I feel like the conspiracy theories are gonna start rolling in, but I am guessing he is able to play a lighter schedule part time with session bands and friends, rather than being a full time musician drumming all day everyday.

If anything it shows he actually loves VK and playing, rather than giving it up completely which would be disappointing.
