their "main music." Also: that guitar composition! It's damn beautiful. I really don't know what else to say. This is fucking awesome, just click that damn play button already! the GazettE - PEOPLE ERROR Again, another outro that's really a song that happens to be instrumental. Something about this song (maybe the fact that it's at the end of the album) feels pretty awkward, so the name PEOPLE ERROR is quite fitting. While I like the composition. PEOPLE ERROR is an awkward ending to an awkward album. Also, side note: I saw a live clip of this (it was played over the PA system at one of their shows)... the audience clapping along did more than a perfect job at completely destroying the mood. These are the only ones I can think of at the top of my head...

Lycaon absolutely blew my mind. I have a completely newfound appreciation for what they are doing now and I am even more of the opinion that their royal order stuff is just dogshit compared to their newest releases. Shadow was great and the thing yuuki does with the spotlight when the light goes out is the shit. Born I couldn't be arsed to watch, and instead I brushed shoulders yuuki who came next to us to look at born. He fleed upon approach but still appeared another time and gave the same cute hand sign "GOMEN GOMEN" to us when we wouldn't stop trying lolol

I have high hopes for inquisition as well, but after the horrible disappointment that was DA2 I will most definitely be talking a wait and see approach for the game... Bioware has to earn my trust back after that travesty but I will give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the fact they only spent a year and a half in development for DA2 and were pretty much rushed out the door by EA. If you look at it from that perspective DA2 is actually quite a feat and could be considered decent when keeping in mind what they were able to accomplish with that very short development cycle... I mean come on, even Call of duty has longer cycles than that (2 years) EA are a bunch of scumbags xD I full well expect Inquisition to be really good since they've had ample time to develop it, but I do have worries about it so therefore I will wait to hear some stuff I just came across this official trailer for Fatal Frame V while I was browsing youtube, It's coming out in japan later this month. Man this looks really good. This is probably something I would buy a WiiU for, but of course you know this would actually have to released here for me to buy it... come on Nintendo this is the kinda third party games we want. We don't want ports of games that can be played on other better consoles, we want games built from the ground up for your console intended for your hardware and most importantly we want these games to be from third party developers because there is just so much mario and zelda that one can take before it starts getting old.

D - 7th Rose [2010] fuck why am I doing this to myself Okay so the first installation in this trainwreck series will be the one album I wasn't able to shut up about for approximately 2 years and I hereby want to apologize to all of you. I had to listen to this at nighttime and stay up until 4AM because it's goddamn hot outside and people are actually being hospitalized. I couldn't move a fucking muscle without sweating from all possible locations. FUCKING GLOBAL WARMING KIDS. I'm listening to my own Lossless rip, fully formatted for the best torture listening experience. ANYWAY, HERE WE FUCKING GO. ALSO LOL WHAT IS FORMATTING. 1. 7th Rose ~Return to Zero~ Okay so basically just an interlude leading up to the actual title track of this album. Not sure if this is a build up to hype you up or to have the holy spirit protect you from the monstrosity following this interlude. Pope Francis/10 2. 7th Rose Jesus fuck. Asagi's either suffering from sincere bronchitis or the main avex guy was ill and hired Maria Cross to do the retake on the harsh vocals, who probably just was like "well at least it sounds better than whatever I do" and gave it the thumbs up. The harsh vocals are atrocious and I have absolutely no idea why anyone in D thought this was a good idea. This entire fucking song is a mess because literally NOTHING adds up and everyone's just heavily ramming around on their instruments while Asagi sounds like he just shat a lego garage. The good thing about this song is that the chorus is actually good and it isn't poppy, which has been a trend lately. Then again this album was released before MEJIBRAY even formed so idfk. But whatever, I fucking love this song anyway. Holy shit why do I still like this, probably nostalgia/10 3. 花摘みの乙女 ~Rozova Dolina~ A wild studio formatted synth string appeared! Always love me some of those. D, you were major at this point in time, couldn't you hire a guy to do the actual recording of these strings I mean holy shit. Apart from that this song is actually pretty fucking cool. Asagi's dramatic vocals are actually placed really well, the accoustic work is perfectly executed and everything just sounds fantastic. If only it weren't for the synth strings/10 4. Tightrope This song somehow relates to some other D or ASAGI solo song but all I remember from this was that PV that included dogs and Asagi being chained to a wall with ropes and singing about freedom. Tightrope was actually the song I expected to really hate by now but fuck it's really catchy. Since I'm more of an individual song kind of person I'm sort of glad I gave this one a fair relisten. Everything else that somehow slightly sounds like this sucks. I actually really enjoy something for once/10 5. Crimson Fish This is the song with the most individual plays according to iTunes. Then again, "according to iTunes" my most played track is a song that I haven't even played like 10 times so yeah iTunes fucking sucks. Apart from the fucking horrible synth strings and the misplaced echo-y intro, this song is actually still really good? Holy shit. This song still fucking rules/10 6. Independent Queen Obligatory heavier middle song comes in right at the middle point of this album and it's really not that surprising. Welcome to fucking VK, kids. OBLIGATORY GUITAR SOLO RUINS EVERYTHING. Does D have a fucking contract that obliges them to put a fucking guitar solo in every song even if it doesn't need one. Obligatory Engrish as well, lovely. Eh this song is whatever, I can't even be bothered to make semi-decent comments about it. I'M INDEPENDENT QUEEN/10 7. 13月の夢見丘 The year doesn't have 13 months, that's fucking silly. What are they teaching kids in schools these days. Folky song of the album that I actually really like because it's so overly fucking cheesy. The synth strings don't really sound that horrendous here so who fucking cares. My review, my opinion. Sort of want to skip through a field now/10 8. Day by Day Day by Day is, I don't know what it is. It's an okay poppy song I guess but why the fuck is it on this album. It's placed at the worst fucking place too, right in the middle of where this album is starting to bloom. It's like someone finally being able to buy that car they always wanted and then accidently setting it on fire. This is leaving aside that Toki no Koe is going to fucking kill anything good going on until this part though. Why was this necessary/10 9. 絡繰り絵巻 Could've done without the heavy bits. Starts of good, then gets progressively worse. It's like eating a Subway sandwich when halfway through the lettuce starts to get gross and sulky because the fucktard who made your sandwich put three fucking bottles of ranch sauce on your sandwich. That's how this song feels to me. Overall it's still good, I just wish I could take some bits out. Subway needs to use less ranch sauce/10 10. 鬨の声 This is where I can unleash all my inner fury because this album was actually going really well up until this monstrosity. I HONESTLY THOUGHT THE ALBUM FLOW WAS GOING TO BE PICKED UP AGAIN AFTER DAY BY DAY AND THEN THIS FUCKING HAPPENS. Who the fuck approved this. These 5 guys sat around a table and thought "well this sounds good enough to print on disc". Multiple avex guys could've fucking approved this. The harsh vocals are once again fucking atrocious. The instrumentals are awful, this song is too long for the kind of song it tries to be. The obligatory guitar solo is actually the best part here, for the rest it's as big a train wreck as this current review. Hope burned before my eyes/10 11. Sleeping Beautiful Beast Thank fucking god for a decent ballad. This is what I'm talking about. Is there software that deletes certain tracks from discs because that's what I'd like to do to Toki no Koe. Sleeping Beautiful Beast would be even better placed after Karakuri Emaki (or whatever the fuck it's called). This review could've been called "Toki no Koe ruins everything". Pretty fucking good/10 12. 三日月揺籃歌 Outro sort of thing? Idk sounds pretty good to me though it would've been better to end with Sleeping Beautiful Beast because this sounds more of an intro than an outro to me. UNLESS IT'S LIKE AN INTRO TO 7TH ROSE. BUT DIDN'T THAT ONE ALREADY HAVE AN INTRO THOUGH. Actually sort of yes. Depends on which version of the album you have. If you have type A and B it's pretty neat. If you have type C this one doesn't make any fucking sense. GOOD OLD VK STRIKES AGAIN. Depends on which version you have/10 13. 風がめくる頁 BONUS TRACK DESU. Okay this song is nice and it works as an outro but not this sort of outro. It's a goddamn single on an album that's nothing similar to it, why the fuck is it even on here. Like I know this one's at least optional but jesus. Liking it more when it's not a fucking closer/10 --------- FINAL VERDICT TIME VERDICT OF 16-YEAR OLD ME: VERDICT OF 21-YEAR OLD ME: For the amount of hate this album gets by fans of the band, it's actually really good. I still consider it their best major album, because it really just is a good record. Toki no Koe is like the only thing that really makes you cringe on here, that's basically it. DO I WANT TO PUNCH MY YOUNGER SELF IN THE THROAT FOR LOVING THIS? NO Alright, that's it I'm fucking done. I'll be keeping how many times i want to punch myself in the throat for liking what I did. So far that score's on zero, HA. NEXT TIME ON BLAST FROM THE PAST [PROBABLY, IDK]: NIGHTMARE - majestical parade
